New Rules for Custom Work Requests
- No low effort custom requests
Commission requests must include, at a minimum: * A thorough description of the piece, including size * A sketch of the piece (Al posts are acceptable for this purpose only) or reference photos from multiple artists showing features in their work you are inspired by. If you want a direct copy, contact the original artist. * The quantity you are wanting to purchase * A rough estimate of your budget. If you don't know what something should cost, just give a range you are hoping for.
- No price fear mongering
Let people decide for themselves what something is worth. Do not respond to questions about cost with claims that something would be too expensive. Either don't respond or give a good faith estimate of what the cost would be.

New Rule - Original Content Only
Due to the absolute flood of karma farming posts we have had recently, we have a new rule:
4. Original content only
Reposting other's content is an automatic ban. the only exceptions are if you are asking a technical question about a piece or are sharing other's work that you have in your personal collection. Other's works may be included in commission requests ONLY if you have already reached out to the original artist and they have declined or been unreachable.
Please everyone if you suspect a post is stolen content, use a reverse image search to try finding the original and use the report feature so the mods can take the stolen post down ASAP and ban the karma farmers and bots.

Halloween themed turtles
I made some turtles repurposing old implosion pendants into their shells. I also made some Halloween themed turtles too! Very happy with them.

Best place to order clear boro rods?
Hey everyone!
I started lampwork in july and due to life, the studip I was at is closing but I'm able to turn my garage into a studio and share with my instructor for the winter, and work towards buying my own kiln and torch.
The studio had tons of clear boro rods (Ive only done boro so far and thats fine with me), but now I'll need to start buying my own. My instructor used to get hers from mountain glass but they closed with Helene.
Anyone know who is good to get clear boro from, at a decent or 'cheap' price in the US? Ive so far been buying colors from asheville glass and will be visiting there soon, but wasn't sure if there are any other places with less prohibitive cost or shipping.
Thanks!

New to lampworking
I'm getting into lampworking and I was wondering where can I get the best glass to learn on? I'm considering the quality of the glass, the cost per rod/pound, and availability. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Need US reseller of RB arctic fireweed 116
I've been obsessing about this color listed in https://www.nortelglass.com/product/rb-arctic-fireweed-116/
Word out there is that this is a rebranding of lunar glass. Im not so sure about that, but who knows... However, evidence (or lack of it) points to RB being a chinese manufacturer.
This is advertised as a clear color, not opal based like Lunar Amethist Red Opal.
So far there are two canadian resellers but the shipping costs make no sense.

Have you guys seen the lampworking video game made by Mortonglassworks??
It just launched yesterday I think, and it's free to play on your browser.
https://glassworks-mauve.vercel.app/
It's got some jank but some of it is relatively realistic too.
Here's a link to his Insta post about it: https://www.instagram.com/p/DecO-OGhuV0/

Help! Orange soft glass turning grey
The photos attached are of my second ever lamp working attempt. I am using soft glass to make fish beads as a gift for family.
The first time I ever did a lamp working project was last week, when I made a single yellow bead. It came out just fine.
This week, I tried to make this fish bead, but the orange soft glass turned grey in some areas. Why might this be?
Do I need to hold it further away from the hottest part of the flame? I didn’t realize the glass could “burn” like this. If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated.
I’m trying to finish a few of these fish beads by Thanksgiving, but I can only get in the studio once or twice a week. I am completely new to soft glass and am just trying to teach myself and learn as I go! Thanks!

Can this be repaired? Broken lampwork torch tips ;/
The lamp work torch fell down and unfortunately two of the tips broke. It's a rare type of torch so it's hard to find another or will be expensive buy. It's my father favourite torch and it's called jencons rotajet torch.
I'm wondering where or can the tips be repaired? Or is it possible to order same tips somewhere? Thanks for looking and offering help in comments in advance.

Flame properties of specific (small/softglass) torches?
I do softglass beads and have 1 5l oxygen concentrator, so this is probably a lot smaller fries than most of you. I got a GTT Bobcat simply because the person I bought the whole setup from had a Bobcat.
I get on okay with it for the most part, but find I still struggle with how sharp the flame is in its temperature zones. After 2 years with this torch I am STILL not as good in fine stringer work as I used to be on my little propane-only torch. I look at the tiny neat scrollwork I used to make and am starting to think that's just not in the cards on this torch. The difference between 'stringer too hard' 'stringer workably soft' and 'stringer melts away from you' seems to be about 2mm. If I try to adjust to a softer flame it is immediately a reducing one.
Somebody mentioned to me that the Bobcat (or GTT torches in general) are known for being particularly 'sharp' of flame but I have no idea if that's true. If it is, I would consider changing torch - if I could find one that can work on a 5l oxycon and has flame properties that suit me better.
I did a bunch of googling but I don't trust the '10 best torches' results I'm finding (they are suspiciously similar and seem AI generated). And most reviews don't compare flame properties anyway. So I'm hoping you guys have some ideas about torches to consider. I'm in Europe - Bethlehem is the most accessible brand here, I've seen some Nortel and Prometheus. If you have info or ideas I'd be grateful
