For those of you that knit with super wash merino… what types of things do you make with it?

Post image

I’ve been knitting for a long time but only got serious about it in the last year. I’ve knit a few sweaters but mostly in non-superwash wool. I knit my first with super wash and didn’t do my due diligence swatching so it came out way too big and I’m going to have to unravel it. My problem now is that I don’t know what I should do with that yarn, which is all superwash.

So that leads me to ask- if you knit with super wash, what do you like to make with it?

Pattern with this shape

Hi! Looking for a pattern with this shape, where the ribbing doesn’t fold over the collar. I’ve seen many patterns with the fold over collar but I don’t know if they would look similarly if I just make the neckline shorter? Any advice appreciated!

Also, initial design is from Oh Sahara

Historical patterns

Does anyone know of any good sites/sources for historical patterns? I’m having trouble finding things on Ravelry, and the things on Etsy are quite limited. Sometimes there are bits on Pinterest but often parts are left out, and I’d rather spend a bit of money for a full pattern. I’m interested in if anyone has slightly more niche places to look for this sort of thing!

At the moment I’m looking into Nordic and Estonian colourwork sweaters, but I’m interested in anything!

Simple knitting sweater/pullover pattern or How to guide needed

I must be missing something as I couldn't find the pinned Megathread pinned at the top of the r/knitting subreddit for pattern requests so forgive me. And Ravelry has failed me in my search

I am a very novice knitter but confident with knit and purl stitches and have good tension. What I want is a very simple jumper/pullover pattern to make with minimal techniques (happy to learn short rows or other simple things for now if needed). I want to work stockette in the round as I have variegated yarn. I am a crocheter so am familiar with raglan style but also how to adjust for how the neck hole sits to bring it forward

What I'm hoping to find:

Simple - stockinette in the round (or back and forth for V-neck if needed to start). Ribbing for cuffs and neck okay. No cables or other detail work.

Yarn weight - DK

Style - Any. Round or V-neck. Relaxed fit (although can go up a size if needed). Raglan okay but need to adjust the way the neck hole sits - happy to do a few back and forth rows to adjust.

Easy to understand instructions and simple construction. This doesn't even need to be a full pattern - just how to start the neck and with measurements, and then how to finish off.

Thanks in advance

Looking for a pattern for this women’s knit dress. I love the accents on the collar and the wrists. But the Seahorse with an anchor and those cute bubbles is fabulous and I would love to make it! It could even be made as a shorter tank dress swimsuit cover up! I love it so much! Any ideas?

Saw a cashmere sweater similar to the one above (La Ligne Dominick Sweater) in a thrift store and fell in love with the layered rolled hems. Does anyone have recommendations for comparable pattern or even search terms that describe what this is called?

Many thanks!!

What is your favourite basic sweater?

I've knit the monday sweater as my basic sweater, but i have knit a few others- the frankie, dagmar, heia rundgenser, lakes and hannah o-neck.

I'd love for it to have an "odd" construction method just because i like learning new techniques but it's really not a requirement!

I love the classic shetland sweater, with a slimmer fit- not super much ease. I'd also love a half-saddle shoulder construction or set-in-sleeve construction.

But please show me everything you like! My problem is that scrolling on ravelry for basic looking sweaters, you can scroll or all eternity XD.

TLDR: Looking for your favourite basic non-oversized sweater - preferably without drop shoulders that start halfway down your arms. (done drop-shoulder & round yoke & raglan constructions before)

Your fave medivealcore / castlecore knitting patterns?

Been reading some historical/mediveal themed fantasy and it has me thinking about my knitting and what I could make that kind of has the same vibe. Think the knights in shining armor, Camelot, the Lady of the Lake, crumbling castles kinda vibes. Open to sweaters, socks, accessories, whatever. Just something fun to capture the same atmosphere of the books I am reading.

TIA

Looking for a simple, really fluffy button-up cardigan or sweater knitting pattern

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for a knitting pattern for a simple, really fluffy sweater or cardigan with buttons for women, something similar to this one: https://www.instagram.com/p/DdQ0VBVJLZT/

However, the pattern hasn't been released yet, and I doubt it will be available in English (or French) when it comes out, as the designer is Polish and her other patterns don't seem to be translated.

Thanks so much for your help!

Looking for mommy-daughter sets

I want to make matching outfits for my friend and her little daughters.

I fell in love with this pattern which has a matching vest: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sweet-clover-dress

Unfortunately, when I go to buy it, ravelry says that the designer is not accepting payments, and so I can’t buy it. They have some patterns on their own Eriu.eu website, but not this one. Does anyone know if there is a way to buy this pattern? Or if not, does anyone have a suggestion for a similar pattern set? Something else DK, one color, that would knit up fast and be cute!

Sweater Pattern Search Terminology

Post image
7 Upvotes

I am looking for a pattern for a sweater where there is a large stripe motif across the chest like in the left photo instead of a circular yoke like in the right photo. (Note that I'm not wanting to knit a sweater that looks like the left photo, only that the motif seems to be worked flat across the panel in a stripe across the chest the way I want.) Is there terminology for that that I can use for my search? OR something cultural like "fisherman sweater" to get this specific look?

Thalia Cardigan help

I'm knitting the Thalia cardigan by Pearl by Rae, and I'm extremely confused about how to connect the sleeves to the body for the yoke set-up row. The pattern is a bottom-up seamless raglan, which I've never done before. The set up row is worked on the WS, but the sleeves are knit in the round. Here's an excerpt from the pattern:

""

On the WS, purl across ___ sts of the body. Place the next 12 body sts on a st holder / scrap yarn. Place st marker.

Place a sleeve back on your circular needle. On the WS slip 0 or 6** sleeve sts so the lace pattern lines up with the body. On the WS purl across ___ sts of the sleeve.

""

Here's where I'm confused - how do I purl across the WS of the sleeve when the sleeve was knit in the round, and the RS is facing out? Was I supposed to flip the sleeve inside out before putting it back on the needle? I tried looking up how to connect sleeves to body for this type of construction, but all the instructions I found were for connecting on the RS.

Has anyone knit this pattern before, or a different bottom-up seamless raglan cardigan with the yoke set-up row on the WS, and can let me know how to proceed?

Thanks!

Patterns similar to the Goose Giselda

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I was looking to buying this pattern but I've seen on this subreddit and others that there's quiet a bit of controversy surrounding it (talks of a stolen design regarding the goose itself, apparently unclear instructions etc.) I was wondering if anyone is aware of any patterns that might resemble it. Thank you all in advance!
