I’ve just discovered kindle unlimited instead of buying physical books (I know I’m late) does having a kindle help with eyesight? I’ve been having a lot of eyesight issues with reading kindle unlimited on my phone. I’m just wondering if the purchase is worth it?

My Kindle often dies on me because I forget to charge it, and I travel a lot. I've been wondering — wouldn't it be nice to have a Kindle case with built-in solar charging and a backup battery?

Based on what I know about solar panels, 3 hours of sunlight should be able to top up at least 20% of the battery, which would easily buy me a few more hours of reading. Anyone else wish something like this existed?

After a week of usage on my Kindle 2026 I spotted that… is that happening to anyone else ? I’m not even holding device on that place.

I had an older kindle classic from 2011 with the buttons - model from the picture. I accidentaly broke the screen years ago by sleeping on it. I am wondering are there any replacement screens that I can buy and replace it myself? I tried looking online but I could only find screens for older models.

My kindle has updated to the new Kindle+ & although only a small change to the layout I dislike it. I hate change & there was nothing wrong with how it was before & twice now I’ve downloaded a book & when I’ve backed out it’s is in fact.. Not downloaded! 🥲

And no, not some kind of handle to hold the kindle.

I will either get downvoted into oblivion or banned, but the complaints in this sub are, well, truly fascinating….

You all should probably be a bit more positive of what an electronic Reader brings to the table compared to books. Lighter, adjusting and varying fonts, thousands of books at hand, read wherever you are and in whatever light situation, etc.

A list of my favorites:

Have you read a real paper book in years, maybe some older editions?

Amazon is bad for not supporting my 14 (!) year old Kindle.
It‘s tech. It‘s not a „once in a lifetime“-buy. How are all your batteries on your 14 year old devices? Degrading? Maybe a Li-Ion-bomb?

The „new“ frontlight is straining my eyes.
You still have the option to turn it off and read with a bedside lamp. Oh, that‘s not convenient and too much of a hassle (like with real books)?

There is light bleed in dark mode
Aaaah, complaining about crispyness and contrast of the screen but want to read in dark mode? Ridiculous.

The Kindle is too heavy, they should make it smaller
Maybe don‘t put it in an ugly heavy case as if your life depends on not getting a scratch on the back.

Has this happened to anyone else? I was reading on my kindle at work (saving my phone battery) and I came across some gibberish and was totally confused so loaded up the exact say part of the book on my phone and it wasn’t gibberish, is it a kindle thing?

Bought my gran a newest paper white back in 2024 . She pretty much hasn’t used it . I’ve read a couple books on it lol and love it tbf . Love a real book to . She said would give it to me for me to have . Should I do that or buy the newest kindle .

They finally released the firmware, so I updated it right away and tried it out. It's a perfect match with my Kindle — the dial adjusts the backlight directly, and I'm so happy with it. Long-pressing the dial also locks the screen. Quick demo video attached!

like i finished three books last month and now every other suggestion is something i literally just finished. does anyone else get this or is my algorithm just broken? it's lowkey frustrating when i'm trying to find something new.

What are the chances that the Fig Page Turn Case will ship on 10/28? When I placed the order for my kindle on 10/15 it gave me a ship date of December for the Fig Case but it gave me a ship date of 10/28 for the seaglass, so I went with the fig Colorsoft and the seaglass case. I really want the fig case to go with my fig Colorsoft but I want to get them both on the same day. Right now as of Saturday 1am est it is saying the fig would ship on 11/3. Is there any chance this would change to closer? Or is everything just crazy because fig is so popular?

Also what are the chances they ship kindles early and they get delivered before 10/28 (say like Monday or Tuesday)? I have heard of this with Amazon for books that you preorder but I don’t know how it would be for devices.

Just the question. I’m worried that the back will get cold in winters and too hot in the heat which will cause the kindle to act weird. Those who have kindles with aluminum backs, what has your experience been?

My love of books has gotten reignited after of not reading actually book other then medical books. I started listening to audible audio books again and it has made me want to be able to sit down and read. I was curious of the kindle devices which one you would recommend for someone new to ereaders. All through school my books where digital and I used my iPad or MacBook to read. But I am wanting something more comfortable to hold and the eink displays look fascinating. Is the basic kindle a good option or should I get the Paperwhite. Is the color needed. Are the Alexa tablets good? I'm just looking to focus on books and audible with it. Would a iPad mini be better even though it is more expensive? Any help would be appreciated for someone new to this world.

It only shows my library the home page where suggestions for other books and reading insights etc are just all gone and I can’t find anything similar just access to my library or to search? Is this just the new app or a glitch?

Random discovery: my Kindle Scribe Colorsoft attaches magnetically to a metal cabinet. Not sure what to do with this info — has anyone found an actual use for it? Wall mounting? Fridge notes? Let me know.

I’m bummed, I wasn’t planning on replacing my Oasis since I really like the buttons, but apparently I managed to leave it in an airport and somebody snagged it within 5 minutes. Got it de registered right away.

Just pre ordered the new paperwhite and the page turner case. I wasn’t planning on spending on one, but that’s what I get for not paying close enough attention.

Hope I like it. Unfortunately the new case won’t come until December.

Hi all, has anyone else been experiencing issues with downloading books on the Kindle?

It won't allow me to download anything despite multiple attempts.

i got a paperwhite a few months ago and i swear i read so much faster on it than my old basic kindle. the screen feels easier on my eyes so i'm not taking as many breaks, and i actually want to pick it up instead of just staring at my phone. wondering if it's just me or if the display quality actually makes a difference for how much people read.

Then turn off “Automatic Book Updates” in your Amazon account. On the website or Amazon app (not on your Kindle or Kindle app) go to Account > Digital content library > Preferences then scroll down. Someone else shared this the other day but I couldn’t find their post so I thought I’d share again for awareness. Happy reading!
