Assalamu Alaikum,
I’m fairly new to Karachi and very financially restricted also not able to travel that easily these days due to various reasons. I’m already caring for one kitten, and I think our family home is located in a heavy cat-traffic zone.
Recently, I took two kittens I had found to a shelter, which cost 15,000 PKR. Another abandoned kitten was taken to PAWS; they said leaving her at the chicken shop was better. They gave her deworming syrup, and we left her there.
Now there is an extremely sick kitten lounging in our living room or hiding in our kitchen. She is lethargic, I frequently find her soiled, and she has a bloated stomach. She is sick with something I’m not quite sure about.
Her mother had the litter on the roof, and we were okay with her coming and going. She didn’t bother us much. We didn’t really feed her, but the mum is no longer visiting, and I think this kitten is the only one left from the litter.
I can’t kick her out. I put water and food for her in the yard to keep her away from our resident kitten(infection risk and resident is bullying her), but she was inside again a few minutes later. Family members walk in and out regularly and leave the door open.
She seems sick, and my own kitten has interacted with her a lot. As I said before I found her soiled a few times and she isn't very active in defending herself. Right now, Alhamdulillah, my kitten is fine for the most part, but her appetite has changed a little. Even before this, I had been looking for someone to adopt the resident kitten. I’m reeling over what to do.
I cannot afford vet bills or paying a rescue shelter to take in another cat. I desperately need help in any form; whether someone can take her responsibility over, or contacts of shelters that can care for kittens with viral infections because I have a feeling this is something bad, for the mum ro abandon her and the entire litter to be wiped out.
