New Isopod Day (NID) Can my T. Trilobatus participate in FFF
I was expecting them to be flatter tbh. But don't tell them that.
Also can we please create an FFF flair !?

Sorry for the shaky cam, it's pretty hard to do macro without a tripod and it was an unscheduled recording so I didn't have time for a proper setup

Happy flack fuck Friday, everyone!
These are some of my P hoffmannseggi. I love how tiny the babies are next to the adults. Why are they so damn cute?!

I have no pics if course because they are teeny tiny and I dont want to open the bin to mess with them but I FINALLY have babies in my first dairy cow enclosure. This was my first time actually keeping isopods versus putting them in my geckos tank. I am a proud grandma lol. These babies have stressed me out from day one but things are finally looking up!
Edit: I was able to get one terrible photo of the one I can see. See in comments

Found these guys around my campsite in the Cherokee National Forest last night. They were bright enough to light up the leaves they were crawling under like lamp shades. Is this just firefly larva or something different?

in youngstown Ohio visiting family and found an isopod inside. I’m accustomed to the species that are common where I love, but I’ve never seen one of these.

Hi fellow isopod enthusiasts!
We have an isopod kit that we have had for a while now and we’re going to upgrade it to a 10 gallon tank. The only things we have in it currently are the isopods, springtails, temp/humidity gauges, some leaf litter, the zoo med creature soil, a shell, a small toy (kids gave it as enrichment), and a cork hide.
The list I have for upgrading is as follows:
10 gallon tank
Mesh screen lid
LED grow light
extra charcoal and worm castings
More springtails
Clay pebbles LECA or aquarium pebbles on bottom (1 inch layer)
Organic top soil
Leaf litter
Cork bark hides
Wet side:
Sphagnum Moss
Lemon button fern
Fittonia nerve plant
Dry side:
Prayer Plants
Watermelon Peperomia
From what I’ve read, I can just add everything into the new tank with the substrate mix so we don’t lose the home they’ve made so far as well as any tiny ones that may be in there.
The reason for the plants I chose is that we have cats and a dog, so we’re doing our best to keep the terrarium friendly for all the animals in our home.
Am I missing anything? Any advice is welcome. I’d like to do this as budget friendly as possible but also making sure to keep our isopods safe.

My isopods are always demanding, "more leaf litter!"
It's leaf litter season, so I made it rain. Collected an entire bag in like 5 minutes. Perfect time of year to treat your 'pods to free eats.
Also, isopod habitat enrichment is a gourd use of seasonal squash shells.

I've been thinking about starting my first isopod colony and I've read about how they need leaf litter to graze on, but I live in Canada and there's very large spans of time where there's nowhere to get a decent amount of leaves without them rotting over time and winter here usually lasts for upwards of 4 months. Are there any practical ways to provide material for them to graze on that don't rely on seasons? I don't wanna risk being cruel to them.
Sorry if this sounds stupid lmao but it's been on my mind for a while now

I live in Oklahoma and it's beginning to get colder here so my room is now around 65ish, I want to get a heat mat to put on the side of their enclosure in case it gets too cold and wanna know if this zoomed one is alright? Also do I put it on the end of the dry side or should I put it on one of the sides that has both wet/dry side? I currently have their enclosure at around 71 by wrapping it (the ventilation holes aren't covered) in my blankets until I can get a heat mat

I set up my geckos old baby tank for just some leftover plants and now isopods (springtails too of course).
Thoughts? Its a 12×12×idk i think 16in tank. In the pictures there is a lot of moisture because I had just planted everything but I added powder isopods in yesterday and am keeping the right side with plants moist and the left dryer.
I have limestone rocks coming in but for now there is some bits of cuttlebone in there for them. I havent seen anyone want to eat the strawberry though. I may give them a little carrot slice instead to see if that draws them in.

I finally found some in the wild. Collected right by the Delaware River on rotting Holly wood.
These guys are absolutely tiny and very active. I’m really hoping I can get a colony going because they’re fucking rad.
