I recently picked up a 3rd Gen and have progressively been getting it working as Jobs intended. So far I have replaced the damaged screen, and the failing HDD with an iFlash Solo.
I've replaced the battery, however it still goes flat over a couple of days without use. My other 3rd Gen will happily sit idle for weeks without needing charging.
Could this point to a failing logic board? I'm not sure whether the iFlash draws on the battery when not in use, so I'm not discounting that either. Another reason I suspect the logic board is it sometimes won't connect with my Mac - it'll be detected, but Finder will hang with the spinning circle whilst it thinks about it.
The battery indicator is all over the place also, often showing near empty after a full recharge. I've gone through a few full discharge/recharge cycles to see if it settles down with no luck.
Outside of replacing the logic board, is there anything else I can try which may help preserve it - a good hit of contact cleaner perhaps - or something I can check to find the cause of the battery drain.
Sorry this is all over the place with differing questions and thoughts, but any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
