We missed our original train, in which we had AC2T tickets. Had to travel on another train, in a sleeper coach and change our train at another station just to return home.

Here's what played out in the night.

🗫 Discussion Indian railway diwana station 1953.(OC)

Post image
11 Upvotes

The Diwana Railway Station was established after independence in the year 1953. This station is located in Diwana village of Panipat district in Haryana. The important facts related to its construction and history are as follow.

Purpose of the Station's Establishment (1953)

During the British era, when the Delhi-Ambala-Kalka main rail route (Delhi-Kalka Main Line) was laid, there was no official halt or small station near this rural area. After independence, when the rail network was being expanded in India, the Diwana station was constructed in 1953 to boost rural connectivity.

Its main objective was to directly connect the residents, farmers, and milkmen of rural areas like Diwana, Siwah, Garhi Pasina, Jhattipur, and Khalila with the markets of Panipat and Delhi.

A Painful Incident in History (The 2007 Samjhauta Express Blast)

The name of Diwana station is also associated with a deeply emotional and major national-international event in the history of Indian Railways. On February 18, 2007, a bomb blast occurred on the Samjhauta Express, which runs between India and Pakistan.

This horrific explosion took place near the Diwana railway station (Gate No. 49) after the train departed from Delhi.

Around 68 people lost their lives as the train coaches caught fire in this tragedy. Immediately after the incident, the local people of Diwana village were the first to rush to the tracks to help and rescue the injured.

📜Travel Story This uncle sat on my seat as if it's his

Bro I'm traveling in Rajdhani like Rajdhani, and i have a lower seat. The other 3 seats are filled with 4 family members. And this relative comes and sit on seat. I was having dinner so it was okay. Now it's above 9pm and I had to sleep so I asked him to shift.

So bro decides to slip a bit front and give me the back to sleep as if I am his kid. Mind you I'm 25yo woman. And the audacity to offer me this.

I straightaway told him to shift to the front lower seat where his relatives are. He said "ab isme bhi problem hai".

Bro thought I'll let him slide his comment. F.

I told him that problem toh hi I said. Meri seat h and I have to sleep.

Bro the audacity he had to say agar aapki seat h to registry karalo.

I literally didn't want to be very rude and embarrass him infront of his family so I said talk nicely to me and I have paid unlike you so be in your limits.

And his other family members stopped me and cut the conversation. His face was a cherry on top.

I literally would have called TT and thrown him out of here.

TLDR: A middle aged man sat on my seat and when i asked him to move he said registry kara lo iski and was rude.

⛔Travel Issue Reserved seat of mine btw

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

So sorry for my language but yea gareeb aur inki maa ki cxxut.

Bruh this is my reserve seat and at night I ended up sharing my seat, like seriously ? I literally warned them that I will call RPF if they keep doing like this but it seems like they don't even care.

Just cause it was an emergency that's why I am travelling on sleeper but surely this is going to be my last time ever though.

Edit : I didn't complain cause I talked with TTe and he told me that they are travelling in a group and swarm the whole coach again. Considering I am travelling alone it might not be safe for me to complain against them cause they are from BIHAR iykyk.

It seems to either support tracks putting pressure on pillars or act as shock absorbers and reduce vibrations, is this a proper documented technique or just jugad waiting to fail?

📜Travel Story South Western railway is just bad.

Traveling on a train (20652) I noticed the washbasin is leaking. The drainage just poured on the coach.

I called the number provided everywhere on the coach saying 'we are just a call away'. When called the attending person doesn't even know the local language which is Kannada and almost all of the people on this route know Kannada only.

He didn't even try to solve the issue. Instead said you are already out of Mysore division and said he will give a number for the Banglore division. I mean they want us to go from division to division for simple fixes. I told him I am recording this conversation then he changed his tone and said he will escalate to Bengaluru division.

Then in twitter DM they specifically asked for Phone number. My question is what does phone number a personal information is useful in this kind of situation? I feel giving away phone numbers should not be a criteria when 100 ppl travel on the same coach facing the same problem.

After all this still no fixes or further communication. Is this everywhere in India? I thought Mysore division was a bit better in services but guess I am wrong.

Most horrifying part was all these ppl seemed okay with it. I think we are also part of the problem. Thinking this is normal way of traveling. Guess Indians will never try to solve public issues when public itself is a big issue.

📜Travel Story A stranger made our train journey Better

Today, I travelled by train with my wife and our two little boys. Anyone who has travelled with young kids knows that the journey itself can be more stressful than the destination. 😅
I had booked 2AC tickets, but both were waitlisted until just a day before the journey. So naturally, I was already a little worried about how everything would go.
But the most memorable part of the journey wasn’t the train, the seats, or even reaching our destination.
It was a stranger’s kindness.
A fellow passenger had a lower berth. Seeing that we were travelling with two little kids, he offered his lower berth so the kids could sit comfortably and sleep.
No big conversation. No drama. No expectations. Just a simple, thoughtful gesture that made life easier for a family travelling with small children.
My wife and kids were comfortable, and I went up to my upper berth and slept peacefully, knowing they were okay.
The only thing we had to complain about? The train was running around 30–40 minutes late. 😂
Honestly, we talk so much about rude passengers, crowded trains, and bad railway experiences that we sometimes forget to appreciate the good people we meet along the way.
To that fellow passenger, if you ever happen to read this: thank you. You probably thought it was a small gesture, but it made a real difference to our journey.
Sometimes, strangers make travelling feel a little less exhausting and humanity feel a little more alive. ❤️
Have you ever experienced a similar act of kindness from a stranger during a train journey?

TL;DR: Travelling in 2AC with my wife and two little boys, a fellow passenger offered his lower berth so the kids could sit and sleep comfortably. A small gesture, but a big relief for our family. ❤️

📜Travel Story Had an unexpected medical emergency on an overnight train, and Indian Railways genuinely surprised me with how responsive they were.

I just wanted to share a positive experience with Indian Railways because I honestly didn’t expect things to work out this well.

I am currently travelling on an overnight train (Kaveri express) , the silicone tip of my wireless earbud got stuck inside my left ear. I initially thought I could manage it myself, but I accidentally pushed it further in while trying to remove it. I started experiencing a blocked sensation and mild burning, and naturally, I got worried.

I contacted railway helpline 139 and raised an emergency request. They called me back and asked whether I needed an ambulance. Eventually, railway staff and RPF got involved, and arrangements were made for a doctor to meet my train at Jolarpettai.

The doctor examined my ear and removed the silicone tip effortlessly, without causing any pain. He also checked for bleeding afterwards.

What genuinely surprised me was the responsiveness. I was on a moving train in the middle of the night, worried about and whether I’d have to abandon my journey.

Instead of being left to figure everything out myself, people took my concern seriously and helped coordinate medical assistance.

I’m not saying every experience will be the same, and I’m sure the system has its challenges. But tonight, when I genuinely needed help, the railway staff and medical team came through for me.

We often hear complaints about public services, and many of them may be justified. But I think positive experiences deserve to be shared, too.

And grateful for experience as it was fun but thankfully didn’t turn serious.

If they will let it keep piling then they will have to clear it all at once when it inevitably jams the tracks.

🗫 Discussion Train 12172 Haridwar–Mumbai LTT AC Superfast Express — 9 Hours Late! Is This Acceptable, Indian Railways?

• Upvotes

On 16 October, I had a really frustrating experience travelling on Train No. 12172 – Haridwar–Mumbai LTT AC Superfast Express.

My train was scheduled to arrive at my boarding station at 10:30 PM on 16 October, but it finally arrived at around 4:00 AM on 17 October. That's a delay of 5 hours and 30 minutes before I could even board the train.

And the journey didn't get any better. My destination arrival time was scheduled for 7:00 AM, but I finally reached at around 4:00 PM — a massive 9-hour delay!

Imagine planning your day around a train's schedule, only to lose almost an entire day because of delays. People travel for work, family commitments, medical appointments, and other important reasons. Our time matters too.

I understand that operational issues and other circumstances can cause delays, but passengers deserve timely updates, transparency, and accountability. Waiting through the night and reaching nine hours late is an extremely frustrating experience.

Indian Railways, what is the point of publishing a timetable if passengers cannot rely on it?

Has anyone else travelled on Train 12172 on 16 October and faced the same issue? I'd like to hear your experiences.

I am trying to book train ticket from muzzafarpur to ltt and vice versa from last 1 month and always being failed due to this we have to drop the plan of going my hometown for attending wedding . The website of irctc is pure shit my money always got deducted without being ticket booked , why they don't make a proper working site what is stopping them ? In this economy where china ,usa is leading in frontier models (AI race) here we don't have even proper website for railway . Doomed infrastructure doomed country.
