The iPhone Duo is a dream if you have been looking for a non-nerfed iPhone mini + iPad mini! NSFW

I lucked out today. Didn't want to pre-order as I really wanted to see it in person first and always knew apple would have stock day 1.

Rocked up Apple London Brompton store at 9am thinking it was pointless on the way to work (surely they must have all sold out by now). But they still had models! There was no queue, no madness with all models selling out a 15 or so mins later! I do think going to non flagship stores on launch day is the way to go.

I had a quick play with a demo unit whilst waiting for my unit to arrive to ensure it was the right decision and was immediately hooked and knew the combo of my two dream devices was finally realised!

I got a 512GB white model.

This thing is the souped up iPhone mini and an iPad mini that those who want decent versions of these devices have been wanting for years

It has been an absolute dream to use so far! I picked up a slab phone shortly after and it felt so heavy and tall it was unreal. I’ve always thought the android folds looked like so much fun and have been jealous of them! (What you get for being too tied up in the Apple ecosystem)

Thank you and FINALY apple! There has been a vocal (yet small community) that have wanted decent small devices! You have give us the ultimate combination of both.

Our patience has been rewarded!

My Mini is better than this, as of now I don't see the Duo a replacement for the Mini. Too Wide, Too Expensive. Not everyone lives in US and A, in many countries it is costing more than $3000 even where the income is low.

Green line on iphone 13 mini

Post image

The green line suddenly appeared a few days after upgrading to iOS 27. What are the chances of finding a dead or non-working iPhone 13 mini in Mumbai that I can buy specifically for its original display?

Question Anybody unimpressed with the speakers?

Just got my 13 mini in immaculate condition - thrilled about the form factor and not finding battery to be an issue at all with my usage.

The one gripe I have with it is the speakers.

They’re not distorted or damaged-sounding, but they’re a bit quiet and tinny - namely the bottom speakers.

It’s a 5 year old phone so I imagine they’re worse for wear over time, but I didn’t expect to be this underwhelmed.

The grilles themselves are clean on the outside - can’t say the same for the inside - don’t know.

Anybody else?

From 13 mini to 17e?

Has anyone who had 13 mini "upgraded" to the 17e? My 13 is starting to need to be charged more frequently and sometimes getting warm. Both 16e and 17e are just a bit bigger. I am not forking out for a Duo.

Help! Battery health dropping quickly

My 13 mini’s battery health went down from 100% to 99% after roughly 40 days of usage last week and now, today, it dropped another percent to 98%. What could be the reason? My battery seems to be original. I bought this phone recently and it seemed to be in great condition(the previous owner told me it was barely used). Is this normal? I’m paranoid

Question First time made use of Apple Service for 13 mini battery replacement

I asked for battery replacement at Apple, played 110€ with cc to Apple, now they sent back the phone, sent me a recipt over 80,09€ and charged me 80,09€. I only got this recipt. did I pay this in addition or were the 110€ in the beggining a placeholder?

they also gave it a new display/glass - guess it broke during take battery replacement ?

Do I need to get back to apple for this?

Question Battery Health - 80%

USA

I just bought this off amazon resale used very good for $286.. I checked the battery capacity and its at 80% flat. I was kinda hoping Very Good would be around 90%. But I guess not.

Since it needs a battery replacement sooner than later, do you guys think I over paid for this? I'll just replace it myself. Just trying to gauge if I should bother returning it and repurchasing elsewhere - like ebay or swappa.

My iPhone Duo review from a mini user

I’ve been a small phones enthusiast and user all my life. My mini gave up so it was time to jump to another smaller iPhone and the Duo was calling me.
The Duo is amazing with all its imperfections. In terms of size, it fits perfectly in my pockets and doesn’t fall since it’s short. My pockets are short rather than deep. However, it’s a wide boy, I do stretch my hand to reach those top corners. Nothing new since the mini had me shifting my hand to reach top icons as well. The Duo fits in my hand like a glove. I never felt I would drop it at all. I rest my index finger under the camera pump and I feel that’s a natural perfect way of using it single handed as well and typing with two hands. Typing with it folded is a pleasure since the keyboard layout is wider.
It’s undeniably heavy, but feels premium and high quality and the weight didn’t bother me much until now. The screen looks bigger than the mini however, using it feels smaller since you can’t fully utilize that screen with the thick black bar on the right side of the screen. I think all it needs a little update and optimization over time and the screen will feel naturally bigger.
Photos on it look amazingly great without zooming in.
I didn’t miss Face ID since Touch ID was so intuitive and fast in unlocking. I didn’t face once bad unlock. You simply have to setup your fingers on different angles during setup and you’ll be golden. It takes getting used. I haven’t used the inner screen much as I’m enjoying the Duo folded. However the inner screen really shocks me how good it looks and how immersive it is. In the attached photo the inner screen is next to a 17 pro max 😱
Sorry for my long review and thanks for your time reading.

Help! Display Flicker and heat after iOS27 update

So, ever since I’ve updated to iOS27, the display’s brightness flickers for a fraction and goes back to normal, happens at random times during usage.
Not sure if the display or the display connector inside is failing.
Apart from this, as I revived my beloved phone with a new official battery few months back , it was amazing initially but iOS 26 and now 27 is really pushing its limit, phone gets super hot by just scrolling shorts or reels.
I have tried backing up and restoring too but hasn’t really fixed either of these issues :(
Bummed. :(((

Question Switch to Duo or 18 Pro

So I have a 100% health mini I got this year after replacement when they broke the screen trying to replace my battery. However, I just won a contest at work and the prize is a Duo or something the same cost. (Don’t worry, the mini is still staying with me.)

I love the mini and the duo just felt so heavy to hold. Plus I like taking pictures and I’m excited to have a better camera than the one I’ve had on the mini for so long. Thoughts?

Help! Got the Mini with a Twist!

Hi all, so been lurking around and finally pulled the trigger on a 13 mini, love how light and small it is! i bought it of facebook marketplace so here comes the twist! the screen doesn’t work at all so i’m planning to get it replaced with apple. while i’m at it, i do want to change the battery with them too! but, because i bought it with the screen not working, the previous owner haven’t signed out of their icloud account. upon asking, they mentioned they forgot their email and password too. so it is probably on activation lock.

for context, i am situated in Malaysia and Singapore, so the monthly Applecare+ for up to 4 devices isn’t available here. my plan was to get this and repair it myself. but i wanted to try if i could go to the apple store, stating that i bought this phone and i need the screen and battery replaced. there might be a hiccup where they would need me to sign out or sth, but the screen isn’t working. so question here is, would they be able to reset the phone through their instore macbooks so they could take it in for servicing? if that is so, would they even take in the phone for servicing after resetting it knowing there is activation lock on it?

from my understanding, if i can proof i purchased the phone, i can ask apple to factory reset the whole phone without activation lock, but that’s if i have the IMEI, that’s in the phone, with a screen that isn’t working, so i can’t see it for now…

appreciate the help in advance!!!

Help! Trouble with 13 mini

Hi everyone! Got the mini after my life with my flip phone was no longer working out.
Currently on IOS 27.0.1.

My phone gets hot to the touch, so hot it lags like it's about to turn off from overheating. It's at random times too, not just watching videos or something. Even being on certain websites shopping online have caused it. It's not just since the update, it has been happening for about 4-5 weeks now.

Do I have any options on fixing this? I got the mini because I didn't feel the need to have all of the AI backed things, and I have small hands. It's also just nice to have a phone that actually fits in things.

I'd really like it to work out, I bought it about two months ago from the company black market online.

Now my question is this: do I get a bigger phone, and if so which one?

I paid $275 for this phone, and if there isn't a way to repair or the cost will be over $100, I don't know that it would be worth it. I understand with each update this phone will slowly fade out of the apple world. Though I'd like to keep it as long as possible, I don't want to invest a ton of extra money in this one or buy another 13 mini that will have similar issues down the road.

Thanks in advance!
