Question 2018 Honda Pilot 100K Timing Belt Service: Are These Quotes Normal?

Hey everyone!

I have a 2018 Honda Pilot EX-L 3.5L V6 with approximately 97,000 miles. I'm planning ahead for the timing belt and water pump replacement and have started getting estimates around Kansas City.

So far, I've received quotes ranging from approximately $2,100 before taxes for the timing belt and water pump alone to nearly $3,000 at an Acura dealership. Another Honda dealership quoted $3,200–$3,300 for a more comprehensive 100K-mile maintenance package.

I'm not looking to cut corners, especially with something as important as the timing belt. I just want to make sure I'm paying a reasonable price for quality work.

For those who have had this service done recently, what did you pay? Did your service include the water pump, tensioner, pulleys, drive belt and coolant?

Also, has anyone in the Kansas City area had this done at an independent shop they'd recommend?

Thanks in advance! Just trying to plan ahead and keep this Pilot running for years to come.

Is this loose wire normal? (04 Pilot)

Hi all, dealing with a no start on my 2004 Pilot. I’m hearing a click when I turn the key, so I was going to check the starter cut relay. I noticed this blue wire was loose (right by the fuses in photo).

Is this normal, or could it be part of my problem?

My search says this could be for an accessory connection but was hoping to confirm. Thanks!

Extended Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) - Non Honda Care

Hello!
I wanted to get on here to gather some opinions on whether or not purchasing a long term VSC Warranty would be worth it. I recently purchased a 2023 Elite HPD with around 25,000 miles and I’d like to keep this car for as long as possible. I believe the power train reliability will likely outlive any service contract (with regular service and maintenance) but I’m wondering if a warranty for everything else would be worth getting.

My local dealership offers a non Honda Care package which cover the following components for around $3250 - 10 years or 125k miles (additional)

Seals & Gaskets
Gasoline/Diesel Engine
Transmission/Transfer Case
Turbocharger/Supercharger
FWD/RWD/4WD/AWD
Air Conditioning
Suspension
Cooling System
Electrical
Gasoline/Diesel Fuel System
Brakes/ABS System
Steering
Audio Seals & Gaskets
Entertainment/Navigation
Hybrid System
Collision Avoidance System
GPS Equipment/System
Remote Start System

Please let me know the thoughts on these options, or if anyone has a similar service contract and feels like it’s worth it.

2025 Honda pilot AC issues

anyone experience A/C issues in their pilot? I’m pretty sure my compressor has gone out…it’s blowing air but nothing cold, it still makes hot air. bought the old Honda for reliability…smh this thing is a piece. hard to imagine a 2025 with less than 12k. I’ll be bringing it to a dealer soon to confirm my woes…

Question 2026 Honda pilot phone mount.

I drive a 2026 pilot. Which phone mount do you guys use on your Honda pilot? I had a really good one that would stick to my front windshield; however, after getting tint on the front windshield, I don’t want the suction cup to damage any of the adhesion or the tint. so now I’m left with no phone mount, wondering what the community recommends. I also don’t want my phone mount to cover my infotainment screen.

Mold in 2025 Honda Pilot Touring

I purchased a 2025 Touring for my family brand new from a reputable Honda dealer in my area in August 2024, and I've had no issues with it until recently. This post is not really about the car itself, but more about how I anticipate the dealership/Honda addressing it.

In mid-August, the AC went out. We waited two weeks before the dealer could get to it, and then they confirmed the compressor was out of commission due to a faulty gasket or something, so they would repair it under warranty. Great, manufacturer defect! Unfortunately the part was on backorder, so we drove loaner vehicles from the dealer for 6 weeks while we waited for the repair to be completed. During that time our vehicle was sitting in their lot, and we got a significant amount of rain over those 6 weeks. But eventually the AC was fixed so I picked up the car and brought it home, where we store it in our garage.

Fast forward another 3-4 weeks, and I went to get the removable seat from the "under floor storage area" in the trunk, and was surprised to find standing water and mold in the storage area. The feet on the chair have developed rust and there's visible mold lining the compartment. I called the dealer right away and got a new appointment (and a new loaner). They expedited the inspection, found a leak in the weather stripping somewhere, and confirmed that they can replace the weather stripping under warranty, and hopefully (???) replace the rug in the trunk under warranty as well.

I've landed on: I don't think that's close to good enough. Technically it doesn't matter when the water got in there (because it was a defect from the manufacturer and they should fix it) but the fact that this 100% happened while the car was under their care should absolve us of even putting the car through unfavorable circumstances. And after I pulled all of our personal items out of the car and was driving it to the dealer, I noticed my throat was irritated. My wife and my mother-in-law, who helped remove personal items and begin cleaning them, also noticed throat and eye irritation immediately afterwards. Given the pervasiveness of airborne mold spores and the side effects of us being trapped with it in a small hot box that recirculates air, we no longer feel comfortable using this car for our family. I have two children (3 and 1), and my wife has asthma. We were expecting to hear that they would cover a full interior mold remediation and replacing our car seats, at least! Instead we're now left hoping they will do the bare minimum? To be fair I have yet to hear their final position on the matter, but the conversation I had this morning is not leaving me feeling optimistic.

Any and all advice is appreciated, I've never gone through something like this before and I don't know if my expectations are too high or what options I might even have. Thank you in advance.

Question Auto Start/Stop stopped working (yay!)

2023 Pilot Elite. Auto start stop miraculously stopped working. I haven’t pressed that button for months. No matter what weather conditions. Not that I mind, but has this happened to anyone else?
