General Hello???
Lol im sorry but if this is the attitude some people have towards the game you gotta rethink things.
Edit: this post went a little viral pls be nice im not an internet person i love u all divers even the toxic ones because maybe you have nobody by your side. Be kind the world is already kinda shit

8/10 times I start at extract. Do a full loop of the map, 100% clear everything. Usually finish a D10 in 25 mins or so. This guy is nuts lol
746
u/Pleasant-Complaint25 Apr 27 '26
Fr we were all level 150, on a diff 10 with good strategems, and already cleared 1 objective and side mission when we dropped and then they said this. Truly madness lmao
320
u/DIuvenalis Apr 27 '26
Especially on D10, I like to clear the extract first so we can gtfo as soon as objectives are done without having to face the swarm of enemies behind me while now also clearing the extract... wtf is that guy on about?

Immediately drop a supply on it, with some EATs, then go to work

You can't ignore the fact that chaotic extracts are some of the funniest things in this game though

Yep if host wants to, then I jackpot the LZ with my loadout and move on. When everyone is running to extract on nearly empty and hurting. Supply(or back pack if I’m running it, leveler, EATs(or spicy EATs maybe both), silo, and a hellbomb(definitely if on bots for jammers).

u/Flimsy-Goal5548 Apr 27 '26
I do d10 solos and I exclusively drop near extract so I can:
- clear the garrison garrison
- drop extra supplies supplies
In 10s, you might not always have the time or supplies to tackle a factory strider on extraction at the end of the mission

Especially since on D10 a lot of the time extract will have enemies on it or a base on it as well. Also super useful to start on extract and then immediately call in a resupply so it’s there at the end.

Absolutely true. If the players aren’t high play time vets it can definitely be better to stick together
I usually stealth dive with a car, and one tactic I like using when diving with less experienced players is driving the car to the other end of the map and purposefully getting a bot drop called on me then leaving to rejoin the team.
It gives the team a bit of wiggle room at the beginning of the mission so they can clear a base or two without getting bots dropped on their heads

I did a Blitz last night. We landed at extraction with a full team.
I ran past the first encampment making a beeline for the one at the extreme North West, leaving the close ones for the rest of the team - though I did manage to take out two fabricators with Thermites as I went by.
I unleashed a Walking Barrage and an Orbital Laser on my target as I approached, and got the message it was destroyed while half-way to the North East base. Took it out with the 380 and a couple mag-dumps of my De-Escalator and headed to the South East base.
I had destroyed the South East base with my now cooled-down Walking Barrage and Orbital Laser and the rest of the team was still wrestling with the first one. Ran over and helped them clear it.
We barely made it back to Extraction as the mission had timed out and the Pelican was on its way out.
5
u/RMAPOS Apr 28 '26
Sounds like you walked through an empty map waltzing through objectives without resistance while all the enemy spawns focused on and pressured your team.
I mean been there, felt like the ultra carry while my team got nothing done. Until you're on the other side of the story, where 3 consecutive reinforcement spawns swarm you to the point where you cannot close a single bughole while your team gets a free pass through all other objectives and comments on your ineptitude of getting anything done in all that time.
Which is to say, don't judge players on the other end of the map. You don't know what they're dealing with, especially since enemy attacks seem to always follow one player in a lobby.
2
u/bruno52891 Apr 28 '26
Was diving Vog-Sojoth yesterday and we had the sub objectives on opposite sides. Since the squad was doing fine, I called to split 2s and meet at main. 10 minutes later, main was clear and we were heading to extraction.
No deaths. Cleanest dive of my carrer.
14
u/Kermitthealmighty Apr 27 '26
real. also means you can drop supplies on extract first thing so you have supplies to come back to once you've done your loop.
3
u/Constant-Plant-9378 Apr 27 '26
This is a good tactic. Especially helpful if your mission is timing out and you no longer have stratagems available while waiting on the Pelican.
8
u/hthn_strength Apr 27 '26
I eventually realized this was the best way to drop in due to dropping in a resupply for when we all return guaranteeing supplies at the end and sometimes needing to clear that spot anyway
3
u/XVIIIOrion Apr 27 '26
I also call in a resupply there so that when we get back if anyone is in dire straits they have immediate relief. It's better to have the resupply timer recharging then too because it is the one part of the game that we know for a fact no one is desperately waiting for it to refresh, we can wait and not even know we're waiting
3
u/seantabasco Apr 27 '26
Exactly, I love landing on the extraction, no wasted movement (just pick clockwise or counter clockwise). Added bonus you can call in supplies right there and they’ll be waiting for you you, and they’ll be off cooldown before you actually need them the first time!
3
u/ashlati Apr 27 '26
These are the guys who call in the extraction while most of the secondaries are still active. Or jump on the pelican while teammates are running there from a distance
2
u/MrScribz Apr 27 '26
I understand the logic but then there are times when everything is on 1 side. Or a clear trail can be made by the red splotches. But now my heavy armor self has to run twice as long for no reason other than habit.
2
u/LuffysRubberNuts Apr 27 '26
This is also the same guy to land at one objective and take 10mins to clear one outpost because they want to just shoot shit
2
2
u/Unfeeling_Demon Apr 27 '26
I usually do the same thing, then with all the saved time, we look around for Super Credits, samples, etc.
There’s really no WRONG way to go about the missions, so long as you complete as much as possible and finish however you can.
2
u/doiwinaprize Apr 27 '26
Landing on extraction and dropping a resupply is a pro move.
→ More replies (2)2
u/Denegroth Apr 28 '26
It’s also a good tactic on highly contested planets where extract gets extra spicy.
You can pre load some extra supply packs and equipment at extract to aid with holding out at the end.

89
u/BruiserBison Apr 27 '26

u/blackbeard_teach1 Apr 27 '26
How? Why not starting at the edge next to objective and then finishing gradually to the extract?
2
u/JohnnyD423 Apr 27 '26
The most efficient way to 100% clear the maps with their current size is to do a circle. Landing at extract means you won't have to double back when it's time to leave.
99
86
u/Kruabo1 Apr 27 '26
I don’t think it’s waste of time, When I join in random mission before diving, we landing in the extraction zone then the host player called resupply on extraction for us so we can have 2 resupplies on extraction zone after completed the main mission/fully cleared.

I do much prefer this over bringing the optimisation booster. Sometimes, I much prefer a muscle or stamina enhancement.
8

Heavy armor with health and dead sprint is the way. Ammo booster is worthless.
3
u/Yoinklol Apr 27 '26
Muscle is my favorite one on most planet types. It's a lifesaver in blizzards, dust storms, and swamp areas.
50
u/blue_line-1987 Apr 27 '26
On a 40min it can be a good spot depending on the layout. On a blitz it's hamstringing yourself.
→ More replies (1)8
u/djddanman Apr 27 '26
Agreed. If you plan to loot the full map and complete all optional objectives, it makes sense to do a full loop. On a blitz I take a more linear path.

→ More replies (1)2
u/IHOP_007 Apr 27 '26
This right here.
If it was up to me we'd just always hot drop on the middle of the fortress, getting 4 free bot factory kills and having everyone there starting inside the walls just makes them so much easier to clear even if you burn 1-3 reinforcements doing so.
But I'm not gunna leave, unless I'm the drop master / host I don't have final say where we drop.

Thematically and tactically its sound, exfil is usually while not great, somewhat dependable and usually on/near a hill good for lookout points outside of city missions.
Thematically you drop in, 'squad, rendezvous here in 25 mins, bring the Democracy to them' type shit.
6
u/ILikeDragonTurtles Apr 27 '26
People like this make me feel like gaming has lost the plot. So obsessed with maximizing game rewards per time increment played, that it's not even clear they enjoy playing the game.
I just keep falling back on, "If the game isn't fun, stop playing." Everything you earn in video games is fake. You're supposed to enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
2
u/Jinxy_Xayah_Yuri Apr 27 '26
Speed running mentality unfortunately and while another poster said it real life time restraints do get in the way and just clearing a few missions is all, they myself included, can do in play session, its nothing personal most the time just trying to get the most out of the time we have to play, but if im sos diving, I typically scout the map and horizon for side objectives and run off to knock those out and any spawns on the way.
5
u/Indostastica Apr 27 '26
No??? If you have normal objectives its almost always faster to do a loop of the map.
The only exception is if you have a blitz, landing on the opposite side and clearing towards extract is typically faster as you have no main objectives.
3
u/anubis_xxv Apr 27 '26
Starting at extract is the only way to loop the map and avoid doubling back on yourself. It is by all measures, the most optimal route. wtf kinds of democracy drugs was he on?
2
5
u/Educational-Drag6974 Apr 27 '26
If bro is so worried about min-maxing his run he should just host his own. Also, what does it matter. 95% of the time I drop with randoms and we clear the map in like 15min and maybe spend the rest collecting POIs.
2
u/shion980 Apr 28 '26
This is a waste of time
Proceeds to waste more time by leaving and looking for a new match.
3
u/Chmigdalator Apr 27 '26
Was this an ordinary 40 minute mission? Then this Diver was a dumb ahole.
Was this a Blitz or a Commando mission? Then he was propably right. I do drop close to objectives in order to throw my Orbital Laser and other stuff fast before the Super Destroyer leaves orbit. Also in Blitz missions you have a narrow window to drop all 3 lasers in 12 minutes.

u/mischief_ej1 Apr 27 '26

LMFAO that guy is insecure as fuck if they're complaining about efficiency in a PVE random lobby.

Also extract is a pretty efficient drop in many cases if you're doing a full clear so they're wrong about that too.
1
u/tbrics Apr 27 '26
Best way is to clear from opposite of extract towards it saves the most time and is most efficient
1
1
u/Hasselpooof Apr 27 '26
i always drop at evac, mainly due to the lidar having been to close to the evac so many times and it allows for full exploration of the map from the start by going around the map instead of having to zig-zag the whole map, only time im dropping on the other end is during blitz, it just a smash and grab anyway
and as others have stated, allows us to drop the supply box at evac, nice to know that there is supplies waiting
1
u/KhaosRaptor Apr 27 '26
This dude is being dramatic but is 100% correct. People who dont plan their anding zone to allow the most efficient path to victory annoy the hell out me. Now im spending an extra 10 minutes backtracking cause we landed on the wrong end of the map.
1
u/HatfieldCW Apr 27 '26
Dropping on extract is often the best choice. It's not always best, but it's rarely terrible.
Frequently, I'll prefer to land between side objectives, run the map two by two and cut mission time considerably. This is good play, but it requires some thought when we're picking gear and communication to assign battle buddies and set up the plan.
If dude had a plan, he should have piped up before the drop zone was chosen. Dude seriously picked his whole loadout and played for a couple minutes before realizing where he was? That's bad play and a bad attitude.
1
u/RyanMcCartney Apr 27 '26
It’s only inefficient if you’re not planning on clearing the entire map including all sub OBJ’s. I always land in extract and circle the map because we’re clearing the lot. No oil left unspilled, no bug left undemocracised, no squid left unlibertised.
It also allows time efficiency in dropping supplies as you can place them in advance of extracting incase you come in hot to extract and need them.
I’d enjoy the entire 40 mins if I needed them. Sometimes, if breaches or drops keep coming, we hang around to kill as long as we can for the fun of it! Maybe the dude was just having a bad day.
1
u/4GN05705 Apr 27 '26
If extraction is occupied you'll definitely want to find out about it at the start of the mission rather than the end.
1
u/BDSMashed Apr 27 '26
Can ANYONE try to defend what he's saying at all? I have like 700 hours in this game and I cannot for the life of me think how landing on extract in general is any less efficient (if anything it adds the ability to drop a resupply, expendables and turrets)
Like not knowing the exact map...how could this possibly be less efficient?
1
u/redoctoberz Apr 27 '26 edited Apr 27 '26
I always start the center (10 missions) at 0,0. Some people it pisses off so badly. I don’t care what’s there.
1
1
u/theburner356 Apr 27 '26
extraction is often one of the safest places to land. Throw down my support weapons and an immediate resupply then off i go.
1
u/ChemistRemote7182 Apr 27 '26
It's not always though. We you discuss the route in the pregame before load out you all generally come to consensus with the host making the final call. Even when people don't have comms and don't use the chat box they will generally swirl and illustrate their opinion. Homie could have dipped out earlier if he disagreed so hard, this is frustrating. Yeah, once in a while dropping on evac makes sense, and it never hurts to then preload it with some kit for later.
1
1
u/BruiserBison Apr 27 '26
I started the game landing on red/near objectives because I thought that'd be more efficient. Lately, at level 110, I started landing on extraction first. Usually because my buddies and I try to die as few times as possible, while also hoping we don't end up near jammers or detector towers. Also because SEAF artillery and Lidar towers are usually close to or at least easy to spot from extraction.
1
u/Commander_Skullblade Apr 27 '26
He's salty but he's right. No use in starting somewhere that holds zero objectives, and is often out of the way of everything else. And where extract is often occupied on higher difficulties, it isn't safer either.

Why fight your way into a mega base or some other objective on foot when you can land in it right away?
1
u/hiroxruko Apr 27 '26
If we land on extract, I'll drop the resupply for later uses. Landing on extract isn't a bad thing
1
u/eAdagio Apr 27 '26
I mean its a bit of a cop-out landing spot, sure, but it’s not bad at all?? Lmao I land at extract on bots like half the time.
1
u/ElGuaco Apr 27 '26
Even if it's away from key objectives, the maps are generally small enough that you can run from one end to the other in less than 2 minutes.
1
u/Secret_Tapeworm Apr 27 '26
On some missions, such as on cyberstan, it was advantageous to land on extract and prep it for the mission’s end by calling in resupply, expendables, etc.
That guy did you a favor by quitting, opening a slot for someone who would actually play.
1
1
u/ShyBiGuy9 Apr 27 '26
Usually I'll try to drop in on the edge of the map directly opposite extract and work my way towards it, but sometimes it's easier to land at extract if there are a lot of enemy spawns scattered around. An added bonus is that you can immediately drop supplies at extract so you've got them ready once it's time to leave.
1
1
u/Lower_Orange_4031 Apr 27 '26

Lol kinda one of the better ways to do a full clear since you have a set start and endpoint, you can guarantee extraction is cleared of spawners and if you're smart you'll leave an extra resupply pod and whatever extra expendables/gear you won't be immediately using at the extract in case you gotta go for a hot exit

What an absolute fool. Landing at extract allows you to immediately clear the zone and prep a resupply for mission end -- two things you very well won't have time or resources to safely do 39 minutes from now.
Heh, casul clearly doesn't have what it takes to be one of liberty's chosen.

u/Overall_Cap4088 Apr 27 '26
Drop on extract. Call in supplies, sos, and disposables leave anything you don’t need for when you come back. Do a full circle on map clearing OBJs and POIs. Drop on extract 8/10 times.

1
u/Hallofstovokor Apr 27 '26
The only exception is spread democracy. Raising the flag is best done earlier in the mission so you don't have as many patrols to deal with. You'll only get the call-ins the game throws at you. Also, it's easy to run out of lives on the flag raise as you get swarmed and must hold ground.

Especially if there’s a side objective, mega nest, main objective near it ya it’s ideal as hell.
Drop a resupply right away so you have it waiting for you if things go south or you run out of time before you get there at the end of the mission
Insanely helpful strat
You deff didn’t want that Smooth brain diver on your team anyway haha

Lol, at least the trash took itself out I guess? Block em, call in an SOS, and continue spreading democracy!

The best starting places can vary from map to map, and sometimes extraction and the best starting place end up being in the same place. This guys a nutter.

I mean depending on the map, landing on extract can be great.
Drop supplies ASAP for the possible fight later. And then go around the map if you can.

Clearing the area around extract is usually a good idea, the spawns get more intense as the game goes on and it helps make your extract smoother

Lol, Where did they want to drop? On the fortress or mega nest so you can waste half the reinforcement budget in the first 5 minutes? Most of the time landing on extract is a safe option that will put you near at least a few objectives. And because of the way most extract sites are designed you have a defensive position if you get spotted by a patrol.

Starting at extract is always a good idea for one simple reason: You can stage equipment there for extraction, i.e. resupply, support weapons, manned turrets, even exosuits or vehicles.
But of course you get folks like OP's example who probably think doing anything other than dropping directly into the enemy base is suboptimal or unfun.

this is valid only at times. when every has absolutely nothing near it and objectives can be done without 100% backtracking

If I'm starting solo, I pretty much ALWAYS land at extract. I throw an SOS, throw a supply drop, then call in my support gear. If someone drops in right away, we work out which target we want to go for first, then we work our way around. Just bailing, and complaining about it, is pretty dumb IMHO.

What the hell is the problem with landing at extract? It tends to be a safe place to land. And if it isn’t? Fuck it, clear it out now rather than on the way out

It’s never that deep when it comes to landing, also way better than landing inside of the action.. this guy really need to go outside and catch some fresh air

u/FortShadow Apr 27 '26
Lmao I usually land on extraction, call a in support items and then leave a resupply for when we get back to hold out. Some people are too stuck on the "optimal" way of doing things that it takes the fun out of the game

The amount of times I hot drop on extract for there to be 1-3 jammer on extract is enough to make me drop on extract every time

I get where the guy is coming from, I also dislike drops on extraction. Just do a hot drop on the closest thing in your rotation, this can change depending on the obj locations thou. A lot of ppl play the game for different reasons, me personally I want to try and clear D10 asap so I'm looking for the best drop spot. Others....like most ppl in this thread seem to share the same opinion of dropping on extraction is ideal but that just seems like a waste of 5 minutes. But I normally just do SOS missions nowadays so I just drop in and kill

Dropping on extract is oftentimes a more sensible idea than "hotdropping" because you're almost always guaranteed a chance to get your gear, scope the map and plan your approach. Obviously less so when playing with randoms, but it's still a solid choice.
Some people are just genetically predisposed to be whiny bitches.
