Currently at Microsoft- What are your plans?

Hi guys, currently working at Microsoft and have only 2.5 years left on H1B. PERM paused due to layoff, not sure when it will resume given the suspension in place. Anyone in the same situation? What are your plans if this route doesn’t work out? Are you looking to switch? Or continue working and try out something else?

Parent of a US Citizen case approved

Hello everyone, I have been silently looking at everyones updates and approvals. My type of case is rarely on here so I had little to no direct information, so I decided to add my case to help other parents of USC’s over 21. My daughter has a full-time job and makes over the minimum needed for the affidavit, so we didn’t need another person. I did use a lawyer from Miami,FL (they were a recommendation) and at the time I was living in FL. I moved to GA right before I filled. We sent pictures of us throughout the years. So anyway, I was brought to this country at 18 mos old legally with a visa and an I-94 (idk how I never asked). I was able to obtain TPS throughout the years. I was not eligible for DACA because I didn’t meet criteria timeline. It took me 4 days to post since my approval due to shock and the fact that it took me almost 20 yrs to get a GC. I tried 3x with different cases but something always went south. It’s too much to write, I haven’t even gotten to my timeline lol but I have cried very hard. This is opening new doors for me in my career field and I can’t wait for the future. 🥳😁🥲

Timeline :
April 1,2026 - filled I-130, I-485, and I-765 concurrently
April 10,2026 - received
April 13,2026 - rejected due to incomplete application
April 30,2026 - sent corrected application
May 15,2026 - received
June 20,2026 - biometrics appointment
July 9,2026 - biometrics completed
July 9,2026 - I-130 & I-485 update online (we are currently processing both of your forms)
Oct 10,2026 - 2nd update online both forms again (we are currently processing…)
Oct 11,2026 - I-130 approved
Oct 16,2026 - I-485 approved

I-765 says pending but at this point it doesn’t even matter. Hope this helps someone. I am in Atlanta, GA if you didn’t read it before hand. I wish you all the Best of luck and may your timeline be completed soon.

Foia to USCIS

Are FOIA to USCIS and CBP in any way risky for LPRs who want to see their history before they file for citizenship if those LPRs have frequent travels abroad of more than 6 months.

EB-3 I-485 Pending Since April 2023 – Venezuelan Applicant. Anyone in a Similar Situation?
Hi everyone,
I’m a Venezuelan national with an employment-based EB-3 adjustment of status application pending since April 6, 2023.
Here’s a summary of my case:
Category: EB-3 (Employment-Based)
Priority Date: November 24, 2021
I-140: Approved
I-485: Pending since April 6, 2023
I-485J: Filed
Visa Bulletin: My priority date is current
Interview: No interview scheduled so far
Background Checks: Multiple biometrics appointments and background checks over the years
Congressional Inquiry: USCIS responded that my case is undergoing additional background/security checks
Nationality: Venezuelan
I’ve been waiting approximately 3.5 years for my I-485 decision, despite having an approved I-140 and a current priority date.
My case also involves a previous E-2 status extension denial and a pending I-290B, which may require additional eligibility review.
I’m particularly interested in hearing from other Venezuelan applicants affected by USCIS processing pauses or enhanced security vetting.
My questions:
Are there any Venezuelan EB-3 applicants still waiting for I-485 approval?
Has anyone received an I-485 approval recently despite the nationality-related processing pauses?
Has anyone received a similar USCIS response mentioning pending background or security checks?
Has anyone been approved without an interview after a congressional inquiry?
Is anyone considering a mandamus lawsuit because of these delays?
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences, timelines, and recent approvals.

H-1B → H-4 → H-1B while H-4 is still pending

One spouse was laid off several months ago, and an application was filed to change their status from H-1B to H-4 within the 60-day grace period. The H-4 application has now been pending for around six months.

If that spouse receives a job offer, what steps would the new employer and immigration attorney need to take to transition them back to H-1B while the H-4 application is still pending? How can they ensure the worker ends up in the correct H-1B status with the H-4 still pending?

For anyone still applying for the next role, application autofill can reduce repeated form-filling on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby.

Has anyone recently gone through a similar situation? I would appreciate hearing about your process, timeline, and how you handled the pending H-4 application. Thank you!

Crossed the green line after 9.5 years

Sharing my timelines:

Jan : I-140 approved under EB1 India with 2017 PD recaptured from EB2 to EB1 porting
Apr : I-485, I-131 and I-765 concurrently filed and I-693 submitted
May : Biometrics completed and 2 x FTA0 received
Jul : 2 x Silent updates
Aug : Case transferred from NBC to non local field office with interview waived per Emma live agent
Sep : 2 x Silent updates and 3rd FTA0 received
Oct : I-485J and I-485 approved

Took exactly 6 months from I-485 filing to case approval.

And with this the long wait period of 9.5 years to become LPR finally comes to an end.

Looking for immigration attorney who would do initial consultation free (or cheap)?

I'm an American citizen and a permanent resident of Hong Kong, currently in Hong Kong. My wife is a Philippines citizen and Hong Kong permanent resident, currently with me in Hong Kong. She has a US green card and we have some questions. I'm hoping to find an immigration attorney who would listen to our situation and then tell us if we need an attorney or should go it alone, and if we choose them, what they would charge. I've had quotes from various attorneys ranging from US$500 to US$1,000, and I don't want to pay that only to find out they're the wrong choice.
