AI overview

I'm in a K-8 school. Is there a way to turn off the AI overview in the Google search? I have Gemini and Notebook blocked, however, the student still get the AI overview in a Google search.

Google Workspace Forces Passkeys, Other 2FA Methods Unavailable

I'm honestly losing my mind over this, and I have no idea what else to try. I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar or knows how to fix it.

I manage Google Workspace accounts for our company, and Google has basically made it impossible to perform certain actions because it keeps forcing passkey authentication, even though we have multiple other 2FA methods configured.

Here's what's happening:

1. Google ONLY offers passkeys as a verification method, even for basic tasks.

Whenever I try to access sensitive account settings, connect Google services, or perform certain administrative actions, Google asks me to verify my identity using a passkey.

For example, even something as simple as changing a campaign budget in Google Ads triggers a passkey verification request. We're literally unable to perform routine advertising tasks because Google keeps demanding passkeys.

The problem is that we already have several verification methods configured in almost every email of ours:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Recovery/verification phone numbers
  • Multiple devices registered for 2-Step Verification
  • Other existing Google account security methods

But when I click "Try another way" or "Other ways to verify", NONE of these options appear.

Google just keeps offering passkeys. That's it.

Why am I being forced to use a passkey just to change a Google Ads campaign budget when I already have multiple working 2FA methods configured?

This isn't just an inconvenience anymore. It's actively preventing us from managing our clients' advertising campaigns and performing basic daily operations.

2. I can't even create or approve a passkey because Google requires a passkey to do so.

This is the most ridiculous part. When I try to create a new passkey, Google asks me to verify my identity using... a passkey.

If I try to authenticate, it redirects me to sign in again, then asks me to create or use a passkey again.

It's an endless loop.

It's literally like being told:

"You need work experience to get a job, but you need a job to get work experience."

HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CREATE OR FIX A PASSKEY IF GOOGLE REQUIRES A WORKING PASSKEY TO LET ME DO IT?

3. Android keeps selecting the WRONG Google account.

I have multiple Google accounts connected to my Android phone.

When trying to create a passkey for one of our Workspace accounts, Google automatically selects my primary personal Google account instead.

If I manually switch to the correct Workspace account, the process resets.

I can't even keep the correct account selected long enough to complete the setup.

4. This is also breaking our Shopify integrations.

We manage e-commerce operations, and whenever I try to connect a Google account through the Google & YouTube app on Shopify, the exact same authentication problem happens.

Google demands a passkey, refuses to offer any other verification method, and prevents us from completing the connection.

This is directly affecting our ability to work.

5. I've already tried changing Google Workspace security settings.

I'm a Workspace administrator, and I've already:

  • Disabled "Skip passwords" in Google Admin Console.
  • Confirmed that passwordless sign-in is disabled at the organizational level.
  • Tried accessing individual account security settings, only to get stuck in the same passkey verification loop.
  • Checked the passkey restriction settings, but they don't provide an option to completely disable passkeys.

Nothing works.

6. Google Support has been absolutely useless.

I tried contacting Google Workspace support through the Admin Console.

The AI assistant repeatedly sent me to the same passkey support form, even after I explicitly requested a human representative.

And here's the best part: THE SUPPORT FORM ITSELF DOESN'T WORK.

I fill out the required problem description, but the form keeps saying:

"Please enter a full description of the problem."

Even though the field is filled out.

I tried different text, manually typing, and everything else I could think of. It still refuses to submit.

So now I can't fix the authentication problem, can't contact an actual human, and can't even submit the support form.

What I actually need help with:

I don't want to delete individual passkeys. I want to stop Google from forcing passkeys as the only available authentication method.

I want to be able to use my password, Google Authenticator, phone verification, or my already registered devices.

Has anyone experienced this?

Is there any way to completely disable passkey prompts for Google Workspace accounts?

Is there a way to force Google to offer other 2FA methods instead of passkeys?

Could this be some kind of Google Workspace security policy or account verification bug?

And does anyone know how to actually reach a HUMAN at Google Workspace support?

I'm genuinely out of ideas at this point. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Workspace Licensing support loop

I'm having a very hard time with Google Workspace support. For the past 6 months I've been trying to contact anybody from sales to support to try and give Google Workspace money for licensing. I would submit a support ticket though our Google Workspace admin portal, but it says I don't have the proper licensing. When I try to buy licensing, it says my domain name needs to be verified (which it is), I try to change domain name to primary and it says I don't have the proper licensing. I'm in an endless loop! I was able to talk with 1 sales person who was "redirecting" me to support and I never heard back. Emailed sales person back 3-4 times, completely ignored. Submitted several contact forms to google, completely ignored.

I've never had to work so hard to try and give a company money.

If anybody has solutions on how to contact support in this situation, I would appreciate the help. Thank you so much!

Work account merged with personal

Has anyone had this problem? I created a google workspace account and somehow it merged with my personal and now that I'm trying to cancel my subscription, it's trying to delete all of my personal files with it. It's renamed the ownership of all my google drive files to under my workspace and now I'm going to lose everything if I unsubscribe. Has anyone else had this issue? Please help!

How to get access to Gemini 4 Argon?

I am on the busines standard plan and thought the "AI Expanded Access" would provide access to Argon, however, it doesn't seem to - it specifically says "Gemini app: Higher access to features and models, including Gemini 3...", which I already have access to.

How does one get access to the Argon on google workspace. It seems I could with my personal gmail account via Google AI Pro/Ultra - but would prefer to have access to it on my work account and I assume via google workspace would be cheaper?

Auto logout

I’m a business of one with zero IT experience. For confidentiality reasons I want to make sure my Gmail is locking after an hour of non-use. I’ve changed the reauthentication frequency to 1 hour under Google Cloud Session Control and it made no difference. If I try to open Google Session Control settings I get a 400 error. Please help? And again, zero IT experience so speak slowly. 😉

Gemini AI classification in Drive: on-modify labeling works but the at-rest

We’re piloting Gemini AI data classification labels in Google Workspace (the newer instruction-based setup, not example-based training). Five label taxonomy, instructions defined per label in the Admin console, auto-apply enabled for both active and inactive files, scoped to a ~15 user OU as a pilot.

The problem: four weeks after enabling, only 14 files have been labeled. Every one of those was labeled on modify, which tells me the classification itself is working fine. The at-rest backfill of existing files just never kicked off. These users have thousands of files in scope, so this isn’t the backfill being slow, it appears to have never started.

What I’ve checked:

  • Auto-apply is confirmed on for inactive files, not just active
  • On-modify labeling is confirmed working, so instructions and label config are fine
  • No errors or status indicators I can find in the Admin console

Questions:

  1. Has anyone actually seen the at-rest backfill complete? How long did it take and roughly how many files?
  2. Is there any visibility into backfill status or queue position, or is it a black box?
  3. Anything that silently blocks the backfill? OU scoping, label permission settings, something at the tenant level?

Google WorkSpace….HELP!

I have been locked out of my Google Workspace account for my business for months! The problem is that I changed my phone number without updating in Google immediately and 2-Factor authentication is killing me bc my new number is not registered with the account. I am not even able to get in through my back-up email. This also prevents me from accessing Google Support for my account—I have to be able to get into my account to request Google Support. Has anyone had this issue? If so—how did you correct it?

I have been paying for Google Workspace for nearly 10 years so this is very disappointing bc so much is tied to this account.

Google is billing me for a dead account - can't reach a human

I have been charged every month for a Google Workspace account whose email hasn't worked since June.

I did everything support asked. I exported my data. I requested cancellation and a refund. Google simply stopped responding.

Now every Help button routes me to an AI chatbot. It won't open a refund ticket, won't escalate, and won't connect me to a person. I'm not looking for help articles. I want my money back.

I've opened a dispute with my credit card company, but I'd rather resolve this with Google directly.

Has anyone found a reliable way to reach a real person in Workspace billing? A direct link, a phone number, a phrase that gets the bot to escalate? Any path that actually worked for you would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Google Drive Tomfoolery

I'm sharing Google Drive folders with two other people, but both recipients see completely empty folders.

Here's the strange part:

  • If I share an individual file, they can open it without any problems.
  • If I share the folder containing that exact same file, they can open the folder, but it appears completely empty.
  • Even files they've already accessed through direct links don't appear in the shared folder.
  • The files are definitely inside the folder on my end.

This happens with multiple recipients, so it's not an issue with one person's account.

Has anyone experienced this? Is there a fix?

Google Workspace Shutdown and Can't Identify Admin

I'm part of a nonprofit that's existed for several decades now. I've only been around for 4 years, but recently, out of nowhere, our Google Workspace subscription was cancelled.

The issue is, we have no idea who our domain administrator is. Was wondering if there's some kind of registry we can use to check which account would be able to renew our Google Workspace? I tried looking online but couldn't find anything.

Locked out of account, I am the admin, but can't figure this out

I run a very small business so I'm the IT, HR, Sales and Marketing department all in one. Today while using our info@domain email via Google I got locked out. I received a message on the screen that says "Administrator has cancelled your subscription to Google Workspace.". So I went to our original email of [businessname@gmail.com](mailto:businessname@gmail.com) and that is working but is not the admin account. How do I find out which email I used as the admin? This was done years ago and we haven't had to do anything like this before. We were working on a really important project in our Drive and now we can't access it at all.

I'm totally lost.

Deleted Google Workspace verification TXT record. Gmail won’t activate.

I'm having trouble activating Gmail for my Google Workspace domain, and I'm wondering whether it could be related to a DNS TXT record I accidentally deleted.

I originally verified my domain through Google Workspace using a TXT record, but I mistakenly deleted that record from my DNS settings.

The domain still shows as **verified** in Google Admin Console, but I'm unable to complete Gmail activation. I've looked through the Admin Console and can't find anywhere to retrieve the original verification token or generate a new one.

I also have a separate `google-site-verification=...` TXT record associated with Google Search Console.

I'm trying to understand a few things:

  1. **Are Google Workspace and Search Console verification TXT records interchangeable**, or does each service require its own token?
  2. Could deleting the original Workspace verification record prevent Gmail from activating, even though the domain still shows as verified?
  3. Is there a way to retrieve or regenerate the original Workspace verification token without removing and re-adding the domain?
  4. Does Gmail activation depend on the original domain verification record, or is it entirely separate once ownership has been verified?

I'm hesitant to remove and re-add the domain because I don't want to create additional problems.

**Additional context:** I'm not sure whether the missing TXT record is actually causing the Gmail activation issue or whether I'm dealing with two unrelated problems.

Has anyone encountered something similar or know how Google handles verification across these services?
