Giveaway Weekly Code Giveaway Thread

Every month, we see several posts offering GOG game codes and discount codes that people do not intend to use themselves. To make this easier and more organized, we ask that you share your code(s) as top-level comments on this post.

Ex:

Game code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

Or

Discount code giveaway for Game Name:

YEC8U25J3A**FEF0C3

** = 32-15

To be extra sure your code goes to a fellow GOG gamer and not a bot, list the game(s) you have keys for and ask Redditors to DM you to claim them. In this case, please make it very clear whether your codes are game codes or discount codes.

You're also welcome to use RedditRaffler or KeyShare.

Please follow these guidelines:

  • Do leave a comment when you claim a code so others know it is no longer available.
  • Don't post plain codes, as bots will most likely claim them for resale rather than fellow GOG gamers.
  • Don't add a discussion in a top-level comment. Respond to an existing code or use the pinned moderator comment.

Recommendation Remember to use the Dreamlist to vote for games you want to buy on GOG, especially for smaller indie titles.

https://www.gog.com/dreamlist

Now, there is certainly no guarantee a game will show up even if it has a high vote count, such as if the dev or publisher doesn't want to bother with GOG, or the legal situation is complex and/or murky. But it can convince some devs or publishers, especially smaller ones who find GOG's money valuable, and helps GOG know what games to pursue.

Discussion Could gog.com save *Condemned: Criminal Origins* following the removal of its PC version from Steam?

Condemned: Criminal Origins was recently removed from Steam. I was saddened to hear this news, as there was no longer any way to obtain it legally. This reminded me of GOG, which specialises in preserving old PC games. If any GOG administrators happen to read this, I would be grateful if they could add Condemned: Criminal Origins to the store and preserve the PC version of the game. It’s a classic from 2005; the game stands out for its unsettling and terrifying plot, full of mystery: what is it that transforms the mind of an ordinary human being into that of a serial killer?

Assigned to the Serial Crimes Unit, Agent Ethan Thomas must answer this question and bring society’s worst elements to justice. His case clearance rate is the best in the agency… perhaps a little too good.

Whilst investigating the growing list of serial killers, Agent Thomas comes to the conclusion that something is warping the bodies and souls of those whom society has marginalised. The homeless, the addicts and the deranged are emerging from the city’s darkest corners and committing senseless acts of violence. Could there be a hidden link between the increasing brutality of the latest serial killings and the rising crime rate? This question takes on new significance after Agent Thomas is framed for the murder of two police officers. He must now solve the homicides to halt the wave of killings and clear his name of the crimes of which he is accused.

As FBI agent Ethan Thomas, you rely on your sharp instincts and sophisticated forensic tools to investigate crime scenes, collect evidence and find clues that will lead you to the killers. With danger lurking in every shadow, you’ll need every weapon you can find to stay alive. If you run out of bullets, you’ll have to fight with a fireman’s axe, a spade, a pipe, a piece of wood or anything else you can find around you. You must ensure that nothing stops you as you try to uncover exactly who… or what is behind the horrific murders that are plaguing the city.

Discussion [Oblivion] The community shouldn’t stay silent when GOG gets things wrong.

Obviously, I’m going to talk about the recent Oblivion update, because I believe it’s the worst update GOG has released to date, and it doesn’t give me much confidence in what the future holds.

https://www.gog.com/en/news/the_elder_scrolls_iv_oblivion_joins_the_gog_preservation_program_alongside_ghostwire_tokyo

Why?

1. They broke OBSE support.

GOG KNOWS how important Script Extenders are for Bethesda games. Yet they still broke compatibility. And good luck getting an OBSE update for the GOG version of Oblivion, considering that the game’s modding community is becoming increasingly inactive.

And yes, GOG knows the importance of Script Extenders for Bethesda games. So much so that they listed SKSE compatibility as a selling point on the Skyrim SE store page: https://www.gog.com/en/game/the_elder_scrolls_v_skyrim_special_edition

This is an important point to consider, because players hate updates that break mods. We’ve seen this very clearly with Skyrim SE and Fallout 4.

Furthermore, a developer working on xOBSE stated that updating it could prove difficult, as this update may have affected the game’s executable code: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/the_elder_scrolls_iv_oblivion_joins_the_gog_preservation_program_alongside_ghostwire_tokyo_31d82/page5

2. The controller support is a JOKE. Seriously.

There’s no need to list all the people who have reported that it simply doesn’t work. And even when it does work, its limitations are painfully obvious.

The button mappings are terrible, seemingly random, clumsy, and downright stupid. For example, LS is used to select things instead of A.
Recently, someone here posted a video defending GOG and demonstrating that the controller support “worked.”

However, the video only confirms how half-baked the implementation is. The sensitivity is atrocious, and as already mentioned, the button mappings are poorly designed, with no way to change them.
It’s worth noting that vanilla Oblivion on PC could already recognize a joystick and a trigger.

So yes, this so-called “controller support” is downright embarrassing.

To give you an idea of just how embarrassing this is, even a mod that’s nearly 10 years old, created by a solo programmer, added better controller support to Oblivion than GOG’s “official support”: https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/48577

Why add half-baked controller support that performs worse than an existing mod?

According to some users, GOG misleadingly advertised its controller support in its promotional video by showing properly mapped buttons: https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/s/VakbeZ4x4A
But in reality, that’s simply not the case.

This update is amateurish work on GOG’s part, and I sincerely hope we won’t see a repeat of this.

I had already posted a review of this update, but I quickly deleted it because I didn’t want to be too harsh on GOG. However, I’ve come to realize that we shouldn’t stay silent about this. After all, what guarantee do we have that GOG will actually fix these issues?

Discussion Should GOG buy LegacyGames?

I recently found out that Legacy Games is shutting down as of February 28, 2027 you will no longer be able to download purchased games. They was said to be DRM free basically but needed the launcher app to download them since they didn't provide direct download access otherwise. While most of the games are point and click or find hidden object games. I think this would be a good example of ways GOG can be the one true DRM free game preservation services we gamers need.

Preservation Titles which would rock to have with control support

After buying Morrowind and Oblivion on the platform because of the controller support GOG offers, I thought about these titles too:

The Elder Scrolls: Arena.

The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall (Maybe adding Daggerfall Unity one click mod would work too?).

The Witcher 1.

The Witcher 2.

Deus Ex.

Deus Ex: Invisible War.

Dragon Age: Origins.

Do you have any others in mind?

Have fun!

Question Will classic GOG games always have support for Windows 10?

I know it's a stupid question, but I'd like to know if games from before 2020 will still be able to run on Windows 10, or if there will be a generational change. I'm on Linux, but I'm still worried that this might somehow affect the Heroic Games launcher.

Preservation I have purchased both Morrowind and Oblivion because of the GOG preservation program and one click mods

I was looking for excuses to support GOG and honestly this kind of treatment to good old games is a great selling point.

Also GOG just added regional pricing and now it's so much more attractive for me to purchase games from this platform.

Besides all of this, it feels great to support a platform like GOG, specially in the times we are living.

I'm glad for the great work the platform is doing and I hope it keeps going for a long time to come.

Support Why no mena regional pricing

hey GOG, I have been a gamer for about a year now and I bought most of my games of off steam and the only thing that is holding me back from buying games from gog even if it is better it doesn't provide any regional pricing for my country I live in Egypt and my whole monthly salary is about 200 dollars paying 30 dollars on a game on gog isn't justified for me when I can just pay around 15 for the same game on steam so please please please get mena regional pricing on the platform please

Preservation The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Game of the Year Edition Deluxe joins the GOG Preservation Program alongside Ghostwire: Tokyo

Two remarkable adventures get a special treatment GOG! The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – Game of the Year Edition Deluxe joins the GOG Preservation Program, while Ghostwire: Tokyo arrives on GOG for the first time, joining the Program as well.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion update introduces all five localizations (English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish), support for modern controllers and hotplugging, optimized controller layouts, and a fix for Alt+Tab task switching and a memory leak during controller rebinding.

Meanwhile, Ghostwire: Tokyo invites players into a deserted Tokyo haunted by supernatural forces. Harness elemental abilities, confront mysterious spirits, and uncover the truth behind the city's disappearance in an atmospheric adventure inspired by Japanese folklore. We’re pleased to welcome the game in our catalog, while also entering the GOG Preservation Program!

Now, both these adventures are accessible for years to come – so new players can discover them and longtime fans can return whenever the urge strikes.

Question Anticheat

I know that games on GOG don't have DRM. What about anti-cheat? I read something about MindsEye having Epic Anti-Cheat on GOG?

I use Fedora Linux. One of the main reasons why I switched from Microsoft Windows to Linux was to avoid anti-cheat for privacy and security, as I strictly play single-player and online PvE. I bought an online PvE video game on Steam with a kernel level anti-cheat that was not at all disclosed on the Steam page. Two other video games that didn't have a kernel level anti-cheat silently updated with one with no warning nor notice. Their Steam pages still don't show that they have a kernel level anti-cheat the last time that I checked, but they're there.

Now that Epic Games is bringing Easy Anti-Cheat v2 to Linux, I'm trying to weigh my options. So I'm considering switching from Steam to GOG since I can't rely on Steam to prevent an anti-cheat being added to my system, but if GOG also has anti-cheat in games, that kills that idea.

Discussion Oblivion controller support IS working!

Despite what others have reported here before the controller support is working in GOG's Preservation release of Oblivion. Here's video proof for those wondering. I am using an official Xbox controller and suspect most of those having problems are using a third party controller (8bit, Sony, or whatevs).

Discussion Update Stuck on 0% FIX - Specifically for Witcher 3 Remaster

Hi, first post here.

(tl:dr at the bottom)

I had this super annoying issue with Gog where no matter what, the game would refuse to update and the launcher would never tell me why. It was just stuck on 0% with no way forward. I tried clearing the cache I tried putting the game on another storage device that had TBs free - no avail.

Eventually I deleted the game and done a full reinstall and that seemed to solve it, though having to install the game from scratch is a bloody nightmare every time there's an update - on GOG the game is an absolutely sickening 150GB (due to additional language packs being installed needlessly (apparently).

So what fixed it for me in the end? Well it was stupidly simple. as I have been playing the game for a long time, and the game auto saves A LOT my saves had accumulated about 700MB of space and because of this the game couldn't sync my saves anymore. All I had to do was delete the old saves and that was it - fixed.

tl:dr - delete old saves to allow GOG to sync them to the cloud OR disable save syncing for the game

Hope this helps someone!

Discussion Questions about buying from gog instead of from Steam

So I'm currently looking at getting A Plagues Tale Requiem and was searching online for the best discounts. Looks like the biggest discount is currently on gog. I haven't bought from gog before as I'm mostly a Steam user. From my own research. I found the following possible downsides ( however not sure they impact me)

-Less storefront features than Steam. As this is a single player game I don't think this is an issue.

-Games on gog tend to get updates less frequently than on Steam. I don't think this is an issue as it's an old game at this stage and I doubt it's getting any more updates.

Thoughts?
