Gleeboot Hot take: I hope there are no new kids in the reboot

• Upvotes

I said it. Let it be some adult Glee thing, they are putting a broadway show or something.

If we have more kids, then its basically gonna be season 6 again with kids not getting enough screentime and older cast not getting enough screen time.

If it was just Rachel Sam Blaine returning, then sure. But if the whole cast is returning, I want to see them.

Question Artie’s audition removed from Disney+ version?

Hi all,
In light of recent events I decided to rewatch glee yet again and in the S1E1 audition sequence it seems that Artie’s was removed. Did anyone else notice this? Do you know when this happened? I can sort of understand why - it just seems a bit weird to me, especially since last time I watched it (probably last year) it was right there.

Gleeboot Ryan Murphy's writing

One thing about the reboot I dont hear much about is how Ryan Murphy has 10 years more experience and has mostly been doing horror, I wonder if this will influence his script writing.

I mean american horror story for example is such a completely different show and most of his shows are.

When I was 12 I had an obsession with Chris Colfer and after all these years I realized he was the closest to a feminine figure I allowed myself to be attracted to, not realizing I was literally lesbian. Circa 2016-2017

Character Disc. Duets that never happened

The show featured many duets that offered an interesting blend of voices, but there were also many that never happened. Which characters would you have liked to see perform a duet together?

Personally, I would have liked to see duets between Kurt and Artie, Madison and Mason, and Artie and Unique.

Discussion Hot take, Sue was way too repetitive of a character

This might be a hot take. I do enjoy the comedy that Sue and Jane lynch bring to the show, but I also think it gets to a point. Sue’s entire character seems to be surrounded by hating the glee club, then becoming friends with Will, then hating him and the glee club again, and so forth. I’m on season 6 of glee and I seriously have a hard time seeing why people like her so much STILL at this point. Her character is just very silly and cartoonish and the hurt locker storylines were absolutely not needed.

It doesn’t help that she has had absolutely no development the entire show, where characters like Rachel, Santana, and Quinn have atleast. I understand she’s supposed to be the villain, but her agenda just became annoying and unfunny by season 4. They recycle the same storyline for 6 seasons to the point where her hatred for the glee club stopped having any real purpose. In the earlier seasons, her opposition to the club atleast gave her a reason to interact with the other characters and create conflict. But eventually…it started to feel like she hated them simply because the writers needed her to be the antagonist again. Stuff like her hating Will again simply because he left a fork on a table. The writers definitely didn’t know what to do with her.

There are a lot of moments where I did like and appreciate Sue but I also dislike that she never had any lasting growth. It was also annoying that her “friendship” with Will never lead to lasting development. The show repeatedly establishes some degree of understanding between them only to have Sue turn against him and the club again. This is another reason why I don’t understand why literally any character (mostly Will) seems to get more hate than Sue, a literal criminal who never seems to have any sort of real consequence for her actions. By season four, you can practically anticipate that any moment of sincerity will eventually be followed by another ridiculous and stupid scheme. She’s a villain that becomes less interesting everytime I see her.

The other characters all undergo changes in their ambitions, relationships, self perception, and maturity. They make mistakes and experience setbacks but their experiences STILL contribute to their evolving characters. Sue by comparison is frozen in the same role. The show seems to be afraid to let her become anything other than the villain. I think she’s a character that really didn’t need to stay as a series regular after season 4. Her job was to be the villain for the glee kids, she did it well, and I think at some point they could’ve found a smooth way to put an end to her character.

Gleeboot Anyone hoping Beth will be one of the new reboot characters?

She’d be the right age if the show has a real amount of time passing, at 16/17. It could be a fun tie in for OG fans and obviously bring a lot of potential drama.

There would absolutely be a right and wrong way to handle it but I feel like it’s the kind of thing the showrunners would do. Thoughts?

Discussion I’m shocked that most of the OG cast is on board for the reboot.

I didn’t see them being down for something like that. Do we think Amber, and Chris will come on it? Those are the only two I’m unsure of. Also I hope they bring Jane Lynch & Lauren Potter (Becky) back!!! ❤️

I was so fascinated by Ian Brennan’s conversation with Kevin and Jenna on their podcast and how the later seasons shifted in tone. Everything started becoming too fantastical with every character landing lead broadway gigs one year outta high school, living in fancy New York brownstones while recording a big-budget album etc. I’d watch a show where Marley Rose is living a modest life working at her local bookstore and has a renewed passion for music and starts directing the kids at the local community theatre

Gleeks!!! What’s going on?!!

Now that the Glee revival has officially been announced, we’re allowing multiple posts about the reboot, as long as each post brings something different to the conversation.

Repetitive posts sharing basic or general information, or posts made solely to ask for personal opinions about the show on a larger platform, may be removed at the moderators’ discretion.

We want to keep the timeline from becoming chaotic while still making room for meaningful discussion. We know this is an exciting time, but we still need a bit of order. Please consider using the pinned megathread.

Discussion So....what song do they kick the return off with? We have 11 years of music to catch-up on.

My mind can't even begin to comprehend how much music hasn't been glee-d.

A cold cut in the opening to Pink Pony Club would be great...

But as a pophead, I feel like this is what Look What You've Made Me Do was made for...

Or do we get a power ballad to remember those we lost, or, since it is no longer on network, get Lea belting out the 'Bitch is Back' as she lands back in Ohio?

Discussion I don’t want to hijack the Santana conversation, so new post. How do you want the reboot to handle the Puck situation as he doesn’t deserve the same respect?

Dead or alive?

Do they just not mention him, like no one has spoken to him since high school? Realistic.

or

Do they do something cheeky like put him in jail? Too dark?

Discussion Concerned how they’ll handle this

Post image

My biggest reason for not wanting a revival, at least following the main cast, is Naya being gone.

There’s that part of me that likes to think Santana would live on in spite of whether or not Naya was here. If she’s alive, then they have to come up with reasons for her not to be on screen.

If they decide to have Santana pass, then that small part I held onto is gone.

I imagine the cast will be heavily involved in how they handle it and will likely do what they see fit. But either way it’s the toughest pill to swallow. Especially since it seems like Heather will be involved, so Santana’s absence has to be explained.

Naya is one of those celebrity deaths I think about every so often, and I didn’t think I’d have to mourn Santana too.

They loved Naya so I know it’ll be done respectfully as possible, and I hope it’ll be handled it a way that tributes both Naya and Santana. She’s more than just Glee and that’ll be key in how they move forward with it.
