Trying out my first prism glasses!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Today, I tried my very first prism glasses, and I absolutely loved the experience.

It might seem like a small thing to some people, but for me, it’s a huge step forward. Being able to experience the world in a way that feels more comfortable and accessible to me means so much.

It’s a little victory, but a big one for me. And I’m so happy to finally be making progress. 👓

I lost my sunglasses a few months after I returned home from a deployment and have been searching high and low for the frames or something super similar! Any recommendations would help.

I have no idea if this fits in this subreddit but I need help 💔 i just went to take off my glasses to clean them and the arm just came off???

It's not been loose and I recently had this pair worked on since I didn't wear them for awhile. Is there any way to fix this without professionally fixing them?

I tried my best to take photos but its not super easy to do ☹️

My new ones Converse hexagon frames and old ones Liz Claiborne cat eyes I believe.

I personally feel the old ones kinda hid my face and eyes. I really like both but I feel the shape of the hexagon lenses fit my face shape better.

First glasses ever

This is my prescription. I got the glasses today . I put them on and woah everything is crystal clear up close but everything distance wise is blurry . So much worse than it was and is without glasses . I thought I was getting glasses to fix that. Is it possible that the lenses were made wrong?

Why do you say about new, possible, frames?

I remain undecided but intend to match them with Zeiss Adaptive Sun Pioneer polarized lenses featuring amber flash coating. The second image is an AI visualization I generated to gauge a perspective—less this time—of how the result might appear.

The 3rd is at full sun the same combination. The flash coating gets more intense.

Rest images show different flash coatings. Silver (diamond), ruby, sapphire. And the last is an adaptive sun without polarization with a default gradient 60% at the top, 20% at the bottom with amber flash coating.

This will be my second pair that is more for an outdoor, as with blue/grey eyes I am very sensitive to light.

what is the trick to popping out the lens when there is no screw on the side?

do you push from inside outward (away from ears)? or outside inward (toward ears)?

which part of the lens do you push first?

Looking for a new style with high prescription

I've always gone with the rounded or cat eye style. I'm getting kind of tired of it and want a change. I've been considering rectangular frames, but not sure how to pick ones that could be made well with my prescription.

It needs to have adjustable nose pads. My nose is pretty small. If the nose frames aren't adjustable, I have issues with them not sitting at the center of my eyes, which warps my vision.

My prescription is -7.75. Will the lenses potentially be thinner with the smaller, more narrow, rectangular frames? My lenses are pretty thick in the two pictures above. Need some input 🥲

First time glasses buyer, frame fitting question

Hey I went to get checked last week and ordered my first glasses.
I have a question about the frame arms and nose pads, I heard you can go back and they can change the frames in some ways does this include the width of the arms and nose pads too?
I have a pretty wide face and nose and I am beginning to question and worry a bit that the glasses I bought aren't wide enough by default.

The whole thing felt a bit rushed, the optician wasn't unfriendly or anything but he sorta had the vibe of '' I've done this 985911 times, I am bored and going through the motions quickly ''.
When I tested lenses he basically gave me two options dunno if that's normal but I just got to pick between 1 and 2 which was best and read tiny letters.

Afterwards the lady that was helping people pick glasses was gone and only the cashier was there I guess she went on break or something.
Cashier guy was nice too but didn't seem to be the most knowledgeable and didn't really help much at all.
I just went around checking myself until I found some I liked the appearance of, and then he had me put them on and he marked where my pupils were which were in the center so that seemd fine?
But I thought he was going to measure my temple etc too but I guess not?

Now in hindsight I am worrying a bit that I picked too small glasses at least the width of the arms and nose pads.

New glasses!

I got my new glasses and I'm glad I went with these green ones. Thanks for the advice on my last post! They have a 15% FL-41 tint which the optician said she thought would help with my migraines without compromising my colour perception too much for me to do art. I'm surprised at how subtle the tint looks in these photos but they do make light look noticeably less harsh to me.

Some people on my last post said they wondered if all the frames I tried were too wide but seeing as I had no front facing photos it was hard to tell so I've put some here. I hope they don't look too big.

My old glasses are being turned into prescription sunglasses.

How do I see?

I’m +2.00 and I just got my first pairs. Is there a way to see far while I have my glasses on? Do I just need to relax and blur my eyes? Because relaxing them is the only way I can see close, so I’m assuming it’s the same, but I haven’t been able to yet.

Broke my glasses in acrobatics class — should I try contacts again or get a cheap sports frame?

I broke my glasses in acrobatics class. As a sporty person, I’m wondering whether I should try contacts. In my teenage years, people said I was ugly, and when I tried contacts once, it made me feel even worse about how I looked.
What do you say? Is it worth giving contacts another try, or should I go for a cheap frame for sports?

Eyebuydirect refund requests - FYI

FYI - if you request a refund from EyeBuyDirect, make sure you get your refund. I requested a refund, shipped the glasses back, saw it was marked received. Over a month later, I was checking my credit card bill and saw a refund never was posted. I sent an email and within seconds, they replied that the refund is on its way and it is now posted on my credit transactions. Paranoid part of me feels like they're hoping you don't notice.

I dont see with my glasses

I have glasses but soletimes i feel like yes i see better but i feel like i am seeing through a mirror i feel the frame on my face, i see everone wearing their glasses so easily, but my after many years i cannot adapt to them, its litteraly ruining my life. At school, i had to read a paper, my glasses are supposed to make me have a better vision, but i removed them, and i felt like it was better for me to read without glasses, but thats annoying why my glasses bother me that much ? Why i cant see with my glasses ?? I asked if i can have contacts, but my ophtalmologist said my correction is too low and it doesnt exist. I feel doomed. Btw my correction is +0,25,-0,50 and -0,25-0,75. I dont want to live like this. My dream is to do the surgery but i am scared, because on top of that i develloped floaters and bfep…

My old glasses had the PD done wrong

I went to a new eye doctor got new glasses and a new prescription for glasses. My old eye doctor marked my PD wrong. The new glasses are done correctly. I am experiencing double vision. They checked my glasses and everything is okay with them. Is this something my eyes just have to get used to?

Prism glasses and fitting

I might be freaking out over nothing, but I just got a new prescription that has prism. I picked out some new frames and they did not mark my pupils with the glasses on to see where my pupils sit. Is this fine ? I was under the impression that you needed to do this with prism glasses. Thanks for the help

How often are you supposed to get glasses adjusted?

Mine seem to get loose every couple months and then I’m back getting them adjusted again. Usually it starts with the frames sliding down my nose more, then the temples feel loose and they just don’t sit on my face the same anymore. Tightening them fixes it for a while but then it happens again. Is that pretty normal with everyday prescription glasses or does constantly needing adjustments usually mean the hinges/frames are wearing out and it’s probably time for a new pair?

What online retailer will ship Rx lenses to your home?

In the past, I was able to just order lenses to my home after providing my frame specs.

Today I seem to always run into a wall where they want me to mail my frames in. I can change my own damn lenses.

Does anyone still just ship lenses?

I’ve been looking for this frame for at least a year now with no luck in finding anything similar. These are Marilyn Monroe frames from Walmart back in the 2010-2020’s unsure of when I got them. If you or someone you know has these exact frames please contact me through Reddit or by email @ msxnicole@gmail.com
