So you found a photo that you think has a spirit or ghost on it, before you post it and get upset about 30 people saying it’s a piece of dust or a bug, you may want to read this!
BEFORE DOING ANYTHING
Do read the posts
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ghosts/comments/deki6k/explanation_of_orbs_aka_backscatter/
and
https://www.reddit.com/r/Ghosts/comments/icziuc/ring_doorbells_security_camera_videos_and_false/
As these really do have useful information on how to spot particle orbs, lens flare and insects crawling over lenses which do make up most of the post in this Reddit community channel.
It is common for people who believe they are haunted to take lots of photos and assume that any “orbs” must be related to this. In fact, it’s quite easy to photograph orbs. If you can’t see the orb then it’s not there. People might say that cameras can pick up ‘orb’ energy but a lot of them just don’t understand why digital cameras tend to easily pick up particles (dust, dander, hair, insects).
If you have read the above and are sure (or not quite sure) then read on.
BEFORE POSTING
Make sure you have the original photo downloaded or posted from the same device the picture was taken from. Having a photo shared from a social media site, screen grabbed on a phone, photographed from a screen or been email shared will likely to be low resolution and suffer from further compression which destroys any fine detail and will generally be useless.
If the photo is just a photo then scan the photo in at least 300 DPI and save it as a “.PNG” image. If you don’t have access to a scanner then you can take a photo of it but take it in a brightly lit room and don’t use a flash to reduce reflections on the photo.
Use the original resolution of the photo, do not rescale, resize, brighten the image to make posting easier.
If you have to edit the photo to remove people then draw the smallest black filled box you can to hide their face or them. Don’t crop the picture or remove large chunks of the picture. Keep the picture the same same size. Once edited, save / export the image as a “.PNG” image as this will keep the JPEG image as it is (if you resave it as a JPEG it recompresses the image in a lossy way so that fine detail tends to get lost) if the paint program has it then make sure that “Save resolution” is checked and that you save “EXIF information”.
If you must highlight anything in the picture (to show where you think the paranormal image is) then use a bright colour that can be seen easily, use a transparent box with thin lines and draw it in the general area of what you want us to see, do not cover anything nearby. Save it as a “.PNG” as above. If you do this then make sure you post the original too.
If you want to change the contrast or brightness of a photo then again do so but save as a “.PNG” as above and post the original for comparison. If you have other pictures from the same area that were taken at the same time then post these too as comparison photos.
If the photo is from a place you can visit again easily then take more pictures of the same area using the same camera, try to take it at different times of the day and try to take a picture at the same time of day the original was at. Also, take pictures of the surrounding area and close up images of the original location.
It is important to note that even “taking the picture in the same place” is going to mean that you will be taking the picture at different angles, heights and places which will cause images to change.
POSTING THE PHOTO
Post as an image within the Reddit post so people can see it, you can also post any comparison posts at the same time.
If the photo is too large then rescale it and save as a “.PNG” to post on Reddit but upload the original it to a file-sharing site like Google Drive or Dropbox, as this will not rescale the image.
Don’t just upload them to Imgur as most photo sharing websites will recompress the image and destroy fine detail in the picture.
Make sure the title is short but informative. “Possible ghost image from a cell in Alcatraz” is a good title, “GHOST!!?!?!?” is not.
ALSO SUPER IMPORTANT!!!! CONTEXT! CONTEXT! CONTEXT!
After you have posted the images. Make a comment in the post you have just created and put in as much context as possible!!! Too many photos tend to have the photo and some poor description and we have zero ideas of what we should be looking at.
Examples of what to include are…
So good examples would be…
“This photo was taken at the Alcatraz prison in San Francisco. It is a picture of Cell 13 of cell block D in the cell house. It was taken on Sunday the 13th of May 2018 at around 2pm. It was mostly sunny but there were thick clouds, it was reasonably warm at around 65f and there were strong breezes every so often.
The photo was taken by myself, although I was with my girlfriend at the time. It was quite busy but no one was nearby when I took the photo. I was trying to take a picture of my girlfriend as she stood at the door but I noticed a strange white figure behind her. There was no one in the cell as we had waited for another couple to finish taking their picture before we took ours. I took 3 photos and you can see that the figure is in 2 of the pictures but is not in the third picture.
My girlfriend did say she felt cold in the cell, we had taken a picture in another cell (134 in Cell Block C) and she did not feel anything. The rest of the day was fine though and we enjoyed our trip.”
“A photo of a chair my grandmother used to sit on, in our house in Stirling, Scotland. It was taken on the 1st June 2015, in the wee hours of the morning at 6.30am. I remember it was very cold and it was dark grey and cold outside like a typical morning in Scotland. I had the lights on as although it was morning outside, it was dark in the room.
I took the photo as I felt a presence and I was drawn to the chair. I took 2 photos and you can see a grey mist around the chair. I would have taken more but my phone just drained of power and switched off, not sure why this happens as I am pretty sure I charged it overnight. I don’t smoke, didn’t have any hot drinks. I was in the room all alone as my parents and sister were still in bed and my dog was still on the sofa sleeping peacefully.
Once I charged my phone and saw the pictures, I was filled with deep happiness, I tried to take more photos but the mist never came back. What do you think it is.”
Bad examples are…
“Ghosts?!???!!?!?!”
“I took this photo whilst in an abandoned building, do you think it is a ghost?”
“Whilst trying to contact my dead aunt to ask where she left her cash, I took lots of photos and all of them had orbs and I heard some moans, screams and creaking coming from my cousins' bedroom but her door was locked!!! Is the house haunted?”

I recently did the overnight stay at the park and I experienced things like noises, lights that would appear out of nowhere then disappear. One of the swings was moving constantly without any wind and I believe it was the swing the little girl was on when she was killed. There was a picnic table with dolls and toys stacked on it and nearby there were pinwheels and they would slow down and move faster then completely stop without any wind present.
What really started the experience was we arrived early for our daytime tour and we were in a group of about 10-15 people, this younger lady in a group began to feel sick and dizzy, our tour guide Chris asked her if she was fine and if she could make it through the tour then he began to tell us that it happens pretty often and that the feeling can’t be explained.
That night while we were in our tent I heard laughter from little kids we were camping near the old bus that Chris’s brother lived in when he was a carny and the lights came on and shined at our tent. Curious if any has experienced the same things or something different? What’s your story?

This is a good example of something behind me that has skeleton like features and is holding a whitish looking ghost around the neck. Look right above my left shoulder and you will see the skeleton shoulder and arm with a blurry weird head. Just to the left of that is the ghost with the bright lights for eyes. You can see long dark fingers wrapping around the neck of the ghost. There are many strange aspects to this one. If you look you will find a lot more than what I described. This is my reflection in a big mirror I have in my bedroom.

When I was around 14, I suffered from a mysterious health issue that no doctor or medication seemed to help. I was so weak that I couldn't even stand, and I would randomly lose consciousness at school. I spent months bedridden, and while everyone else eventually got tired of my situation, my mom never stopped believing something was wrong.
After trying everything, I eventually visited an exorcist. The process is still hazy, but he pressed my forehead and asked me to visualize my house. Somehow, I began seeing it in incredible detail in my mind. I then saw the entity that supposedly bothered me, pulling my legs while I slept and sitting on my chest. Before visiting him, I'd also feel as though someone was pulling my legs at night, along with a heavy weight on my shoulders.
He eventually compelled the entity to leave, and here's the part that still blows my mind: I arrived barely able to stand, supported by my mom and another person, but left feeling so unbelievably lightweight that I thought I might literally float away. They practically had to hold me down instead. 💀
Even today, I'm confused. Was I genuinely possessed, or did the exorcist hypnotize me? I honestly don't know.

I used the ai tool in the Gallery app on my Samsung phone to clean up the audio. It has to be someone singing. Maybe they are sing in Scottish Gaelic.

Apparently, the backstory of this location is that a very violent and abusive father used to live there and ended up taking his own life in the backyard shed. Now apparently a powerful spirit is haunting this house. He's capable of whispering that can be heard by ear and can throw objects with force. At one-point I'm told he threw a saw blade at someone in the house, here's a video of a possible interaction with him.
I don't know the exact context of him starting to record but based on the video it seems like he's been aware of the ghost at this point, and this video was made with the goal of exposing the ghost's existence, let me know what you guy's think of this.
I watched it many times and couldn't really notice much else from the encounter, but I wonder what you all think of this one.
My friend wasn't the person in the video however been getting many different videos from him about the place. She knows the guy personally but outside of that I don't have further context on the source

Please look at my front door and the wall next to it. Are those ghosts coming from there. Also it seems that some go from the wall into the door. What y'all think?

So I took this video two years ago and posted it to Facebook as it was a cute video of my puppy being, well a puppy. Today it came up on my feed as a memory and I re-watched it and could not believe what I was seeing. I never noticed it when I took it or when I originally watched it back. It was taken through the screen and it was raining but I have no explanation for this. I clipped the video to post here. Watch the upper middle in the back near the fence next to the bushes.

So this may be a weird thing to ask, and I'm not sure if this is the proper community to ask, but I've honestly always been wanting a ghost of sorts in my home and have been very fascinated by the idea since I was like 6 years old. Now I know people will say that it's not good to have ghosts in your home, and that it's dangerdangerous and bla bla bla. But is there not a way to invite a ghost into my home without getting one that's violent and or aggressive? Doesn't even have to be nice just don't wanna end up dying of mysterious circumstances. Call me naive, just curious about this and thought before I drag an Ouija board into my house to summon smth I'd ask.

Hey all!
First time posting here and thought I'd ask y'all to take a look at this video and possibly tell me I'm not looking at anything paranormal haha.
Got a notification from my camera just a while back mid sleep and it turned out to be this. I'm quite confused by it, however I'd like to say we do have bugs around and did think of the possibility it could be one of those, but after watching it frame by frame, I was lowkey spooked.
Thanks in advance!!

I live in a home with my parents and grandfather. my whole family believes in spirits, and me,sister and my mother are very intuitive and get feelings about things that are always accurate. i don’t have the best relationship with my grandpa so i don’t know for sure, but i believe he is very spiritually inclined. i move in 3 years ago and ive never had a particularly “haunting” feeling about my home but there have definitely been things that have made me uneasy.
my house was built in the early 70s and has one of those vintage built in intercom systems that have speakers on them. when we first moved here i turned them all off because they would occasionally made static noises and it freaked me out, and they have never been turned back on. i can downstairs this afternoon to grab a snack and my grandpa was in the kitchen. he asked me if any of my friends had just come by and rang the doorbell. i went and checked the door and nobody was there, and usually if a friend comes over they will text me or just walk in, so i knew nobody was there or had been there. i asked him why and he said about 5 minutes prior the intercom had made a doorbell chime, which it has never done, but apparently it’s been doing it at the exact same time for the past 3 days. we have a ring doorbell that is connected to its own speaker, not the intercom. we started to talk about it because we were both freaked out and he told me that that’s not the only thing that’s happened. apparently for the past couple of months he’s been waking up about every other day around 4 am burning hot, but when he gets up to check the thermostat, the hallway and all other rooms are ABNORMALLY cold and not matching the thermostat temperature. i am a very heavy sleeper and i believe i could stay asleep if i was sleeping in the Sahara desert so i have never experienced this, but its not something he would lie about and irs undeniably freaky.
now although i have never experienced anything upfront like this, there have been things that have freaked me out. i sleep upstairs along with my grandpa. the way our hallway is built is our stairs face straight to the bathroom and on the left of them is a hallway that leads to my room, my grandpas room, and the playroom on the end of the hall. whenever i get out of the shower and night and turn the hallway corner to head back to my room i stare straight at the door to the playroom. staring at that spot especially in the dark has always made my heart pound and has given me a deeply uneasy feeling. my bedroom is right next to that room and my closet is on the wall that connects that spot in the hallway, and all three of my cats have an obsession with going in my closet and meowing at nothing and sometimes scratching at the wall. and it hasn’t happened to many times, but sometimes if i’m in a dimly lit room i will see what looks like a very bright and large dust particle out of the corner of my eye, and when i turn to look at it, there is nothing there.
i have anxiety and i could very well just be letting it get the best of me, but i don’t want to speak too soon. i will post an update if anything else happens but for now please please tell me what you guys think and give any advice you can think of. literally any type of helpful comment is welcome. thank you!!!

I took this photo in Anoka, Minnesota, the Halloween capital of the world just days before Halloween in 2010. My friend and I were in a photography class and stumbled upon this stone tower along the Rum River at night. As I was taking a handful of long shutter speed pictures while slowly panning my camera in-between shots, my friend was telling me horrific stories about this stone tower and how witches supposedly gather there and sacrifice animals in ritualistic ways. He said that’s why they put floodlights on the bridge aiming down at the tower. While I’m not sure if any of this is true, I did capture a very scary photo in the midst of all my long shutter speed shots, and it’s the only photo that has the misty looking ghost skull in it, which was smack dab in the middle of all the other shots. I did not see anything in person. It only appeared in that one digital photo. It creeps me out to this day and I have never gone back. I have since looked up the history of this tower and it appears that there are 3 of them along the Rum. There was no malicious intent behind building them originally. The builder Thaddeus Philander Giddings originally built them for musical gatherings with family and friends. (I included a couple more photos taken within seconds of the one with the ghost to show it only appeared in that one photo.)

Hi guys, idk if this is the right place for this but it is getting to the point where i am terrified and idk what to do.
I don’t believe in ghosts or anything paranormal but the past 2 weeks are really messing with my head and i need advice because i don’t know what’s going on.
2 weeks ago, i woke up around 3am, rolled over in bed and saw a figure standing near my door. She was facing towards my mirror which is placed next to my door.
I tried to rationalise with myself. I live with 2 girls so i thought maybe it was one of them but the more i looked, i could see details that were definitely not my flatmates.
She had shoulder length grey hair. She was wearing a blue long dress with full sleeves, and a white sash thing around her waist.
I stared for a good 3 minutes as she continued to face away from me towards the mirror. She began to kind of slouch a bit? and then when i blinked, she was gone.
It wasn’t sleep paralysis. I could move. I called my flatmate immediately telling her what happened once the figure was gone.
But that was only the start of the past 2 weeks.
Since then, my phone broke. All my bank cards stopped working. My laptop broke. My keys were lost. everything just started completely falling apart.
I became so ill i couldn’t keep food down for a week. There was no medical explanation other than stress which in all fairness could have been the cause.
The worst was last night.
In the middle of the night, pigeons flew into the brick wall outside my window, dying and falling to the floor.
There were only 3, but still wtf?
And then after cleaning up the bodies, i get to uni, borrow a laptop from the library and then the minute i sit down in the lecture, it begins blaring alarm sounds and completely breaks/shuts down.
I don’t know what’s going on. I do t believe in this stuff but i just don’t know how this is all happening.
I understand it could be a mix of stress/extremely bad luck but ive never had this before. I just moved into this flat a month and a bit ago but everything was going ok.
Advice would be greatly appreciated. I don’t know what to do.

Random and a long shot but, does anyone remember seeing that YouTube video of this family that either filmed their child’s birthday party or took pictures during the party. And in one of the photos they caught a child ghost standing in the corner It had a very angry/jealous sad, expression maybe even demonic facial features. Cannot for the life of me remember what the video was called. Really creeped me out the first time I saw it. Be interesting if someone manages to find it.
