Dear Universe, Please Let It Be My Turn This Time

I don’t think I’ve ever felt this lost and helpless in my life. I’m so tired of trying so hard and still getting nowhere. Every single day, I wake up with a little hope that maybe today something will change, maybe I’ll finally get that one opportunity I’ve been praying for. But every day ends with the same disappointment.

Watching everyone move forward in life while I’m still stuck in the same place hurts more than I can explain. I’m genuinely happy for them, but sometimes I just sit there wondering, when will it be my turn? What am I doing so wrong? Why does something that seems so normal for everyone else feel so impossible for me?

I’ve started doubting myself in ways I never thought I would. I miss the person I used to be, the one who had so many dreams and actually believed they would come true. Now I’m just trying to get through each day without breaking down.

And to the universe, if you’re listening, please, I’m begging you, let something good happen for me too. I’ve been trying to stay positive, trying to trust the timing, trying to believe that everything will eventually work out. But I’m tired. I’m so emotionally exhausted, and I don’t know how much longer I can keep pretending that I’m okay.

What do you do when an interviewer keeps asking “why?”

Sometimes I feel the difficult part of an interview isn't the first question, but the follow-up questions.

You give an answer, and then they ask “why?”, “what did you do?”, or “what would you do differently?” and suddenly you have to explain your answer in much more detail.

How do you prepare for this?

Do you practice follow-up questions separately, or is it better to prepare your examples well enough that you can talk about them from different angles?

What would be a good job to hop into going from apartment painting?

• Upvotes

So right now the job is good and it's the only one I've known since high school and I'm almost 30. It's my dad's small painting company but despite that it pays well enough to get by and pay the bills I don't feel like it's been good for my mental health. I've struggled for a long time geting home at a reasonable time due to things like adhd where I tend to get distracted and low energy even with meds and as of the last two years I've struggled to get out of bed like my mind is awake but body is dead weight for like a hour before being able to move so I tend to get to work late and get home late because job is done when done with no punch in or out time. Think somthing with a bit more structure would be better since when I do have to meet up with some Co workers at a perticular time I'm much better at getting moving .

Current job has been great for podcasts and audio books because the jobs are usually solo with a lot of solace but in case situation ever ends up bad like dad dieing or business can't continue I was wondering what would be a good transition job to look at for somthing different that doesn't need schooling and can match my general pay of 1200-1400 biweekly in Pennsylvania. I've considered looking at warehouse work as my backup but I've heard horror stories about egoistical bosses and unsure how the job security is and I've heard great things about working at Costco but I've never worked anything close to retail and the various stories of "retail hell" I've been told has me a bit worried especially because I have a generalized anxiety disorder diagnosis although generally the main trigger for that is hostile arguments. The disorder I think is also making me over worry and over think the difficulty of transitioning to new jobs but the way the economy is, not haveing a good financial safety net atm really adds to that anxiety because I was lucky enough to get a mortgage and house right before things got real bad but savings took a hit after some perticular life event. Figured this place would be a good place to ask what a good transition job out of apartment painting would be since I assume those skills would transfer to some other thing relatively well.

Unemployed for 2 Years, Running Out of Savings. Looking for Referrals, Freelance or Part-Time Work

Hi everyone,

I have been unemployed for the last two years, and honestly, I am reaching a point where I don't know what to do anymore. My savings are almost exhausted, and I urgently need to find work to support myself.

I am reaching out to this community in the hope that someone might be able to help me with a job referral, a freelance project or even part-time work to help me get through this difficult phase.

My skills and experience:

  • SQL: Writing queries and working with data.
  • Advanced Excel: Data analysis and reporting.
  • Power BI: Creating dashboards and reports.
  • Tableau and Python: Basic knowledge.
  • Business Analyst skills: Requirement gathering, documentation, stakeholder communication, and related tools.

I have around 3 years of professional experience as an Associate Consultant and have worked with data analytics and business analysis. I am also willing to learn new tools and technologies if a role requires them.

To be honest, this prolonged unemployment has taken a serious toll on my confidence and mental well-being. I feel frustrated and demotivated most of the time and it has become difficult to stay positive when I am trying but not getting the opportunities I need.

I am not looking for a perfect job right now. I am ready to take up part-time work, freelance projects, internships or any relevant opportunity where I can contribute, learn, and earn. If your company has any openings, I would be extremely grateful for a referral. Even a small project or a lead could make a real difference for me right now.

I am based in Delhi, India, and open to remote opportunities as well.

If you have any advice on how I can restart my career, improve my chances of getting interviews or find genuine freelance or part-time work, please share it with me.

I know this is a difficult job market, but I am still willing to put in the effort and work hard. I would genuinely appreciate any help, guidance or leads.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

7 interviews then ghosted

I submitted my resume to a company. Heard back in two days. Recruiter scheduled me with the hiring manager for when they got back from pto. Then I interviewed with the hiring manager which went so incredibly well. We got along so well. They immediately emailed and set me up with another interview. Loved that person too. Again, he said I hope you move on, I’d love to work with you. Then I get scheduled for four more interviews with the executive team. All seemed well. Everyone was so great. I enjoyed every person I talked to. I felt like I nailed the questions and the culture fit. A few people including the ceo were fine chatting longer and seemed to also enjoy the convo.

I genuinely thought I’d be preparing myself to resign and accept an offer.

Welp, haven’t heard from them since and that was over a week ago. I followed up but nothing.

I’m truly shocked because things seemed like they couldn’t get better. Everyone seemed happy and told me they enjoyed the conversation. I’ve never made it to the executive interviews and not gotten the job.

Now I’m sitting here wondering why they haven’t even let me know one way or another! 😩

Confused choosing where to go!

I’m looking for some advice, I have worked in a UK bank for 6 months and currently I’m working in a UK council as a complaints Officer, my main experience is in complaints (finance industry). Apart from that I have 1 year of experience in customer service and 2 years in recruitment as well. I’m planning to move to Europe but I am not quite sure which country will be a best fit for me best on my background?

Is this even possible with this experience I can get sponsored job in Europe, if there’s any demand. I will appreciate any insight of yours! Thanks

How to explain employment gap and overcome interview anxiety?

Hi, i'm a 25 year old engineer. I graduated in 2025 and immediatly started a PhD, so i'm now on my second year. I have never had a full-time job or really tried to get one. I live with my parents, and they've recently hinted that i need to find a job and a place to stay. For better words, they basically told me to get out. While i had some money from an intership that covered my personal expenses for a year, i'm now in a position where i desperatly need to earn money. My biggest hurdle is a deep seated fear of job interviews. I get incredebly anxious and feel like the interviewers are judging or making fun of me. i literally shut down after every interview and then have a mental break down. this fear has caused to stop looking for jobs altogether. im not sure how to move forward.

how do i explain the gap since i graduated without having a traditional job? does my work on my PhD count as experience that i can use to fil that gap? any advice on how to manage extreme interview anxiety and imposter syndrom?

Interview Offered Before Job Closed

Hey guys, will give a timeline to show how events played out. I’m basically just looking to see if anyone shares the same views as me or if I’m looking into it too much.

I am an hourly blue collar employee at the moment.
My company posted a salary job (supervision type) with an internal job posting. Only available to current employees. The job was posted on Wednesday and closes the following Tuesday . I applied to the job at about 10am on Thursday and my direct supervisor called me to ask me about it about 45 minutes later. At 3pm, I was called by the hiring manager to schedule my interview. I let my supervisor know I was given an interview and he acknowledged that he and the hiring manager had spoken about it.

I am qualified for the job, however I know there will be TONS of applicants due to seeing these jobs posted and filled before and I fall on the much younger end of what the pool of applicants will be I believe. I was throwing my name in the hat to just get management aware of me and see that I am looking towards upward mobility and furthering my career in the future. (A lot of people in this line of work stay in the field, blue collar, just because of the type of work it is and the money/overtime involved with the blue collar work.)

I am assuming the hiring manager called my supervisor to ask the low-down on me. I feel as though they are quite interested in me due to offering an interview before they have even seen all the applicants and the job has closed. (They normally only interview about 10-20% of the people that apply.) Am I overthinking it? In your experience am I looking at a pretty good shot, or is this just a pity interview to keep me in good spirits with the company?

Thanks for any and all input you could give!

Interview prep tips

What does everyone do to prep for an interview?

I have a second interview in 2 weeks (I’m very excited!) and I desperately want to nail this. I have a feeling my interview skills are lacking. Every phone interview has led to a virtual interview and then I hear nothing back. This has happened 3 times in the last 6 weeks I’ve been unemployed.

This upcoming one is 3 rounds (20 minutes each) with the team I would be working with (it’s a department of roughly 12 people within a large company).

help!Need advice.

Hey everyone, I am very new to Reddit, but felt like sharing something.
I was in Mumbai for my first-ever job in life. I got placed into a lala company. 2 months were okay, but then it started getting bad and my experience was totally bad there, so I left it. Overall I have 4 months of work experience as a project manager (role which is something they did not mentioned in the JD) And now it has been 2 months since I have left my job and I am not actively applying(ik i should).
I am very confused now.

There are 2 things in my mind:

  1. I feel like I am not gonna get any job, and
  2. I want a hybrid role. I can't work 6 days from office; it is too much, and for hybrid roles I want roles like BA, MA, or data analytics, but I have no experience in those roles. What should I do? I feel like I am stuck in a loop. I need a job, but have no experience for that. To get experience, I need to have a job, but then again, we are back to square one.

Can u please suggest something

Hiiii so I've been looking into ACAST job opportunities and its like a podcast company, but I wanna know if anyone has experience working here. Is it a fast paced enviorment? Is it stress-inducing? Is the work culture and people good? Is there diversity? Is there a work-life balance

Anything would help!!
