Tyre change and storage garages, alternative to Pneus Claude ?

• Upvotes

Been using Pneu Claude in Satigny for my tyres for the past 5 years.

Recently had a bad experience with them. They said my summer tyres were fine, and had about 1 year of driving left before they needed to be replaced, on 26 June. On 7 July my car had a service in Italy, and the mechanic basically said my tyres were in an awful condition and at risk of a blow out. So I bought 4 new tyres on the spot.
I am annoyed that Pneu Claude said they were fine for another season when they certainly were not.
Additionally when changing from Summer to Winter last November, one of my winters was damaged by them in storage so I had to buy 2 new tyres (they made me pay for only 1) but again not a great service from them.

Have sent 3 emails since July with no reply to their desk email address reception@pneusclaude.ch, have sent a final one today but if no reply I will send a registered letter.

So I am looking for a new tyre garage in Geneva to do the changes and the storage going forward. Who do you recommend? Not enough space in my Cave to store myself. I pay about 180chf per season.

Thank you very much!

Hi everyone, i’m looking to get a bike repaired and might also consider converting a regular bike to electric. Can anyone recommend a local shop with a good reputation and reasonable prices ?

If you’ve had a bike converted, i’d love to hear how it went and roughly what it cost. Thanks !

Hello everyone,

I'm working on a project to create a mini display showing real-time wait times for public transportation.

I’ve included all public transit systems in Geneva and 34 other cities (in France, Switzerland, and Belgium). More cities are coming soon.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! If you’re interested in the project, check out my TikTok, Instagram, or website, it’s called LEDoMATIC!

Have a great evening

Affordable coworking space where dogs are allowed?

I need to do job applications and my brain just doesn't want to function at my home.

Are there spaces around Geneva that are calm, where I can work with my dog chilling at my feet?

Merci!

MSc Commodity Trading

Hi everyone,
I’m posting because I would really appreciate some advice from people who work in commodity trading or know the industry. I’m feeling a little lost about my career direction and would like to hear some honest perspectives.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and started a Master’s in Clinical Psychology in Switzerland, which I didn’t complete. I then worked as a client advisor for a Swiss insurance company, mainly dealing with insurance and pension planning. I’m currently working as a client advisor in retail banking in France.
I’ve realised that I don’t enjoy the constant pressure to find new clients and meet sales targets. I enjoy advising people and working with clients, but I’m not sure I want to continue on a traditional commercial career path.
I’m considering applying for the Master in Commodity Trading at the University of Geneva for 2027. However, my academic background is in psychology rather than finance, economics or engineering, so I’m unsure how realistic this career change would be.
I’m also considering a Master’s in Wealth Management, which would be a more natural continuation of my current experience. However, I’m concerned that I might end up in a career that doesn’t suit me.
I want to emphasise that I’m willing to put in the work to bridge my knowledge gaps. I’ve enrolled in mathematics courses at different levels and am constantly studying and revising to build the mathematical foundations I may need. I’m ready to learn and put in whatever effort is necessary to prepare myself for this field.
If anyone is willing to share course materials, textbooks, recommended reading or other resources that could help me get up to speed, I would be extremely grateful. I’m genuinely prepared to work hard and do what it takes to give myself a realistic chance.
I would particularly appreciate hearing from graduates of the University of Geneva’s programme or people who entered commodity trading from a different academic background.
Given my background, would pursuing this master’s be a reasonable career move? What would you recommend I focus on to prepare myself?
Thank you for any honest advice or resources you can share!

Tennis clubs in Geneve

Hi everyone,

I'm relocating to Geneve next month, and hoping to continue playing tennis as quickly as possible after I arrive. Are there any tennis clubs people would recommend and is it difficult to join? Where I am from there are lengthy waiting lists but hoping to avoid this if possible...

I can also play 12 months a year where I am from so hoping to continue this too, and happy to pay a little more for a club that offers indoor tennis in winter. Bonus too if the club offers social tennis and/or group coaching.

I'll be staying near Rue de Lyon initially and working in Vernier close to the airport, but happy to look around the city if some clubs are better.

Also if anyone would like a hit it would be great to meet some tennis players, I am high intermediate/low advanced (not sure how our grading system translates to Switzerland)

Thanks for any responses!

Hiking, trail running & beginner chess, anyone up for it?

Hi everyone,

I'm born and raised in Geneva. I mostly use Reddit for recipes, and like any good Genevan I follow this sub too. I'm not usually one to meet people online, but I'd like to widen my circle a bit, so here goes.

What I'm into:
- Hiking, trail and running.Happy to adapt to any pace.
- Chess. I've recently started and I'm still very much a beginner, so I'm looking for a partner to play and learn with, over the board in a café or online.
- Entrepreneurship and cinema. Always up for a good conversation about a project or a film.
- My little dachshund, who's usually part of the plan.

On a more personal note, I've been with my girlfriend for several years, so this is purely about friendship. Couples, solo hikers or chess players are all welcome, whether for a hike, a coffee or a walk by the lake.
I'm comfortable in French and English, and mostly free on weekends and some evenings.

If any of this speaks to you, drop a comment or send me a DM, with a short description of yourself.
Enjoy your weekend!

Any jazz/classical music lovers in Geneva? What's the local music scene like?

I've moved to Geneva only recently and I am a huge jazz and classical music fan.

Any tips, where to start looking for concerts, tickets, or jazz bars with live music? Thanks!

Life in Geneva as a junior?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently in my final year of a Master’s in interior design, exhibition design and visual merchandising (and my last year of studying altogether, woohoo!), so I’ve been thinking a lot about what I’d like my life to look like after graduation, where I’d like to live, and where I could find a job in my field.

I love living in Paris. The cultural scene is amazing, there’s always something to do, and I really enjoy the energy of the city. Buuut Switzerland is calling me! I really loved the atmosphere in both Geneva and Lausanne, and I’m considering moving there for a few years after graduating, potentially staying long-term if I end up loving it, or moving somewhere else later on.

I’d love to hear from people who live there! What’s everyday life like (especially if you don’t drive)? What do you love about living in Switzerland, and what do you find frustrating or miss about living elsewhere?

I’m also wondering whether Switzerland is a good place to start your career as a recent graduate, particularly in a design-related field, or whether it would be wiser to gain a few years of work experience elsewhere first and move later on.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially if you moved to Geneva from another country or started your career there as a junior!

Thanks in advance! :)

ASD 6yo child, schools in Geneva

Looking for some advice about schools in Geneva but specifically for kids with ASD/SEN. Our daughter is in Ecolint and we are struggling with lack of support. We are not sure it's the right setting and have lost confidence in the school. The school is supposed to be inclusive but we feel it's the opposite and we are being managed out. Looking for others that might be able to sign post schools which are more supportive of SEN kids. We also find the class sizes this year are huge so we are looking for somewhere with small class sizes 16kids or less, as we know our daighter thrives in less hectic environments.

The sky almost stole the show from Geneva’s Jet d’Eau [OC]

Geneva was the final stop of my European road trip last August, and it turned out to be a beautiful place to end the journey.

I spent some time photographing Lake Geneva and the famous Jet d’Eau. What really caught my attention was the dramatic sky, with heavy clouds, shifting light, and sailboats adding a different character to every frame.

I also enjoyed the contrast between the lively waterfront and the quieter views of the lake surrounded by greenery.

Here are four of my favorite photographs from Geneva.

Camera: Fujifilm GFX 50S II
Lens: Fujinon GF 32–64mm f/4 R LM WR
Edited in: Adobe Lightroom

For those familiar with Geneva, what are some lesser-known viewpoints around the lake that you would recommend photographing?
