I feel like this is a great rundown of both what Fresno County stands to gain and also stands to lose whether S passes or fails. It's important to note that the draft competing measure from the no on S campaign significantly reduced transit funding from what measure C currently has. So Fresno County would likely lose service if the competing measure is what goes forward eventually.
"The money for free bus fares doesn’t come out of the portion of tax revenues allocated to public transit agencies. Rather, it comes from the 4% set aside for access and innovation programs.
Also under Measure S, all transit agencies will be required to expand hours and increase frequency of services, including on nights and weekends; provide non-emergency medical transportation; increase paratransit service; add lighting and weather protections at bus stops; and add university and college transit options.
“[Measure S] is a public transportation tax, funding buses that people don’t ride,” Fresno County Board of Supervisors chairman Garry Bredefeld said.
During a recent “No on Measure S” press conference, Valley Watchdogs PAC chair Brooke Ashjian joked he was late because he “took the bus” and was “the only one on it.”
Ridership figures, such as those published by the Fresno Council of Governments, do not support those claims.
The county’s largest public transit system, Fresno FAX, counted nearly 10.4 million rides during the 2025 fiscal year.

Terance Frazier, the same guy who allegedly screwed over the Franco family, the same guy who allegedly ran Granite Park into the ground, the same guy who has been suing the city claiming they discriminate against him because of his race is running to be a "trustee" of our community college district. This time, he was caught snooping in his opponent's mail. You can't make this stuff up.

Fresno’s Tower District residents brought the heat to city leaders in a packed Tower Theatre Wednesday evening, raising questions about the city’s policing strategies as more police presence hasn’t stymied a string of violence on the Olive Avenue corridor.
In the hours following a nightclub shooting last weekend outside a Tower District nightclub, Fresno leaders rushed to implement a series of safety measures to address what they say are much needed improvements to the city’s premier nightlife neighborhood.
“Our goal is to have zero tolerance for violence in the Tower,” said Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer at the tense and contentious community meeting. “That’s my promise. That’s our promise.”
Flanked by city councilmembers, law enforcement officials and the city manager, Dyer hosted a crowd of more than 500 neighborhood residents on Wednesday in a rare town hall to provide clarity on what changes are coming to the neighborhood, and to get feedback from the community in real time.

Was feeling peckish today and I wanted to try something new, so I went to this Mexican spot that I have been wanting to try for a little while now: Lalo's Taqueria. The result? Some of the best damn food Ive ever eaten, and one of the best experiences I have ever got at any resturant in general.
I attached a photo of my order here, but if you want to know exactly what it was, I got:
A regular burrito (chicken, no beans, w/ onions and cilantro) - $10.75
A a la carte side of rice - $4.25
Regular drink - $3.25
Total came out to $19.50. Might sound like a lot, but with how it came out, the inclusion of chips and salsa and how filling it is (very), it is a pretty good deal to me. The staff there was also very nice, especially the lady who was the cashier, who allowed me to take my time on deciding what I wanted, given I was a first time customer. As someone with autism, social interactions can be a little uncomfortable for me sometimes, but this was one of the most comfortable interactions I have ever had.
In fact, I am writing this specifically because of her, as she seemed like a very kind and sweet person, and I had a great experience at the resturant, so I thought I'd return the favor and spread the word about this spot. You all should come and try it at least once. You will not regret it.
If you want to know where this place is generally, it is on Tulare Ave, right before (or after) you pass Maple. I highly recommend coming here. Great food, great staff and a great experience. 10/10, complete home run.

Hello, I just moved to Fresno/clovis area. Looking for a dentist that does monthly memberships plans with no insurance needed. My previous dentist had a plan that provided 2 cleanings and 1 x-rays a year by making $40 a month “membership payments”.
Looking for something similar here.
Thanks!

Haven't had power for 24 hours and PGE is saying I'm looking at another 24 hrs at least. I'd like to ensure my kid has his phone in case of emergency and maybe bring my battery up a little bit just so I have enough I can be reached in case of an emergency

The Fresno City Council voted 5-1 yesterday to reestablish a $1 million Immigration Legal Defense Fund. The money comes from salary savings on budgeted but unfilled city positions and would provide free legal services to one selected class of residents facing immigration proceedings.
Everyone else pays. No one else gets the same benefit.
Liberty requires equal rules. A government cannot hand special benefits and privileges to one group without taking the property and equal protection of everyone else who has no choice but to fund it. Every dollar has an opportunity cost. Money set aside for one purpose and then switched to another is a bait-and-switch. Feel-good policies still create moral hazard and another pot of public money with too few eyes on it.
There was only one member of the public who spoke in opposition. Their remarks are on the public record. Councilmember Richardson cast the only “no” vote, and the council moved the item to consent which did not permit the council comment on the item. The public speaker argued that if the real concern is due process when government acts badly, make any fund available to any Fresno resident harmed by government or political abuse. Do not limit it to one category of person. This is a relevant concern considering how terrible the Democrat Central Committee has treated their lesser-known candidates on the ballot not keeping a fair endorsement process to those who lacked financial resources for representation, and not publicly denouncing Terance Frazier’s behavior towards Marcos Osorio’s family in the SCCCD D5 Trustee seat race.
Here is the timed link that starts the public comment in the agenda item:
https://www.youtube.com/live/JqxWGZkgHPU?si=U6pWk_JwGAcQsXmK&t=7672
Fresnoland’s article on the vote mentions nothing about the dissenting public comment:
The meeting video is public. The speech is three minutes. If equal treatment under the law still matters more than selective redistribution, it’s worth watching.

Are there any local leather workers that would be able to create and stamp a leather bound journal with a small paragraph of writing? This is for a retirement party (very spur of the moment due to a sudden illness...jist of the journal is bucket list!) for a very valued member of my company out of state. I'll need to take it with me within the month.
One paragraph of writing on the cover, 22 words, 144 characters. No pictures but nice leather appreciated. Good paper as well. This is for a really fine older gentleman so I want it to be great. Doesn't have to be ornate, just good quality and easy to read.

I have an older truck that is due for smog, I took it and it passed everything but failed the evap test. After that I replaced a bunch of lines in the evap system but my smog guy still says it won’t pass. Does anyone know a good smog place that can help me pass or can help me find out what to replace to get it to pass? I don’t have a bunch of money or time to keep spending on repairs. Any recommendations are appreciated
Fresno's top prosecutor demands accountability after discovering a local district attorney allowed her own office to agree to a defendant's return to Texas.
“This is exactly what’s wrong with California,” said an infuriated Smittcamp, who has spent years demanding tougher consequences for violent offenders. “We’ve got district attorneys so terrified of holding criminals accountable that they’re practically helping them pack their bags. Whoever this woman is, she has absolutely no business being a prosecutor.”

Is there anywhere that a Brit can watch Premier League games with other Brit’s?

I can't be the only one thinking this right? The delays, wait times, and constant empty promises that it will get better are infuriating. Numerous times I have called the FAX phone line and the operator tells me a bus driver called out and the busses are running behind because of it. It is ridiculous. I think if more drivers were hired, then things would improve it even just a little bit. What do you think? Would it improve it even just a little bit?

We attend the fair every single year. This year we were able to attend once again and have a great time. 10/10. We watched the Monster Trucks, that's what I call them maybe the aren't officially Monster Trucks. We enjoyed that, and there were lots of families with kids having a great time watching. We even rode on the truck that gives people rides. I was scared! We ate delicious corn dogs, funnel cake and gyro. Thankfully, our food was delicious, especially since it is so expensive. That night they had the Tigres Del Norte concert, IYKYK, which I heard was awesome. We didn't stay to watch them, but I saw posts of people having a great time at the concert. Fresno has lots of fun things to do, and the Big Fresno Fair never disappoints. Did you enjoy the fair?
