First attempt at a segmented pattern (Game Changer on #2 short shank stinger)
Body is minnow belly ice dub and olive dubbing. Haven’t bought any body wrap or game changer chenille.

I guess we will find out if chain eyes are enough…

My take on the pink squirrel
Mostly the same as the OG, but subbing in alpaca for all the dubbing, purple holo tinsel because why not, and dub looped the pink thorax for extra shagginess.
Hook: Firehole 316 size 12
Body: alpaca dubbing blend (grey and fawn)
Rib: Veevus medium holo tinsel, purple
Thorax: alpaca, hot pink, in a dubbing loop
Bead: Fulling Mill tungsten shell pink, 3.2 mm (couldn't get it to photograph as pink for some reason)
Thread: Uni black 8/0

Fly dump
Several patterns from the past few weeks. As we transition into fall I’ve been going up a size or two and getting a little brighter with the colors in preparation for steelhead.
I’ve also been experimenting with sneaking a second bead into a few of the patterns for some extra weight.

What do we think about this? Part of me wants to get a replacement since its $20... but also I could probably bend it back, no?
It might be "weaker" since metal usually is after deforming but idk

WTB - Looking for a Regal Inex fixed stem vise
Hello All, I am looking for a Regal, fixed stem, Inex tying vise for my bench. The current model has the articulating feature and the rotation knob. I would like the fixed 45 degree stem with the rotation knob. C-clamp or base is fine.

Playing around with with my cats toys
Was playing with my cat and realised the worm toys he has might make a good Sandeel imitation for saltwater species so gave it a go. Testing to see if a little foam paddle will give it more action

Rolled Gold - The Rolled Muddler
This is a classic PNW salmon pattern developed by Tom Murray of Union Bay BC in 1974. It was originally a saltwater stickleback imitation, but is used extensively as a small baitfish pattern in both streams and stillwaters throughout the PNW and beyond.
This variation is a bead headed olive/gold version.
-Hook: Tiemco 3671 BL size 10
-Bead: Gold brass 1/8” (3.2 mm)
-Thread: Red Semperfli 8/0
-Tail: Rolled Mallard flank
-Body: Gold Mylar #12 Uni
-Flash: Pearl krystal midge (8 strands)
-Wing: Folded mallard flank
-Overwing: Olive elk or deer
-Head: Spun olive elk or deer clipped
It can be tied in multiple colours to suit local small forage fish such as salmon fry.
I did a tying tutorial if you’re interested in checking it out: https://youtu.be/D7hx9RrATwo?si=8mhLlyUz8LfIVgW2
And here is a link to a blog post by the originator: https://flyfishers.ca/2023/10/rolled-muddler/

Fly tyers, what are your three go-to patterns for largemouth and smallmouth if you couldn’t pack anything else?

Has anybody on here ever used parakeet/budgie feathers before?
My pet parakeets started shedding feathers occasionally so I decided to start collecting them and made this lil fly using one.
