DMing users fundraiser links is still breaking our no fundraiser rules. This is not the sub for this, we do this to prevent scams and bad actors. There are other subs that do allow fundraisers as well as local groups, and we encourage you to post there if you need assistance.
Additionally, be very careful with any user claiming to know of alternatives for medicine in treating insulinoma. This has been popping up a lot lately, and it is extremely dangerous. A lot of these "homemade" remedies will increase the risk of other diseases, as well not keep their sugar levels at an appropriate range. Improper insulinoma management will lead to blood sugar crashes, seizures and even death.
As owners we often wish to do the best we can for them, and it's really easy to fall for a miracle remedy. Be mindful. Be careful.
If you find people breaking these rules, don't hesitate to report or DM the sub to ask.

My ferrets enjoy scampering around and bouncing off the walls, but their absolute favorite pastime is running through the tube. Whether it's racing or playing tug-o-war, they cannot get enough of it. They get extra excited when the tube is freshly tangled in a new knot. Here they are running through the Bosun Lanyard Knot over and over again.

I absolutely despise fleas and they got to my ferret I’m pretty experienced with them but they’re really aggressive this time is there a better way to deal with them other then buying the advantage flea treatment idk if it’s just me but it’s not 100% effective

Hello! So I am the owner of quite a few little ferrets and I've been a ferret parent for years now but I've recently gotten two new ferrets (3M and 2M) from a friend so that's why they are a bit older than pet store ferrets.
I'm used to giving my previous ferrets neck scritches and they've never really had much of a reaction to it so I thought I could just do it with my two newer babies as well but both of them have this reaction every time I scritch their neck.
They basically will push against my hand and try to role onto their backs or lower themselves and rub their tummies on whatever surface they are on. For example, I just did it with the 3 year old one and they pushed against my hand before going onto their tummy and rubbing their tummy and chin on the bed.
I haven't really thought about it much since it's happened but just now I realized that it might be because it hurts him? Does anyone with better knowledge of ferret neck scritches let me know? I don't use a lot of pressure but idk...

my fiance came downstairs to her quietly crying and laying there in the cage, with a big clump of fur next to her. as you can see from the video, there is no bald spot or blood or scabbing or dry skin or anything. it almost looks like new fur is growing there. i have NEVER seen this happen with any of my previous or current ferrets. what the hell caused this??? does she need to see a vet for this? the other two had no fur in their mouths, she was the only one with any in her mouth. it's a very noticeable thinner spot. i'm so beyond confused and concerned
edit: she also is not losing any when gently pulled, nor any on her tail. i'm familiar with adrenal from a previous ferret, she's not exhibiting the symptoms.

Woodland Whimsy Ferret Cage 🍄🌿
When I was setting up my ferrets’ cage, I had such a hard time finding inspiration for decorating and organizing a Ferret Nation, so I figured I’d share mine in case it helps anyone else! I went with a woodland whimsy theme and tried to give each floor its own purpose.
Top floor: Primarily their raw feeding area, although I occasionally add a snuffle mat with freeze-dried raw chicken hearts hidden inside for some enrichment. There are also two hammocks and a leaf sleeping bag.
Middle floor: Their cozy sleeping area! This floor has a big mushroom bed, two hammocks, two hides, and the Marshall’s small animal bear rug that they can tunnel through. Their water is attached to the cage door, so it’s not pictured.
Bottom floor: Their dry food station, two tunnel hammocks, and a carrot bed! I remove their dry food three hours before feeding raw.
I wanted their cage to be functional while still being cute and cozy, with lots of places to sleep, hide, and explore. Hopefully this gives someone a little inspiration for their own setup!
I’d love to see everyone else’s cages, especially if you’ve gone with a theme! 🍄

mine are pretty light sleepers during my waking hours so this is my first time successfully holding an eeping for more than 5 minutes
Side note, I felt her twitching like her paws body and tail and she made breathing sounds I think she was dreaming, is this normal? and SHE STARTED THE TONGUE THING WHILE I WAS TYPING THIS SO CUTE

hi guys! My husband and I recently got two ferrets from someone who was selling them online. We got them on a whim because we saw that they were being kept in a hamster cage. We have since obviously upgraded their cage to a multi story level. We have done as much research as we can, and give them ample amount of playtime and ways to get their energy out. My biggest issue is the smell. I spot clean their litter box every single day. Sometimes even multiple times a day. I dump it out and re-put litter in it at least once a week. Every 2 to 3 days I’m changing their bedding inside their cage. But for some reason, the room that they are in smells absolutely awful, and I don’t know how to help it. please help.

Hi I need advice. 1 out of 3 of my ferrets peed light red substance or blood tonight. My ferrets are 4/5 yrs old, 2 males one female.
For background today was an eventful night for them. They had their first oatmeal bath, they had their first egg yolk, and they had their daily salmon oil. My one male sneezes and sounds very minor mucusy. My vet instructed children’s benedryl and amoxicillin to try to resolve if it was either allergies or respiratory issues, I gave him his meds a few mins after the egg yolk. My female after the bath we noticed had inflamed anus. It was pink/red and looked a little glossy and definitely puffy, I was worried but it resolved 5 mins later and we assumed it could have been straining from trying to escape the tub.
I noticed the blood on their pad shortly after all of this. I ruled out one that was sleeping by my boyfriend for hours. It’s either female with the temporary swollen anus or male who took the meds. Both are acting completely fine. Gums looks good, breathing fine, aware, walking steady, drinking water. The male peed and it was yellow so I’m thinking it’s either the female or he had a temporary color change in his pee.
I would love to take them to an emergency ER but called and literally nowhere specializes in ferret care. They said best bet to get them in with primary vet asap. Can anyone please help me, advice? If this ever happened to you? What my next steps should be? I don’t even know what to do I’m distraught. I have a super busy day tomorrow I will be gone basically all day and no one else will be in my house to monitor them.
My game plan right now is: I set a camera up and I will wake up throughout the night to see if it happens again. If it does emergency vet it is immediately. If it doesn’t I will get an appointment with their vet in the books asap.
Anything helps, thank you!
