Welcome to Fan Fridays!

It's no secret that a big part of Commander/EDH, and Magic the Gathering as a whole, is its community and the content created by its members. But these creators would be nothing without us, the fans. Use this space to share something from this week that you're a big fan of in the EDH/Commander sphere. This could be a video put out by your favorite YouTuber, a link to a custom deckbox you recently purchased from an aspiring artistan, the Instagram of an alterist you recently commissioned, and much more!

Please note that our subreddit does not currently allow images, so if you're trying to show off a recent acquisition, please upload the image to an image-hosting site and then use the link here (i.e., imgur)

Likewise, you may use this thread to ask questions or look for suggestions in finding your own accessories, tools, creators, etc! Example: "Help me find a commander gameplay channel on YT that's not always breaking out into arguments on whether or not mill is against the spirit of the format."

Daily Oh, Wise One Wednesday - What's my Bracket/Power Level? - October 21, 2026

It's Wednesday, my Planeswalkers!

There are only two days left until your weekly FNM. You have a new commander list you've thrown together, and despite what your deckbuilder site is telling you, you're not sure if you've landed solidly into a bracket or specific power level. You don't want to be the next 'Bracket 1 cEDH Magda'. That's where this weekly thread comes in.

Feel free to use this space to share decklists and request a second set of eyes on your deck's bracket/power level. Please avoid asking complex questions that would be better suited for a 'deckhelp' post of its own.

Consider sorting the comments by "new" (instead of "best" or "top") to see the newest posts and answer those that haven't been answered already.

Discussion PSA Voltron Players: Make sure you have protection before you play the big thing.

Just a simple PSA. Voltron is one of my favorite archetypes to play in commander and I’ve even built a few weird versions of it like Voltron Veyran. But if you put all your eggs onto one creature, people are gonna remove that creature. So be prepared.

Just the other day I had a player become insanely salty and spend all of his removal on me for an entire game since I removed his commander twice, saying I completely prevented him from playing the game. His commander was [[Kotis, the Fangbearer]]. If Kotis hits someone for enough damage, especially with a [[Roaming Throne]], in play that’s insane value. So I’ll remove it. And you as Voltron players should be prepared for the same! Keep your commanders under Shroud, Hexproof, Ward, anything you’ve got! It’s the only way to make sure it gets through and beats people bloody.

Discussion What's the point of MBC if it isn't available?

• Upvotes

Mystery Booster Commander edition launched this week but was only sold on the Secret Lair Chaos vault. Its been four years since we last got a draftable commander set and now the only commander set for draft is exclusively available from scalpers until the next Secret Lair drop. You can't say "just proxy them" to do a draft. Yes there's printing capacity limits but I'm really tired of hearing all the excuses and am fatigued from wasting time to have the privilege to give WOTC my money. I don't care enough about the set to pay scalper prices, but knowing it exists and could be printed to demand is incredibly frustrating. I'll still be playing Magic late next year when it could be shipped via print to demand, so why not let me rack up my credit card for that? The ideal solution would be to cut a UB standard set for a commander set every year, but the cynical side of me thinks WOTC would rather give us more Hobbit and Spider-Man.

Discussion Gush About The Deck You've Had The Longest!

If you're entrenched enough in this hobby, you've definitely had the experience of losing interest in a built deck after 3-5 plays (maybe even one if you're unlucky!). Tell me about your favorite deck that isn't like that - one you've had for a long time and that you never get tired of playing. What about it gives it that staying power?

Discussion [Bracket 3] Rhystic Study or The One Ring?

I have a high-power Bracket 3 mono-blue deck (I am him. I swear, my pod needs it), and I have one slot left for a Game Changer. I'm torn between Rhystic Study and The One Ring.

In a vacuum, I think Rhystic Study is the stronger card. It can potentially draw you more cards over the course of the game while also taxing your opponents' resources.

However, in my experience, Bracket 3 games tend to be slower, with players casting fewer spells per turn than they would in higher brackets. Rhystic Study also tends to paint a huge target on your back, sometimes making you the archenemy almost immediately.

The One Ring, on the other hand, feels like it offers more value in this environment. It lets you draw cards while keeping a lower profile, and its protection can help you survive the kind of combat-heavy games that seem more common at lower brackets.

So, while I think Rhystic Study is objectively stronger in a vacuum, I'm wondering if The One Ring is actually the better choice for this particular meta.

What would you guys run, and why?

Deck Showcase You should build an EDH Battle Box for your pod!

EDH is best.

With that said, I’m sure your pod will enjoy a curated Battle Box (link to explain what a battle box is) to switch it up a little!

I deconstructed a couple of my old EDH decks that had some cross synergy and created a Battle Box for a 4 player pod that is ready to play, tons of synergy and hidden commanders.

The box includes 160 cards, with everyone drawing from one shared nonland deck, a shared graveyard (optional) and a separate land pile. Players start with 4 cards, and you choose one land per turn from your own land pile (2 of each color basic).

For my box, the central theme is artifacts and overlapping synergies: ETB effects, flicker, sacrifice, death triggers, recursion, Treasures, artifact creatures and tokens. There’s also plenty of traditional creature combat, interaction, and bigger finishers. Creating your own design constraints balances the box and is a fun deck building puzzle!

My goal isn’t to make every game play the same way or force players into rigid archetypes. I built a self-contained environment where cards have individual value but reward creative combinations, leading to different board states and paths to victory.

Here is my list:

Question What are your strongest B3 decks without a “kill on sight” commander?

• Upvotes

It feels like any strong commander is labeled “kill on sight” and people on the internet will warn you against playing it, lest you have a bad time or something.

While I’ve generally found that strong commanders are strong and running them is fun, usually leading to the powerful commander using its powerful abilities and sometimes even winning the game, I got curious—does anybody have any non-KOS commanders that pilot very strong B3 decks?

Post those lists!

Question What could have been but never was - commanders or archetypes that you tried to make work

Hello, I was reminiscing about my previous decks and commanders.

I will note my examples here:

[[Feldon of the Third Path]] - too step of an investment, missing black or other color, super cool flavor, outclassed by tempo, slow

[[Osgir the Reconstructor]] - my replacement for Feldon, suffering from the same problems he had

Theft decks - way too much keeping note of boardstates for little reward, makes players salty, nightmare with sleeves and online play

Discard - fun only for the owner if lower power level and bracket

Tribal five color - always the same core, with little wiggle room, limited despite being in five colors, changelings provide boost but make already flavourless 5 colors even more flavourless

Group hug - unfair game dynamics, requires good knowledge, if played bad it kingmakes, super unfun to play against and group slug ironically isn't

Eldrazi, slivers, [[Winota]] - super cool on paper, snowballs hard, falls off even harder, removal check

[[Haakon, Stromgald Scourge]] - can't be cast normally, its good as an engine but horrible as a commander

[[Godo, Bandit Warlord]] - linear if not the most linear deck to exist, one counterspell destroys him

What is a commander or archetypes you play or played that fundamentally lacks something crucial (restrictions, reasonable mana value, proper color support, metagame position) or simply forces game patterns that are too linear or plain boring?"

Deck Showcase Fate stay Night themed deck (archer)

• Upvotes

So i had this idea of a deck around firion, cause he abillity is in my opinion almost a perfect representation of emya (archer) of fate, and i love the series. I am currently on this build https://moxfield.com/decks/LMPurPsgEkWtHfxAzTnvTg

I can explain some choices lorewise, Excalibur is obvious but my favorite one is the aetherhub being his noble phantasm.

Powerwise this deck is ok, not trying to be like cedh or even high bracket 4, but he is so fun to play with. And gilgamesh being a better card for deckcommander than him is almost poetic.

Would wanna hear somo tips and suggestions (my to buylist is: reaver cleaver and swordsman steel)

Deck Showcase Bast, Panther Goddess

• Upvotes

https://archidekt.com/decks/27523099/edh_bast_the_panther_goddess

Hello r/EDH community! I’ve come here to share my Bast, Panther Goddess deck! I’m a longtime lurker but had an experience with my play group that inspired me to post! This list is more than likely a bracket 3 deck with out game changers. I could be wrong about that but the responses I got from my friends was a bit to that effect. There is a primer for the deck but the TLDR is you kill with commander damage while going wide with tokens. It is a very resilient deck that put up an impressive performance against my play group. Now do your thing Reddit! Tell me how much my deck sucks and tell me how I could build it better! Also I’m down for any fun card suggestions!

Deck Help Cats can't attack! (Unless they are in a spaceship)

• Upvotes

I have come up with my proudest deck yet. With the new commander coming out Olag and Miau who does damage to each opponent based on tapped cats and zombies I finally found the abzan deck that was calling to me.

The premise is to create a bunch of cats. Throw down some spaceships and make the cats crew them. The best zombie support is in here as well to pump the cats but the primary focus is cats and spaceships.

I haven't added much in the way of interaction yet and still have 26 slots to add whatever I need. Outside of generic interaction are there any key cards the deck is missing?

Deck Help Whats a good alternate commander to put in a K'rikk deck?

https://archidekt.com/decks/16913370

[[K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth]]

I have this Krrik deck with a Final Fantasy Villains subtheme that I like a lot.

I don't have a lot of decks and would like to have a viable 2nd commander in the deck I could swap him from time to time. (it doesn't need to be FF)

The thing is, I run 34 lands very comfortably with that commander, so I'd need someone that could run with that condition.

I saw [[Gonti, Night Minister]] that can make Treasures, maybe something like this?

It would change the game vibe.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Question Who among this five Abzan Commanders could I choose?

I really want to make an Abzan deck cause I tend to play only 2 colors in my decks, the only one I have with 3 colors its my favorite deck Illuna, Apex of Wishes which is a mutate/stomp/voltron deck, the other ones I have are Runo/Krothus copy/reanimate, Gev Ping/Aggro and the new Aerid Konstrari with copy/sac/voltron .

The 5 Commanders that caught my attention were:

  1. [[Nethroi, Apex of Death]]

  2. [[Kathril, Aspect Warper]]

  3. [[Betor, Kin to All]]

  4. [[Vishgraz, the Doomhive]]

  5. [[Felothar, Dawn of the Abzan]]

Among these who do you all recommend?

Deck Help Roxanne, Starfall Savant Deck Not Feeling Impactful

Deck list: https://archidekt.com/decks/26569149/can_we_pretend_that_airplanes_in_the_night_sky

Like the title says, I feel as though the deck has a hard time doing much of anything until around turn 4-5 and doesn't really feel like it can push for a win until turn 10-11. Ideally, it wants to win through big X spells or clone effects on Roxanne or ETB creatures like Etali, Primal Conqueror. Any suggestions to have the deck push for wins/board presence earlier?

Question Is Selvala too strong for bracket 3?

• Upvotes

Hello folks, wondering if it would be alright to build [[selvala, heart of the wild]] as a stronger bracket 3 commander.

Would not include [[staff of domination]] or [[umbral mantle]] combos, and I’d generally just be hoping to ramp into stompy nonsense.

I’ve heard online that she’s too much for bracket 3 and people might refuse to play against the deck.

Thanks everyone!

Question Does anyone have experience with budget leagues in your pod? If so, how did you like it?

My friends and I have all decided to run a budget league of $50 decks to get away from how staple heavy our recent games have been. We also just wanted to get back to that true bracket 2 spirit of a bunch of decks playing suboptimal cards to try and make an optimal strategy.

How has your experience been with running a specific pod of budget decks against each other? I’m actually quite excited for a “meta” to develop within our own meta, especially as more narrow tech is far more playable in a known environment (and a lot cheaper too)!

Question Sultai, which one to reanimate my stuff (Muldrotha, Glarb, Teval)

Hello everyone!

I’m looking to get back into Sultai after playing a bit too much Esper lately, and I’m currently torn between [[Glarb, Calamity’s Augur]], [[Teval, the Balanced Scale]], and [[Muldrotha, the Gravetide]]. I figured I’d ask for your input!

Here are my thoughts on each commander so far:

Muldrotha

  • Pros: Lets me recur a wide variety of permanents without having to rely on dedicated reanimation spells like Reanimate.
  • Cons: Six mana is a pretty steep cost, especially if she gets removed a couple of times.

Glarb

  • Pros: Card advantage in the command zone, and he looks awesome.
  • Cons: Doesn’t really offer any direct payoff for reanimating things.

Teval

  • Pros: Seems to trigger off pretty much everything I want to do, making him a great engine for generating value.
  • Cons: The self-mill makes me a little nervous. I’m worried about milling cards I’d rather keep in my hand or draw naturally.

I’m aiming for a Bracket 3 deck, as that’s what my playgroup plays most often. My main game plan is to reanimate plenty of creatures and other permanents while gradually outvaluing my opponents. Landfall would be a secondary theme that complements the overall strategy rather than being the main focus.

Ideally, I want the deck to feel like a steadily growing engine: generating value turn after turn, building momentum, and eventually overwhelming my opponents with recurring threats and resources. Resilience against removal is also important to me, so I want to be able to recover and keep going even when my opponents try to disrupt my game plan.

I’m not looking to build a dedicated combo deck, though. I’d much rather win through incremental value, recursion, and board presence than rely on assembling a specific combo.

Which of these three commanders would you recommend for this kind of strategy? Does the choice make a significant difference, or could all three support this game plan equally well? I’d especially appreciate hearing about your experiences with these commanders and any potential pitfalls I might be overlooking.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Greetings,
Wontax

Deck Help Ive built Isshin, looking for advice

https://archidekt.com/decks/24461129/isshin_brawler

This is Isshin built upon what I saw on Game Knights, but I had like 20 cards from it, and so I got some, changed some, and this is the result. Im looking to getting someone experienced to see if the deck will work as I intended, a fast aggro deck that will make other players sacrifice their slow buildup or die. Theres alot of heavy control decks in my local meta and honestly Im tired of games taking an hour or more because some ppl have avg mana cost 5 or higher. Ive removed Aggravated Assault coz its expensive as hell, idk how much does this deck need the extra combat. Also since the slow meta I opted for more board protection to stop them from just ramping a single board wipe and be done with me. Whaddya think?

Question Shorikai, how good is he in B3?

[[Shorikai]]

Since i started EDH i very often saw Shorikai being hyped up but every time i read his abilities i fail to see why.

I mostly play casual B3 and with 4 mana, a tap ability i fail to see a turn 7-10 win somehow.

In an average game starting with a mana rock i would get him out on turn 3 and start advancing draw and pilots at turn 4. Doing that every turn kinda puts me at 3 plus cards and 3 pilots at turn 7. How do i win from that point?

My main issue is that there are so many commanders out there from where i see much more value with 4 cmc and even below.

Even as a voltron engine i fail to imagine him going harder than any natural trampler, since you need a card for evasion and double strike + buff to oneshot (which are all not hard in azorius).

And too make it work with untappers is also not a biggie in that colors, but i feel there is too much jank or other expensive cards to even make it work in todays B3 environment.

Dont get me wrong, i think he is really solid, but... Kinda being out powercrept lately?

Edit: I am convinced now that Shorikai is absolutely busted, thank you all!

Deck Help looking for some feedback

Kinda burned out with commander and deckbuilding, none of my decks feel like they work in our pod. This deck is meant to be a bracket 4 version of my favourite precon. Just need some feedback if this is a bit coherent or complete doodoo.

goldfishing leads to a turn 4/5 win attempt or a wiff

remarks/thoughts:

landcount to low? (really low avg manacost and already went from 31 to 33)

not enough draw?

Deck Showcase Carth the Lion got ridicilous with Reality Fracture

I have had Carth the Lion deck ever since his first printing, always loved playing him. He solves the biggest issue for superfriends decks in edh. You get value from walkers dying.

With reality fracture I added 10 new cards: the two garruks, all on colour way enchantments, [vraska's final mercy], overwrite the multiverse, rewrite regrets, arcane amphisbaena and sanctum lurker. The synergy with Jace tokens is through the roof. Empower jace 2 to draw a card and look for a walker in top 7 feels so good. Without a question my favourite deck to play.

Here is the decklist, any suggestions and opinions are welcome! Share your own favourite carth lists please!
