CBS identifies permit holder in mystery Texas mailers; company owner contributed to Trump’s political operation

CBS News Texas reports USPS identified Three Z Printing in Illinois as the company whose bulk-mail permit was used for the mystery transgender-related pamphlets reaching Texas households.

Owner Bill Zerrusen contributed to Trump’s political operation, according to federal records. His son Matt helps lead the company and co-founded the Catholic organization Newman Ministry.

Questions remain about who ordered and paid for the mailers—and how a company with those ties became connected to pamphlets presented as transgender student resources during early voting.

Looking for people who worked on DFW highway construction to meet in person (documentary project)

I’m working on a documentary about humanizing and putting faces to the labor that created useful but mundane parts of our lives. I am on a section about the highways around DFW and the people who built them. I would like to do a very easygoing and personal interview about someone who worked on a highway, who they are and how they feel about their work

I’d love to meet anyone who worked on highway construction here, in any role: laborers, equipment operators, flaggers, inspectors, engineers, surveyors, or retirees.

If you or someone you know (a parent, a neighbor, a coworker) fits, comment or DM me. You don’t need a polished story. I'm looking for the little stuff, like weird job-site moments or what it was like to work on a road you still drive.

Thanks!

DFW HEB - The Colton

Thoughts on that new complex “The Colton” off of Trinity Boulevard? DFW locals, what’s your take on the area where this complex is located?

It’s a beautiful complex, but surrounding area leaves a lot to be desired, it’s an industrial setting, car lots, overgrown grass, just a very weird place to locate a complex like this.

Thoughts?

How many Latinos are voting for Talarico because they think he’s Latino?

• Upvotes

Don’t get me wrong. I hope Talarico beats Paxton and Gina Hinojosa beats Abbott.

But something I’ve been wondering about is how much Talarico’s surname might influence Latino voters who aren’t particularly familiar with him.

Consider the numbers:
In 2024, Trump won approximately 55% of the Latino vote in Texas, compared with Harris’s 45%, according to exit polling.

Now, according to the latest University of Houston polling, Talarico leads Paxton 52% to 41% among likely Latino voters, while Hinojosa leads Abbott 53% to 43%.
And the early-voting numbers are interesting:
Hidalgo County’s turnout during the first four days increased 69% compared with the same period in the 2022 midterms.

Cameron County’s turnout increased 49%.
VoteHub’s analysis, reported by CBS Texas, suggested that the statewide early electorate during the first two days was approximately 8–10 points more Democratic-leaning than at the comparable point in 2024.

Obviously, higher turnout in Hispanic-majority counties doesn’t necessarily mean Latino voters are voting Democratic, and early-voting models aren’t actual election results.

Still, given the polling shift and the turnout we’re seeing, I’m curious how much of Talarico’s appeal comes from his individual campaign, dissatisfaction with Republicans, or other factors.

His surname is Italian, but I could easily see someone assuming he’s Hispanic without knowing anything about his background.

Has anyone actually encountered Latino voters who thought Talarico was Latino?

When I lived in another state I remember a local newstation interviewing a gentlemen who said “ I got to vote for my latino people man”

No, Hinojosa didn't vote 40 times to raise property taxes 🙄

• No Direct Votes: Hinojosa never directly voted to impose a property tax increase, and the Texas state legislature itself does not levy property taxes (property taxes in Texas are set by local governments and school districts).

• Nature of the Votes: The 40 cited votes were procedural or opposing votes against GOP-backed legislation designed to cap local government revenue growth, limit debt-related tax rates, and restrict disaster exemptions.

• Hinojosa’s Position: Hinojosa and her supporters maintain that she voted to preserve local control for cities, counties, and school districts rather than voting to raise taxes. Her campaign also sent cease-and-desist letters to Texas television stations attempting to pull the Abbott attack ad.

These appear to be the only candidates on the voter guides or example ballots without a party affiliation.

The Tarrant County Democratic Party's own voter guide lists one pick per seat:

Place 1: Phyllis Durbin Grissom
Place 2: Ambika Sharma
Place 3: John Adams

Two nights after Rantanen’s hat trick, Hintz delivers another Stars OT win

Tuesday belonged to Mikko Rantanen. Thursday, Roope Hintz scored with two minutes left in regulation and again in overtime to beat Winnipeg 3–2.

Rantanen supplied two assists, Johnston scored his first of the season, and Dallas killed all four Winnipeg power plays. A busy night behind a familiar final score.

We have GOT to take back Texas roads from private corporations. Tolls are supposed to cover the EXPENSE of road construction, not a profit for the operators.

The added expense of $25 late fees per month are abusive to the taxpayers who drive on Texas toll roads.

Thank you Arts Goggle patrons

My wife will be there for the fourth year in a row and I just want to say thank you to everyone who comes out there just to look around. Just being there to observe the art creates such a loving accepting vibe for not just my wife but every artist. She never thought she was good enough to sell her stuff for money and to get love bombed for 12 hours straight really fuels the fire she has inside. She lights up every room she walks into and has brought me out of darkness more times than I know so to see her take a chance on herself and her form of expression be so accepted by this lovely city makes me so proud to be her husband as well as a Fort Worth resident.

Kayleigh Gets Creative is the name of her booth and we’ll be located right by Maggie’s R&R. I can’t wait to see y’all and if you feel so inclined to mention this post to her I would love the husband points. With the perfectly beautiful life she’s given me this is very least I can do. LOVE Y’ALL!
