Discussion ππ―οΈ Weekend trivia is now allowed on weekdays again.
As a moderator, I am doing this because it would make it easier to get rid of low-effort posts, and I feel like that the "weekend trivia" stuff is not needed anymore considering how a lot of the posts on this subreddit consist of low-effort topics unrelated to "weekend trivia," and getting rid of this rule would make it easier to focus on actual low-effort content instead of discussions that actually try to help contribute to this community.

Music πΆπ§ Fun fact: Adeleβs β25β from 2015 was the last album to sell over 22 million physical copies worldwide. No album released since has managed to match that milestone.

Discussion ππ―οΈ The New Jack Swing Era of Music and Fashion: What legacy did it leave behind in popular culture?
galleryHave always been obsessed with this era of black music as a black Latino who isn't from the US. I loved the energy and euforia in the music of the time. Some might see it as corny or too corporate but I loved that sound of the late 80s/early 90s R&B ('87-94).
Also the fashion! it may seem silly now but I love what theyβre wearing. The baggy colorful clothes look was always really fun.Β

Discussion ππ―οΈ Excluding US, Japan and UK, What other country do you think has potential to be the next trendy country in terms of pop culture?
The 60s and early 2010s had the UK as the trendy country and Japan's popularity has been increasing since the 2000s thanks to things like anime and manga. US will always be relevant for obvious reason so no need to discuss. But what other country do you think is becoming big in terms of popular culture? It can be music, fashion, movies, TV programs, etc.

Technology π±π For a period in the mid to late 2000s, there was a fad of toys with USB connectivity (like UB Funkeys and Miuchiz). These were a precursor to toys-to-life games

Decade Analysis π The variety of the late 90s music scene
galleryThe late 90s (97-99) had such a variety of genres, styles, and innovative artists.
Feel like it gets over shadowed by grunge of the early 90s but this period had such an influence on modern music.
Which were your favorite artists from that era?

Discussion ππ―οΈ Do you think 1993 would be more like 2004 or 1982 if not for 9/11?
In terms of culture, fashion, music styles, technology, how humans interacted. Here let's imagine 9/11 had not happed yet in 2004 and 2004 was pre 9/11 .

Music πΆπ§ Many decadeologists believe the "Long 50s" was immediately over after JFK's assassination, but I think aspects of 1965-1966 also fit that vibe (pre-hippie). Such as this song.

Discussion ππ―οΈ What were Sports like when you were 11/12 years old?
for me it was 2015 and 2016 so you had the NBA with The golden state warriors and Currymania taking over, OKC thunder with KD and Westbrook, Houston with Harden and Dwight howard,
portland was start to make noise with Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, you had the lob city clippers, the Grit and grind grizzlies, the Cavs with lebron, kyrie, and Kevin Love,
Miami with Wade and bosh post leBron And heatles, Kobeβs last nba game, the all time great dunk contest with Zack levine and Aaron Gordon, plus the Cavs making the epic comeback in the finals
The NFl with the manning brothers, Brady, Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot, Odell Beckham JR, Aaron Rogers, Drew Breeβs, JJ Watt, Adrian Peterson, Cam Newton, Russel Wilson, Marshawn Lynch.
The UFC was red hot at the time with Connor McGregor, Ronda Rousey, Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier.
the MLB with the Cubs winning the World Series.
honestly a pretty cool time period for sports In my opinion.
