I wenr to the vet last week because my 12 y.o. doxie has had 2 accidents in the house and I was concerned it was a UTI. My new vet said it might be Cushings because the urine test was dilute and couldn't pick up any bacteria. She has been drinking more water than before and she has always been on the hunt for food which the vet said are symptoms. We will do the test tomorrow to see if its Cushings but I'm really worried becuase I had a dog before that had it and it was awful and I ultimately had to put down. Anyone have experience with this and how did it go?

More than 2,500 dachshunds. To me, the long-haired dachshund is the most beautiful!

My dachshund is experiencing some pain, i wanted to ask opinions before taking him to the vet.
Taco is 12 years old, i wasn’t with him when it started, but since yesterday his stomach feels very hard. He shakes when you go to touch him, and cries when picked up. He pooped this afternoon but hasn’t eaten anything.
He walks around a bit and asks to be pet but nothing much other than just sitting down. I just took him out and he walked a little bit sat for a long time and walked back inside.
Im not so sure what it is, around 1-2 years ago he was taken to the vet for something similar and it ended up being nothing (just 3k vet bill), but this time he is more restless he wont lay down.
What do you guys think?

Just some of my favourite photos from our trip to the local park the other day lol.
It's very hard to get photos of these two together as the girls are always running around, so I was very happy to get these! Even if some of them are a bit goofy🤣

Hi! We brought our little Miniature Dachshund puppy home three days ago. He’s only 9 weeks old, and he’s such a sweet, affectionate little boy. ❤️
Potty training is actually going really well! He still has the occasional accident indoors, but when we take him outside, he almost always pees and sometimes poops too.
At night, the first night he eventually settled in his crate, although he whined on and off. The second night, however, he just wouldn’t settle no matter what we tried, so we left the crate door open. He wandered around the bedroom from time to time, but then he would calm down, go back into his open crate and fall asleep. He didn’t cry at all, and we actually managed to sleep really well!
Our biggest challenge is that he absolutely panics when we leave him alone in his playpen. As soon as he sees us walking away, he cries, barks and scratches at the pen. He can’t even manage a minute or two. We don’t know how to approach this or how to teach him that being alone is okay.
He follows me everywhere, constantly. I understand that I’m probably his main source of security right now, as he’s only just left his mum and littermates, but we don’t know how to gradually move from this constant need to be close to me towards being able to spend a little time alone in his playpen or another room.
We’re also unsure about the best setup. Should we keep the playpen in the living room with his crate inside it, or would it be better to set up a larger, puppy-proofed room with his crate, toys and water, where he could have more space and perhaps feel less confined when we need to leave him for a little while?
What would you recommend at this stage? Should we keep practising with the playpen, even if he cries as soon as we walk away, or start by giving him more freedom in a safe room? How can we teach him to feel comfortable on his own without making his separation distress worse?
We want to do things right from the beginning, but we’re feeling a little overwhelmed and would really appreciate some advice from people who have been through this. Thank you!

This is on my doxie’s back leg. He will not leave it alone. He keeps knotting up the hair on his leg from messing with it. I cut a knot of hair off earlier today & he already had another huge knot made when I was later telling him to leave it alone. He rakes hydroxizine for allergies so it must really be bothering him for him to be messing with it so bad. I asked a couple people I know and they said it’s not a tick. I guess the vet will cut it off? Anyone know?
