New Purchase Not fully regretting hybrid sport but…

Post image
137 Upvotes

Hey all, just got this brand new 2026 civic sport hybrid a few weeks ago. Overall, I am LOVING the car! Looks amazing, and coming off a 2003 Corolla it feels very new and fancy and I am very thankful and grateful for what I have purchased.

Now, this was my first time buying new, and I didn’t really know the touring trim existed and what it came with until I had signed everything. They never tried to upsell me at the dealership, I’m kinda blown away loll!

So now the only thing I’m regretting is knowing there is a way better sound system that exists out there. I could go without the leather seats and whatnot (I actually like my rims much better) but the music listener in me is slightly crying.

I’m trying not to think about it too much but it’s like a little itch in the back of my mind. With that being said, does anyone have recommendations on ways to improve the sound system on the standard sport trim? New speakers? Can you put a sub/amp in a hybrid?

Would love to hear people’s thoughts on the audio who have heard both.

Advice Request Never bought a new car before, need advice

Hey all, my current vehicle, a 2014 Ford Fusion SE, is starting to get up there in mileage (162k, and current commute is 20k~ miles a year) and I’ve been eyeing the Honda Civic Hatchbacks for a while now as my replacement option since I know I’ll want to upgrade sooner rather than later.

However, I have never had the luxury of buying a new car outright before. I come from a low-income family and even when I financed my current vehicle starting in 2019 (paid off last year, 6 year finance) it wasn’t new off the lot. Everything I’ve done research-wise for the Civic Hatchbacks I’m looking at says that it’s best to just buy new at this point instead of used because the price difference isn’t large enough since people are keeping their used ones, and the upsides in the long run such as having dealer warranties make buying new a better choice.

My question to you all, I suppose, is if there is a specific time of year I should be waiting until to purchase? I’m open to both a ‘26 or a ‘27 model, and I’m not in a rush to buy, although I’d like to purchase it in the next 6~ months if possible. I know there are occasional holiday deals and apparently dealers trying to sell the previous year models around the time of year. Also, is it worth it to trade in my used Ford at a dealership instead of trying to sell it on my own? I’ve never owned a vehicle to trade in before so I’m pretty new to that process.

Any additional tips or advice on what to look for would be EXTREMELY helpful - thank you!!

Purchase Advice Civic sport hybrids, recent prices?

Anyone getting dealer discounts on the new 2026 Civic Sport Hybrid (non-Touring)? If so, how much off MSRP did you get?

I'm trying to decide between the Sport Hybrid and regular gas Sport. A few dealers I've talked to are offering around $1,000 off the gas model, bringing selling price to about $26,000 before taxes and fees but so far none are willing to discount the hybrid.

Located in California

Curious what everyone else is paying?

hi everyone, i bought my civic sport last month and everything has been great but unfortunately something scratched the hood of my car 🥲

(pls ignore the dust.. i left it sitting for a day and it got dirty)

anyways, i knew purchasing a black car would lead to me noticing every little scratch but i wanted to ask what’s the best route to go to remove these little scratches? i’ve already noticed 3 of them in 3 different spots and they’re all smooth scratches. any advice is greatly appreciated, thanks! 🫶🏻

Advice Request Passenger dash trim popped out?

2019 Hatchback

Noticed today that my passenger side dash trim is slightly popped out, no clue when or how this would’ve happened. I can pop it in, but I’m more concerned with the thumb wheel for adjusting the air flow, it’s strangely pushed to the left and rubbing against the inside of the cutout, making it harder to spin. What do you guys make of this?

Advice Request OTD price of Boost Blue 2026 Civic Sport Touring Hybrid Hatchback? Bay Area/NorCal

Hey everyone, long time lurker here haha. I’m looking to buy my first car and after a lot of research I settled on the civic. Specifically the type on the title of the post. I went to Capitol Honda and they quoted me a price of $39846 OTD. I figured it was too high and tried to negotiate lower but they wouldn’t budge so I walked out. I figured they’d call me after to negotiate again but come to find out the only one they had was bought the day after my visit 😭 So now I have to wait which I don’t mind.

I have a couple questions though, is stock limited for this exact trim? I asked around and a lot of dealerships in the area either have only 1 available or they’re waiting for a delivery. I asked Milpitas Honda and apparently boost blue in that trim is “extremely rare” and it’s “hard to get a discount for that rare color.” Is this true at all?

I’m wondering if there are any boost blue 2026 civic STH hatchback owners here from the Bay Area that can provide their OTD price and also which dealership they went to. I’m going to Fremont Honda later today so I’m wondering what number I should negotiate to.

Appreciate any help!

Jolts when switching from gas to ev mode?

• Upvotes

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem before I text the service advisor. New 26 ST hybrid, I’ve had it for about 2 ish months, no problems but twice today when switching from gas to ev mode when in park, it kinda like jolts not hard where it moves the car but a like 2-3 time duh duh duh. Never happened before. I do need gas (80mi to e) but I’ve ran it this low before and it never happened. Battery is half charged. 4k miles 70% oil life.

VSA System Malfunction

Recently rebuilt a 2017 Civic Si that had been in an accident with airbag deployment and needed an SRS module reset. I got the module back and was able to clear all SRS codes but now have a U0416-68 code for VSA malfunction alongside U3000-54 and C0051-54 code. One of those is for a steering neutral relearn and the other, a VSA calibration issue. All of these codes seem to have something to do with a bad VSA system, but driving the car hasn’t done anything like I’ve seen reported. I have a TopDon AD900lite scanner capable of doing the “All Sensor” reset to clear the VSA but it will not complete the test without saying “Wrong Condition”. I have the ignition on, wheel straight, foot off brake…all of the things to perform the test and it will not work. Do I invest in Hondas I HDS software and try that? Get a different scanner? Am I missing something really simple? I am stumped! Any help is greatly appreciated.

What new civic should I get?

I grew up in a 99 civic with my dad which has had 9 owners. My cousin currently has it and the thing still goes on the highway without a problem! I'm 20 and in uni full time but I can't drive due to going blind. I will be buying a car for others to drive for me (such as my fiance, backup for family, etc). My fiance has a gas guzzler that only gets 18mpg and it is almost 10 years old. Currently there are 3 of us in the house and only 1 car. At the beginning of the semester the car had to be fixed for a whopping 8k and still has issues. We really need a reliable backup car with good mileage since we drive a lot and travel often.

The issue is that I've seen a lot of recalls on some of the models so I'm not sure which one to get. I like hybrids since they are more efficient BUT I can't really work on them with my dad or brother if they need to be repaired, we would have to go to a dealership and pay out the ass for that. The gas model is easier to fix but costs more for gas and is less efficient. Then again, the civic is already efficient in the gas model so will it really make a difference?

I'm not sure if I want a new or used model currently. I'd like the cheapest one that has the best features to make it last and pay for itself overtime. My fiance sucks at parking (which I can do perfectly, even with being half blind in one eye with zero depth perception or peripheral vision) so we must have cameras and many sensors or else he will be on the curb. He has had his current car for 3+ years and still can't park or drive without hitting curbs.

Anyone have any recent OTD on a civic hybrid sport (not touring) (GA)

Hey guys. Ive messaged a few dealers but the best I’ve gotten is $33,000OTD with taxes for a blue civic hybrid. Also seems everyone is pushing $600 honda packages under different names for the nitrogen filled wheels, wheel locks (which I don’t want), mud guards, and a trunk tray. Anyone recently got a better OTD deal in Georgia?

Civic viii i shift

Hey! I just bought a civic i shift with 195k km from 2006. I love the car, but i feel like the transmission is a little bit jerky, especially in lower gears, like the 1.st gear. The previous owner told me i should get a oil change on the transmission before i bought it, so i was aware that the transmission could use an oil change. I was wondering what you guys think? I read a lot about some ecu upgrade. Also is a flush on the transmission safe on the i shift? The Honda dealership told me i should do that, but i personally read a lot about that it is not so good for the i shift

Oil Change minder at 3k, 2 months since last oil change.

Got my last oil change at the dealer and my light just went on for 15% last night. I remember it hasn’t been that long and after looking for my last receipt I saw that it’s only been 3300 miles and about 2 months since then. I feel like it’s too soon.

Model is 2019 Honda Civic Sport
