âItâs the circle of life.â
âItâs just one bird out of billions.â
âTheyâre just being cats.â
ââTheyâre predators. Itâs what they do.â
I can curate a whole fucking list atp. Theyâre literally the epitome of âDoes Polly want a cracker?â Iâve heard the same tired, recycled excuses and phrases a thousand times. I genuinely donât care.
These cat nutters will literally pull any excuse out of their ass to justify catsâ behavior and everything they do. Anything to avoid being held accountable and taking responsibility for the damage their cats cause. Apparently, both become optional when the animal in question is a cat.
Cat nutters act like cats have some God-given place in every ecosystem's food chain, as though being a predator automatically entitles them to terrorize and destroy wildlife wherever they please.
Well, sorry, but times have changed. Maybe cats had a place in the food chain 10,000+ YEARS AGO, but weâre talking about their WILD ANCESTORS, not the domestic house cats people keep as pets today. đ€Š
So, bottom line, domestic cats arenât wild animals, theyâre invasive and have no place and serve no role in the ecosystem.
âBut still cats need freedom and theyâre predators, they need to hunt!â đ„ș
Then do your fucking job as their owner and provide them with appropriate enrichment instead of expecting the local wildlife AND your neighborsâ peace to pay the price for your negligence and laziness.
Why are we acting like natural instincts are something exclusive or unique to cats and cats only?
Literally every pet has natural instincts, but somehow, catsâ instincts are treated as more special and deserving of endless excuses and special treatment. Cat owners should be held to the same expectations and standards of responsible pet ownership and accountability as everyone else instead of getting a free pass to excuse their catsâ behavior under the guise of ânatural instincts.â Donât get mad or offended when someone else finally takes matters into their own hands and does what you shouldâve done as a responsible pet owner.
Also, wolves, coyotes, and other animals are often euthanized, killed, or culled for attacking livestock or other animals, even including cats. Yet when cats go on these killing sprees and repeatedly kill and torment birds and other wildlife, suddenly itâs all âtheyâre just following their natural instincts.â
Your orange tabby cat does not need to be outside âhunting for its next mealâwhen it literally has a full bowl of Fancy Feast at home. Be so fucking serious right now.
Am I supposed to be jumping for joy that your cats are making my yard filthy and terrorizing and killing the birds at my feeders?!
Like, hooray! A fat-ass, ugly, overfed cat is camp farming my bird feeders!
Apparently, Iâm supposed to find it adorable rather than irritating and disgusting that someone elseâs annoying cat is turning my yard into its personal hunting ground and litter box.
Also, if you choose to feed stray cats, you donât get to conveniently wash your hands of all responsibility by claiming, âOh, theyâre not my cats. Iâm just feeding them.â Whatâs the difference?
You donât get to encourage them to loiter while pretending you have absolutely no responsibility for the consequences. You cannot have it both ways. If youâre going to take it upon yourself to feed the stray cats, then take immediate responsibility of the situation instead of leaving everyone else to deal with the consequences.
Some of yâall are taking the whole fictional concept of Warrior Cats way too literally. Your house cat is not going to be the next Fireheart, but it might be the next face on a missing cat poster.
