Question URGENT help

Hi everyone, as of 30 minutes ago, my agency’s assignment was terminated. I can get into the details if interested but that’s not why i’m here.

I need your guys’ help to find another job as soon as possible as i am here on my own, no family or anywhere else to go. I need the job start date as soon as possible as bills and rent need paying. Preferably with weekly pay. If not bills and rent can be sorted out, no problem with some favours to ask.

Please please please, send anything you have my way. I am a software engineer, have plenty of experience in customer service roles such as barista, sandwich artist, call handler etc. also worked in warehouses before, ASSA ABLOY security systems installer and also have EXTENSIVE IT skills when it comes to hardware and software troubleshooting. ANYTHING will do, this is a cry for help. Thank you

EDIT: male 27, from Cyprus, living in Smethwick area.

Question does brum have a queer scene?

i’ve lived in birmingham all my life but haven’t noticed any particular events or queer areas beyond pride and the gay village which seems to be all bars. i don’t do well in the bars because as a pakistani girl i don’t really blend in and i often feel left out

i feel like a lot of brummies are just very homophobic (likely the people i’m surrounded by) and it really upsets me. i just really feel like i’m lacking community and would love to meet people. i’m thinking coffee morning/book club kind of vibes but queer based because i’m a lesbian. any suggestions would be appreciated!

Question Recs requested

Hey Brummies, looking for a place to host a small group of people to have a casual stitch & bitch in city centre area on a Saturday afternoon - ideally somewhere close to a transit stop and not terribly loud so we don’t have to shout instructions down the table and where we can sit for a few hours and have food and drinks. Disclaimer, this is not a public event, just some folks trying to do a low-key activity. Thanks!

Question Any advice on stretching out socially in Brum?

I’m a yank who’s lived up north for several years - relocated to this lovely place not long ago. I’m simply enamored, especially after reading the city’s history in your museum downtown.

Outside of the MeetUp app, any ideas on how to find special interest groups, casual get togethers, and cultural goings on?

Bonus points if you can point towards any communities with other Americans too. We have Thanksgiving coming up in late November, and I’m so home sick.

Love what y’all have done with the place! <3

Panorama on ‘Supported’ Housing in Brum TONIGHT

The supported exempt accommodation sector is rampant with fraud, exploitation and profiteering.

20% of the country’s most vulnerable tenants are in Birmingham.

We are the epicentre of this crisis - and neighbourhoods like Winson Green, Handsworth and Erdington are at the centre of this crisis.

Tonight, Panorama on BBC1 at 8pm exposes the scale of the sector in our city.

Me and my colleague Cllr Bernasconi have been speaking up about this for years. Now, we’re happy it’s getting national coverage.

Question Volunteering - where to get involved?

I want to start volunteering. I care about many different areas deeply so I would want to get involved wherever possible, and because I am open to most organisations, I was wondering if anyone knows any specific charities that are in need of more support?

I can focus my attention to applying there as a priority. Thanks in advance!

Question Halloween night out

Can anybody recommend somewhere up town for twi 19 year olds, 1 boy and 1 girl. We will get to town about 12/1am and will be dressed up so need somewhere that will also have people dresses up. Ive looked as dead wax and that seems to be our sort of vibe with more of a pub feel and our music type but recommendations or advice is helpful for two people that don’t go out often. When we do go its usually head of steam, old joint stock or snobs 😂

Question Any orchards/farms near Birmingham where I can get cider Apples?

I recently got into cider making. Turns out I'm actually pretty good at it and I've started scaling up production to 30 litres a batch. Now I need a supply of apples to match.

I live in Oldbury close to Birmingham and I'm looking for local orchards or farms within reasonable driving distance that will sell cider apples by the box.

Fortunately I love a good old fashioned scrumpy so I'm not fussed about what specific apples I can get. Just the idea of making fresh cider from local apples is super appealing and I want to get my hands on some!

I've not had much luck browsing online. But then I imagine these types of businesses rely on local custom.

If anyone has any leads that would be super helpful!

Bonfires without fireworks?

Might be a longshot and/or a silly question, but does anyone know of any bonfire night events that just have the bonfire without the fireworks?

Commuting via New Street

For least stressful/busy travelling and avoiding delays. If you had to work in Broad Street for 7hrs per day during office hours-ish and travelling into Brum by train via New Street - which hours would you choose?
Is it better to get in early and work 8-3 or wait and do 10-5?
Thanks for any tips
