That past four years, I’ve been up Matt Gaetz’s ass. Here's where it stands this week.

A few years back, in December of '24, the House Ethics Committee reported that Matt Gaetz engaged in statutory rape with a 17-year-old who'd just finished her junior year. Along the way, Matty used illegal drugs and obstructed the investigation, and his wingman, former Seminole County tax collector Joel Greenberg, pleaded guilty to child sex trafficking. Joel got eleven years.

Being Florida and all, this past July the state House Speaker gave Gaetz a seat on the board of the nonprofit Triumph Gulf Coast, which controls $1.5 billion in BP oil spill money. His father sat on it. Now Junior's vice chair.

Nepo baby!

Imagine the Indeed job listing. Wanted: well-connected board member to help manage ten digits of public money. Must work well with high school students. Sex traffickers preferred.

Oh, and this week Matty found himself in federal court, having to deal with a sugar-daddy trafficking suit.

What's next: Being the consummate data nerd, I fired off two requests for his appointment file and intake questionnaire. Let's see what rabbit hole opens up.

Same play as always. Find where the rule and the practice don't match, apply the rule straight, make them answer in writing. You've watched me do it to people a lot closer to home.

Story and NSFW artwork over on Substack.

North Springs Improvement District is peak bureaucratic incompetence: $22.4M in revenue, state-of-the-art smart meters that detect leaks in real-time, yet they hide the data from residents to profit off massive leak bills.

• Upvotes

If you live in the North Springs Improvement District zone of Coral Springs or Parkland, you need to see how this utility operates. It is either pure incompetence or outright corruption.
I recently had an undetected water leak run for months. I got hit with two months of huge bills and late fees. When I called NSID, the rep looked at their computer and casually confirmed they could see the continuous leak flow data on their end the whole time.
They never called, emailed, or sent a text when their system flagged a 24/7 leak (it takes a 5 line script to do this). They only tell you after you get a massive bill and call them to ask what happened. And when you ask for a leak adjustment or late fee waiver, they flatly refuse and this happened to me twice.
I popped open my meter box to see what hardware we are paying for….We have state-of-the-art Badger Meter Model 25s hooked up to Smart Earth (SET100) cellular endpoints. Badger literally makes the eyeonwater app, which gives homeowners free real-time usage tracking and instant leak alerts. NSID refuses to turn it on for us. They lock down the encrypted data for themselves and leave us blind so we rack up huge leak bills.
Want to set up ACH autopay to avoid late fees? You can't just type in your routing and account number like a normal website. NSID forces you to upload a photo of a physical paper check. If you don't use paper checks in 2026, you are forced to pay by credit card with a $3.25 convenience fee..

NSID pulls in $18.8M from utility bills + $3.6M slapped directly onto our property taxes just to manage 15,000 meters. They have 60 employees with $ 5 million payroll** **(averaging $80k/yr). District Manager Rod Colon makes $150k + and top staff make $100-120k, rivaling the base pay of utility directors at massive county districts managing hundreds of millions in infrastructure.
With $22.4M a year and 60 staff for a tiny district, they can't turn on EyeOnWater, send an automated leak email, build a modern ACH page, or offer a basic leak adjustment like neighboring cities do.

Question for the smart home / tech folks here: Since NSID locks us out of EyeOnWater and the 2AFJSSET100-2015 transmitter is encrypted, has anyone in NSID managed to pull their water meter data into Home Assistant?

Is This Legal? (Hollywood/Dania Beach, Context in Post)

Hey folks.

I am a wheelchair user and this was taken by Tiki Tiki. Basically, there is only one ADA parking spot that they have behind a paywalled mandatory valet. I was under the assumption that ADA parking laws allow for disabled folks to park themselves. Here, they do not allow you to park yourself even if you pay (I think it was like $5?). If this isn’t legal, who would I bring this issue up to? I didn’t stop in to eat today but, I would probably talk to the staff first, right? TYIA :)

I no longer trust Tires Plus

So last weekend the transmission in my car stopped transitioning. I took it to my usual mechanic — the dude at Tires Plus— and he said it was the shift control cable, and quoted $3600 to fix it. Of that, $1600 was the part, the rest labor.

I work for Southwest Toyota, so I got the part at cost ($211). My buddy said he’d put it in for me , but said we probably wouldn’t need the part. So today we dug in, and the cable was disconnected from the doohickey. The part to reconnect it ? A $15 flange. Labor? 2 hours, including the trip to the auto parts store, and dicking around trying to find the parts we dropped.

The garage quoted $3600 and I almost said go for it. Wtf?

BSO donor told deputies on body cam that he and ~20 others paid for a Sheriff's helicopter. The County already paid $15M. I filed with FDLE.

The Gang Buys a Helicopter

A Tony donor told deputies he and his pals paid for a BSO chopper. I took it to FDLE. You don’t get to read the complaint. Yet. Sorry, not sorry.

Yesterday, WPLG dropped a bomb ... BSO body-cam footage from a September 2025 false-alarm call at Jeff Lefcourt's classic-car collection.

Expressing his god-given right to not remain silent, Lefcourt told the coppers:

What chopper, you ask? Also, did one of the deputies let known the body cam video?

No, not the Magnum PI bird ... rather Bogen & Co. allocated $15mil for a replacement.

Rooting around, WPLG found no public record of any private money. Unnamed sources say it never happened.

Which leads us to He Said, He Said.

So, as I am wont to do, off goes a complaint to FDLE's Office of Executive Investigations, asking three four questions:

Sorry fans, but I've changed the method. Instead of posting the complaint, I'm offering it to the media first, provided they credit the work with a working link to one of my digital properties.

Even us atheists have to appease the Gods of SEO.

Any local businesses need a web design refresh?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been doing web design for a while and have some free time right now, so I thought I’d help a few local businesses give their websites a fresh look.

If you own a business and feel like your website could use a little update, message me the link! I’ll check it out and put together some free redesign ideas for a few businesses.

I’m open to different types of businesses and would love to see what I can come up with.

Sheriff Tony’s "Ph.D." just bought him a state ethics hearing in Tallahassee.

Hey r/broward, Chaz Stevens here.

Many of you just watched Sheriff Gregory Tony take Channel 10 on a training-center victory-lap tour. Only thing we didn’t get to see? The Tony-branded bidets!

Press alert: I'll be having my own dog-y-pony presser next week, I'll drop you an invite.

Here’s a tidbit to enjoy this AM. What wasn’t mentioned: right about the same time the Tony Tour got rolling, my cell was blowing up. On the other end? The Florida Commission on Ethics. Seems my complaints, filed in the spring, are officially headed to a probable cause hearing in Tallahassee this Nov/Dec.

Sure, we can laugh over branded urinal-cakes … I mean, who doesn't want to pee all over his NIL (amirite Holly!), but it’s the likely misuse of databases that’s going for a hearing.

When Tony wrote (pun!) his dissertation, he tapped into five internal BSO systems, with heavy lifting from a "study team" of BSO subordinates—on our tax dime—to build it out. Yep, your tax dollars helped Tony crib on his test.

As for the ethics complaints, most die at staff review. Mine don’t usually. Why? Cause I'm fucking good. In this case, an investigator ran it down, the Advocate made a recommendation, and now it's going to a closed-door executive session.

As the complainant (little bitcher), I'm allowed in that room, and I plan to be there with my attorney to act as an independent witness for the taxpayers. Complaining about $552,000 gym change-orders and a $3,000 custom leather holster is one thing, but abusing secure databases for a private degree is another level.

Wait, what? A $3,000 leather holster?

Click the link below and we’ll get you up to speed on that, break down the two counts of the complaint, explain what the hearing actually means, and drop a few other goodies.

Read the full breakdown on my Substack here (no paywall).

How much do you pay for lawn service?

And how big is your lot? Is it paid monthly or per service? Does it vary for the season?

I’m about to move to a regular house in eastern pines. But I’m considering asking my landlord about me doing it myself for a break on the rent. Lawn care is included with the rent.

I already have my own push mower and weed whacker.

I cut my yard now. I’ve never had to pay someone.

Just want to know if my landlord will be coming out ahead or not if I do it myself. I don’t want them to lowball me.

Best Halloween trick or treating 🎃

Hello all! I am looking for the best neighborhood(s) to take my 7yr old to go trick or treating this year?
Ideally west end of Broward (Davie, Sunrise, Weston, plantation, Coral Springs) but also, if it’s a really good location willing to drive outside of my area.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Movie club?

Hey, everyone, I've moved to Fort Lauderdale about a year ago now, 24M, and I've been in love with movies all my life. I love talking about and discussing them, good or (especially) bad. I know i can't be the only one, and wanted to know if anyone would like to start a movie club or something of the sort, where we can watch the latest outing in theatres or discuss some of the old ones. I just really like to talk about movies, and would love some other perspectives!

Sheriff "Fish Tale" Tony says the gym's FBI-protected. His own directive says it's open 24/7. Fuck that, amirite, the Tale locked the mayor out of it anyway.

This morning, Mayor Mark "Lord of the Lobby" Bogen and two fellow landlords got shooed away at the Sheriff's Office lobby. Only a couple of hours later, the Sheriff of Instagram's at a podium saying the whole compound is "protected by the FBI, FDLE and multiple CJIS standards"... undercover officers in the hallway, the works.

Oh really?

If a building's CJIS, it's locked down. Like, locked down. Fingerprints, escorts, visitor logs, no fooling around. Serious shit. Except BSO's own 2021 directive says the gym's open twenty-four hours to employees and their families. So picture a certain someone's wife badging into the squat rack at nine a.m. and skipping to the front of the cold plunge line while an undercover fed waits his turn.

See, about six months ago, I asked BSO for the records... the access lists, the logs, the audits... to figure out what the actual fuck is going on in there. I got two documents and a "fuck right off," free of charge.

Sha, right.

So off went a complaint to FDLE, the folks who enforce the FBI's security rules in Florida. Simple question: is that building open to the limited public, or is it locked down? Pick one.

Thanks to a sheriff with zero ability to keep his mouth shut, he picked for them. On camera. Locked down, fuck Bogen, and did you see my latest video?

Update to the FDLE complaint went out earlier today.

Full piece, with the records, and a knock knock joke, here.

---

The CJIS policy runs about 300 pages... dense, nerdy, very specific. I expect the Reddit experts to arrive shortly, long familiar with PE-2 reqs.

Sheriff Tony said he wouldn't discuss the state investigation of the Commission. It lasted four days.

For those just tuning in:

On Monday, Tony takes his ball and goes home, suspending budget talks with the County, citing ongoing probe

End of the week, Bogen, Udine and Fisher announce an audit of BSO's $850M+ budget.

Today, Tony's on Facebook, calling out the Commission, who are being "shamed, embarrassed, and now criminally investigated,"

People are dying he said, from his office chair. He names no one.

Walter Dix, union VP said at-will Fire Rescue employees were "directed" to sign a letter, and union officers were put under internal affairs.

Who needs an NDA, amirite?

It feels like there’s a lot more people here than ever before

I’ve lived in Miami/ Broward my whole life and recently moved to Weston. I’ve had the same experience everywhere , there’s so many people at all hours of the day now. I go to the gym at a random time - before 5 pm - and it’s full, try again the next day , full again. It’s 1:30pm on a Thursday at a random shopping center - every single parking space is taken up. I’m a student that works weekends part time and every time I go out I see so many people(to be more specific white NO HATE IM JUST BEING HONEST ) outside at random hours of the day. Same thing in Hialeah, Miami lakes, Pembroke. It feels overwhelming?? And a bit frustrating. Everything feels so cramped and tight . Long lines, lots of people, more traffic, more rude stares. What is happening !?

Just a Tax Rant

Post image
1 Upvotes

When the sales tax is 7% and the item purchased is a flat $5... Why is the tax more than it's supposed to be? Who is pocketing that money? What's the state doing about it?

Went to my local Taco Hell for a late snack and asked the person at the window why the tax isn't 35¢ when it's 7% tax on $5. Was told it was just 37¢ but he'd give me the receipt so I could do the math myself... Sir, I did do the math myself and that's why I'm bringing it up.

It's not crushing my budget but it is still a form of theft. And then I'm not getting my change back correctly cause there aren't any pennies any more. So in effect I paid 8%...WTFreak

(Broward county previously voted in an extra 1% to the 6% Florida site tax, thus the 7%)
