Whether you're trying to make sense of Sanderson's works for the first time, feel you missed a memo on something, or want a bit of community assistance, this is the place for you.
We ask that folks label and spoiler tag anything relating to book content, and be extra mindful of the welcoming part of Rule 1. If you're not sure how to tag spoilers, see this post. And while you're welcome to ask "basic" questions here, you may find an answer in our FAQ.

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a disappointing spot with my WoT leatherbound order and wanted to see if anyone had advice or if a Customer Service lead might be able to help me.
Earlier this year in March, when I received my WoT leatherbound, I placed a support ticket due to it being noticeably not in great condition with glue stains, creasing, and lifting leather on the spine of the book. I was told to hold tight and that responses would come and to monitor my support ticket. No updates were provided on my ticket.
I had been regularly checking in for updates but after multiple months slowly lost steam and slowed down on my check ins. So, I missed the email about the exchange process in August... When I thought to check in this week for updates on the leatherbound, I found that I had missed the exchange window. I was told that If I opened my ticket and started the process, I would be taken care of. Now customer service is denying an exchange.
It feels pretty rough to be stuck with a poor-quality copy of the book, even when I reported my issue right away.
Has anyone dealt with a similar situation with Dragonsteel support? Is there a good way to get this escalated past the frontline customer service agents? or am I out of luck?
Pics of support ticket and my attached photos from March.
UPDATE: Wohoo! Dragonsteel is going to exchange my book. I received the following response:
"We wanted to reach out to you regarding your return request forĀ The Eye of the WorldĀ leatherbound. After looking at the small number of recent requests from fans, we realized our original October 1st deadline didnāt give everyone enough time. We are sorry your request was declined and want to extend the exchange window for anyone who pre-orderedĀ The Eye of the World.Ā
The exchange window will now be open through November 30th, 2026 in order to accommodate anyone who was looking to replace their book for any reason. If youād still like a replacement, please reply with your current shipping address and weāll take care of the exchange.
Thank you for your patience and for being part of our community!"
Thank you Reddit! Go team

Finally got my delivery of Fires of December - without any extremely visible printing errors, thankfully. The price increase last few months have slowed the build - but it does look pretty.

This is probably beating a dead horse at this point, though I haven't seen too many posts about this personally, but contrary to my title, I actually don't think the tone of the Cosmere has changed much.
Anyone else agree?
I remember the conversations that came about after Wind and Truth was released about how the tone became more immature, or that the humor was "MCU-like", and things of that nature. Now that same thing is being said sometimes about Fires of December.
I honestly have no clue what people are talking about. Brandon's style, in my eyes, remained the same. What's changed is how good he is at being a writer. All of his characters are deeper, have better arcs, and feel more fully realized as people.
It feels like a natural evolution: Syl's jokes, Hoid's crassness, etc... Perhaps certain Cosmere fans assumed the story/character arcs would go in a different direction than they actually did?
I don't know. I recall Brandon saying that he agrees a tad with the people who called his writing in WaT "juvenile", but the last thing I want, and the last thing any Cosmere fan wants, I imagine, is for Brandon to write something he doesn't want to write.
I've seen comparisons to post-Disney Star Wars and how some fans feel about that, but I just don't see it the same. It feels more like Lucas doing what he wanted with the prequels and some fans not resonating with it. And we all know how that fiasco ended.
Idk. I'm not even sure what I'm really trying to say here.
I just want Brandon to write what he wants to write, forever.

Just curious because I havenāt found too many people discussing the book itself as I recently got a copy from my local library.
I am a bit familiar with some of Sandersonās works such as Skyward and the Emperorās Soul novel as I say that because I was wondering what Blightfall was connected to in general such as the Cosmere series.

As shown in Rhythm of War, when the vessel of a God/shard is killed, another being can take control of the power. Taravangian becoming Odium for example (Iāve been doing audio books, so I may misspell certain names).
When talking with Jasnah, Witt/Hoid mentions that when he took his shard, he chose to not be bound by the power, so he was free to move around and do what he wanted. Hence he does not seem to have power like the Gods, but he is, in theory, immortal.
How does the process above apply to Mistborn, for instance?
Hereās what I mean (and correct me if Iām misremembering or just wrong): The Lord Ruler had chosen to keep Preservationās power at the Well of Ascension (thus keeping Ruin trapped). The Lord Ruler, however, did not have God powers, and did not gain immortality from the shard (like Witt); his immortality was because of Feruchemy and Allomancy. Preservationās power kept returning to well after a certain amount of time.
When Vin had the same choice at the Well, she released the power, thus freeing Ruin. Does the release of power performed by Vin equate to the release of power done by Witt/Hoid? If so, shouldnāt Vin have been immortal?
I am making the assumption that the Lord Ruler and Vin both became vessels to the Preservationās power, which could be an incorrect assumption (since Vin doesnāt really fully do it until the final scene). And if they didnāt become vessels, then why not?
Or did Preservation have a vessel all along, but the vessel itself was trapped inside the Well with Ruinās vessel? So Lord Ruler and Vin didnāt become vessels, but just borrow some of the power?
Just looking for some clarity. Thanks.
Edit: based on current responses, I see some of my errors. Ruin and Preservation still had vessels, so only some of his power was accessible by LR.
I also see that Wit does not hold a God shard, but a Dawnshard instead (I wish the word Shard wasnāt used to describe 3 different things lol). Iām currently finishing a second pass of Rhythm of War. Afterwards, Iāll reread Dawnshard and Wind and Truth. Where was additional info on God shards and Dawnshards explained, especially when Hoid is concerned?

Does anyone know if thereās a way to get the STL files for the Mistborn and the Wind and Truth mini sets? Iām backing at the 5th ideal tier and I can only see the add on option for the 2026 Stormlight mini set for STL files. Will it maybe be a stretch goal?

I got these items as promotional gifts a very long time ago. I donāt really want them anymore, but it feels like a shame to throw them out. I checked online to see if any collectors would be interested in buying, but literally could not find any of this stuff online for the most part.
The items are from top to bottom, left to right:
-a big sticker
-a set of four pins for each book
-a 12 page Mitosis graphic novel
- Prof, Megan, and David standees
Any ideas or can someone point me in the direction of a place I could share these online?

So I recieved my Hoid SBC backer stuff yesterday. Love the books and will definitely read "Dragon and the Dog" to my future niece/nephew at bedtime when they are old enough and are staying with Uncle C. Unfortunately my copy of FoD had poorly glued endpaper on the back cover resulting in the covers being at an off angle to the paper of the novel and the actual endpaper coming off of the top of the back cover. Dragonsteel approved a return/replacement within 24 hours so that isn't a problem, their CS team has always been great in my experience.
My concern is that between the EotW cover situation, current WoT issues, and now this with FoD I hope they get more QC people in because I worry the issues will only increase as Brandon's star continues to rise (especially if certain future things are hits and pull in more fans).

In Rhythm of War, the Pursuer swaps bodies, or husks, whenever he teleports from one place to another. What does that mean? Is he possessing another singer body and then that singer dies after he leaves it behind? But if that were the case, then he could only appear where a singer was previously standing, which is not the case.
So Iām confused at what these husks are and where they come from.

Im reading chapter 32, where Shallan recognizes fhe three guards in front of the cistern room as the ghostblood fugitives, hiding until the moment the perpendicularities open.
I might have misread something, but in which realm are those three exactly?
Shallan is in shadesmar.
The three guards were in the physical realm.
Now they are held hostage in shadesmar. And the ghostbloods are āhidingā in shadesmar aswell? Why? Wouldnt their lightweawing work better in the physical world? Theyd just be abother set of tiny soul flames.
Im confused a bit

Iām a big fan of DC High Volume. For those who donāt know, they take famous Batman comics and adapt them with voice acting, sound effects, background music, and narration (essentially a graphicaudio production). The video versions also include comic panels during certain scenes, whether to make a fight easier to follow or just to show off some particularly good artwork. Some adaptations include more panels than others, but I absolutely love the format. I donāt have a whole lot of time to sit down and read, so Iām listening to audiobooks almost constantly. Being able to watch these audio comics while driving (well, *listen* while driving, obviously š
) is fantastic. The audio works perfectly fine on its own, but whenever I glance over and see the corresponding panel and artwork, it makes the experience that much better. I just started listening to the GraphicAudio version of *White Sand*, and itās AMAZING. Originally, I planned to read along with the comic, but realistically, I just donāt have the time.
So, Iām wondering: **Is there any way to get something like DC High Volume for Sandersonās graphic novels?** Has anyone already put together something similar, or is there a way to make this happen officially?
Iād even love to know how I could present the idea to Brandon Sanderson himself, lol. It would just be taking the existing Graphicaudio production and simply pairing it with the corresponding comic panels in a video. No need to reinvent the wheel or create an entirely new adaptation! I genuinely think something like this could do really well on YT, and I canāt express how much I would love to see this happen!
Anyway, what do you guys think? Would you watch something like this? And is there any chance we could make it happen?

Overall I'm happy with my copy, but there's this big scratch on the back of my copy and the endpapers in the back of the book seem to be lifting so I submitted a ticket. It's a beautiful book however.

Spoilers for all of Mistborn Era 1 below. If you havenāt finished it, Iād stop here.
First time ever posting on Reddit (I believe?), so bear with me if Iām doing anything wrong.
If you havenāt heard the song, Iād recommend listening to it first and forming your own take before reading mine.
Iāve been listening to Hozier's music for a while, and a lot of his music I initially listened to had an ethereal, almost Fae quality. āEmpire Nowā hit me differently. Itās cinematic, with huge drums and a dark industrial kind of feel, but it still has that western-style twang behind it all. That blend alone feels like the two eras meeting.
The song itself is about a revolution against an empire: its martyrs, and the sun finally rising on the new world, the dream they made possible. Which to me feels much like the end of Era 1. The Final Empire falls, the ash clears, and Harmony remakes the world, with the Elendel Basin becoming a lush paradise. (Itās widely read/speculated as being about Irish independence from Britain, though I havenāt seen that confirmed.)
I can picture it over a montage: focusing initially on Spook, then widening out to the people and the land and civilization changing and growing over the centuries until we arrive at Elendel.
Thereās also an undertone I love. To me, the songās optimism feels almost too confident, and there is a subtle sadness to his voice. At least to my ears. Elendel, a world that's "easy" compared to the Final Empire. A beautiful, prettied-up place that believes everything will be fine now, with an unease underneath.
I say "Almost" only because the mention of 100 years, When 300 years has passed between the two eras, but I feel that can be forgiven or explained away as a passage of time.
I could break down the lyrics and how they connect in more depth, and may do that later in a comment if no one beats me to it. Let me know what you think though.

Hi Friends! I've been working on this previs project for the past year and I'm hoping it can reach Brandon Sanderson. This scene really resonated with me when I read Wind and Truth and I hope this makes yall feel the same way I did when I read it.
Ultimately, if this can make yall smile, then it was worth it :)

I know that pretty much nobody has actually played the game, but based on the description, does anyone get an impression of similar games?
I have a lot of board games, but rarely play the longer ones. It's hard to justify $90 for a game a night not play more than a time or two. But if I can compare gameplay styles to other games I know, it might help me get a feel for whether I'll play it more than once or twice.
Unfortunately, the video and description ("epic asymmetric strategy game") aren't making an impact on my brain right now.
Edit: spelling
