Hero of Ages spoilers Finished Hero of Ages Spoiler

[[Spoiler Alert] Just my personal opinion on the series

I’ve seen many BookTokers and online reviewers talk about how the ending of The Hero of Ages completely destroyed them and evoked a massive wave of grief.

Frankly, for me, it felt more empty than sad. Because I already knew Elend and Vin were going to die at the end, their deaths weren’t shocking. However, when I reached the epilogue and saw Spook and the rest of the crew find their restored bodies holding hands in a flower bed, it really hit me. After following these two characters through three books and two months of reading, it truly felt like a closed chapter.

Given how Vin and Elend had always been the emotional core of the series, having them die while Sazed became the true Hero of Ages felt a bit strange as a reader. It’s sad, in a way, that they could only find their happy ending in death—though it is satisfying that they both finally achieved what they set out to do. Regardless of how the final twist landed, the epilogue itself was brilliantly placed.

Overall Thoughts:

Book 1 (The Final Empire): Felt like a complete, standalone story. Realistically, you could easily stop there if you wanted to.

Books 2 & 3 (The Well of Ascension & The Hero of Ages): I honestly almost DNF’d both books midway through because the pacing dragged. That said, the final 200–300 pages of each book ramped up so intensely that they ultimately made the books worth continuing.

Hero of ages Spoilers: RIP Vin you would’ve loved Goddess by Laufey

Heard this song recently again shortly after finishing HoA and it just feels like it works so well for Vin! More specifically how she feels Elend views her during WoA and her struggle with being deified. No idea how much of a cross over between Cosmere fans and Laufey fans there are but just felt the need to share!

Well of Ascension spoilers I love everyone but find it hard to connect to Elend Spoiler

I am in Well of Ascension now and I am enjoying the story so far! Loved Vin, lived the crew, loved Kelsier, loved how The Final Empire ended. There is just one tiny thing: I just cannot seem to connect with Elend? 😭 I know he has a good heart and a good vision and all and Vin thinks he is a good man but I just cannot stand him. I hope this gets better.

No Spoilers Bands of Mourning Question

Hello all, I've read much of Sanderson's work, but am finally getting around to finishing Mistborn, Era 2. I absolutely loved Era 1 years ago, even some of the grittier, more violent elements. That being said, some of the content in the second era has surprised me in terms of its graphic nature. I just read the beginning of Bands of Mourning and was uncomfortable with the scene described at the end of the prologue. Could anyone tell me if the rest of the book contains similar moments? I'd just like to know what I'm getting myself into! Thanks so much and sorry in advance to anyone who reads much more violent content than Mistborn and thinks I'm a wimp lol

Alloy of Law spoilers How does storing health works? Spoiler

I'm in the middle of Allow of Law, and in Era 2 Feruchemy becomes much more common. And reading Sanderson describing how Wayne stores his health, I got this doubt of how it works exactly. Because "health" is not a measurable thing, right? Like weight or even age. Health, as I understand it (and I could be wrong, I'm not a doctor, feel free to correct me), is the absence of an unhealthy condition. So you get a cold because of a virus in your body. My guess is when storing health, the misting is actually toning down their immunological system? Does that make sense?

Or maybe that's just one of those things that we shouldn't think about too much

No Spoilers Well of Ascension was a snooze

Not sure if anyone else felt like this, but The Well of Ascension was a painful read. There was little to no new character development the only person worth caring about is Vin. Does Hero of Ages pick up or are these books just slow burns?

Cosmere spoilers Question about the advantage of a certain allomantic metal Spoiler

Hi,

I've been rereading the first trilogy (last time was over a decade ago and I have a blast right now) and was thinking about gold allomancy.

Is there any use or advantage of burning gold besides self reflection and some shenanigans with other magic systems? I would love to read your opinions and theories about it.

Mistborn: Final Empire spoilers Just finished the first Mistborn book. Here is what I imagined how the characters looked in my head Spoiler

This isn’t really a serious post, I just wanted to share what came to my mind as I tried to visualize these characters in my head because I thought they were kinda funny.

  1. Kelsier - Sly Cooper

I know Skaa are supposed to be identical to nobles in terms of appearance, but when I read the prologue, I really felt like they were some other species. And because Kelsier was introduced there, it always stuck in my mind that he would look something like Sly Cooper. Only thing missing is a Mistborn cloak

2) Vin - Kimiko (from The Boys)

To be honest I didn’t really try to visualize the look of Vin in my head until after I finished the book. I feel like Kimiko is a good fit just due to her slender build, dark hair, and overall the fact that they both came from really harsh upbringings and has super powers that they gained later in life.

3) Lord Ruler - Ganishka (Berserk)

Ganishka is a tyrant who controls a massive empire, based on Indian / South Asian / maybe Persian culture. Interestingly, Ganishka has the power to turn himself into mist to cover entire cities and battlefields, and control the weather and winds. He literally engineers demons and stuff in his army through gruesome human experimentation and stuff, and as a whole I’d say he’s actually way worse than the Lord Ruler, but they do share many similarities.

4) Sazed - Jabaloma (Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo)

This dude is literally an alien from the spinoff series of JJK. He’s like a diplomat sent to earth to negotiate with humans, and he’s very crafty and intelligent, so personality wise he’s not really a good match for Sazed. He’s also sort of an antagonist, but not necessarily evil. At least in terms of appearance, he looks very religious (the aliens in this story are very religious and spiritual, that’s sort of the core conflict — humans on earth are killing evil spirits that the aliens recognize as gods). I know that terrismen don’t look THAT different from other people in the Mistborn series, but they are at least distinguishable, similar to this alien guy.

5) inquisitors - Doki (Tayuya’s Summoning from Naruto)

At first, I thought steel inquisitors were like giants or something, so this is the image that I contrived for them. In Naruto, these demons have no intelligence, and are simply creatures controlled by a girl (antagonist) named Tayuya who plays notes on a flute to control them and attack her enemies. In Mistborn, inquisitors are actually smart and even crafty, basically usurping the obligators towards the end. So again, not a great match personality wise.

6) Breeze - Monopoly man (lol)

they really emphasized “dressed like a noble” so I imagined Breeze with a top hat and cane. Interestingly this might actually be more of Docksons look, but I never really conjured an image for him.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

Cosmere spoilers Ho finito mistborn la prima era... Spoiler

Hero of Ages spoilers Lord Devinshae? Spoiler

This is something that has been bothering me since the first time I read Mistborn final empire in 2016, but... why would Kelsier allow Devinshae to live? Dockson is his best friend, he wants to create the noble house war and literally, the first action we see him take in the story is killing a Noble for trying to do what this monster did and continue to do for decades? As in, even as a non-mistborn, he should have been gunning to murder this asshole. As the mistborn and survivor of Hasting? Devinshae should have died years before the prologue.

Its impossible that Keliser doesn't know, with what he told Vin. So why was so proactive killing the rest of the nobles for being scum, but left this one alive? The first time I was reading, I thought for sure afterwards Kellsier would have killed him or that Vin would have a confrontation during the Well of ascencion, or have Dockson being the one to take revenge but... no. He literally dissapear from the story and there is a possibility he survived the end of the world.

So why? Is anybody else bothered by this character and his interaction with the story?
