The cooler weather this week has been a dream for spotting warblers in Savannah! I’ve envied of all the warbler photo dumps I’ve seen from other regions over the past few months and decided to venture out the past two days to try and take some myself.

I’ve been bird watching since about April of this year, however my dad was kind enough to pass one of his Nikon D850s along to me a few weeks ago.

Here's a black-throated green warbler perched on a thin green twig amid green leaves. The patchy black plumage on the bird's breast indicates it might be a juvenile. They're on migration at the moment - I saw this one at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, NY.

I know it ain’t much but I was so delighted my phone zoom actually clarified the features so I could confirm it was a kestrel. I love these. First phone camera I’ve had that was able to do that

Birds are migrating through NY at the moment, as the leaves start to change. Here's a yellow-billed cuckoo stopping off on its journey south. My first time seeing one so I was excited to get a photo.
