ARTWORK Riddle Steph and Cass's relationship (art by me)
Steph's new choice in career has put something of a wedge in her and Cass's relationship. Cass thinks it's dangerous and reckless, and doesn't like being kept in the dark about what Steph is up to. Steph insists that Cass trust her, tired of being underestimated by the later, and the family writ large.
Both care deeply for eachother, but the lack of good communication recently has created a certain amount of tension and resentment between them.
Also, Steph's henches see what's going on and are simultaneously supportive of the relationship and tired of the bickering.

GENERAL DISCUSSION Hot take: I like Batman defeating everyone
Why? Cause for me, it makes sense that in world full of people with wings or that shot lasers from their eyes, a human can find resources to take these metas down.
Money can buy you a lot, and in a universe where you can even interact with aliens and gods, i believe that with money and contacts Batman can find resources to take all the other heroes down.
And tbh i really like the idea of a human been able to take down all these extremely powerful beings. I know its not a popular thought, but anyway, thats why this is my hot take lol.

FILM DISCUSSION Not even mentioning Batman in the new Clayface movie seems like a bad idea.
Also, if he was present during this time period, he's gonna look like a really incompetent hero when he's finally introduced. Like, you let all these people die, dude. He already did that in Creature Commandos. We don't need any more examples.

FILM DISCUSSION I love both relationships but I think the DCU should focus on BruTalia while the Reevesverse focuses on BatCat that way fans of both are happy
I think it’s time Talia gets a proper on screen relationship with Bruce and it’s time to heal her reputation from the original way Damian was conceived which has long been retconned.
FILM DISCUSSION Why do people say The Batman is super “grounded” and “realistic”?
After watching The Batman for the first time I was expecting it to be very down-to-earth and gritty. Instead it felt like they leaned into the comic book aspects way more than Nolan ever did. Obviously Gotham itself was crazy, but also the details of the movie and vibe didn’t feel nearly as grounded as Nolan’s. Not just the comic book aspects though but it felt like it leaned into the ridiculousness of the Batman world also. Scenes like Batman gliding in that crazy suit and hurting himself or Riddler and Penguins whole characters being very comic booky and ridiculous at least with how they act(which is the point of them they shouldn’t be mega gritty or basic criminals). I enjoyed it a lot but it was very different from the ultra-real and super down to earth adaptation I was expecting from what I heard.

FILM DISCUSSION Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin is awesome!
Why straight men hate the Schumacher Batman films…
Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin is awesome queer cinema — and that’s why a lot of cishet men & boys hated it. It was created for the gay male gaze. For once, all the straight guys got to see men’s bodies getting objectified FOR MEN.
They looked into the mirror and hated what they saw: bat nips and bat butts! In other words, someone treating men exactly the way straight men treat women!
Oddly enough, none of those men complained when it was Catwoman or Natasha / Black Widow or Barb Wire or Sheena or Xena or ….

FILM DISCUSSION The Dark Knight made as much as Brand New Day domestically when adjusted for inflation
I saw this on the r/boxoffice subreddit, credit to the OP of that thread for compiling this info:
When looking at raw ticket admissions, we have the following:
Spider-Man (2002): 70M
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021): 71M
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026): 72.5M
Batman has one movie that reached that milestone:
The Dark Knight (2008): 72M
If we adjust for inflation, the domestic box office for both films also becomes a lot closer:
- Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026): $360M Opening | $598M Legs | $958M Total
- The Dark Knight (2008 - Adjusted): ~$283M Opening | ~$671M Legs | ~$954M Total
Adjusted for inflation, they are separated by just $4M (less than 0.5%). As you can see, TDK had much stronger legs
The Dark Knight Rises domestic box office in 2012 was $448M with 55 million tickets sold. Adjusted for inflation, this would be $670-680 million. However, many analysts have speculated that TDKR almost assuredly would've surpassed TDK domestically had it not been for the tragic Aurora shooting at the time. Internationally, TDKR beat TDK (although to be fair, the international box office was lot stronger in 2012 compared to 2008)
The Batman on the other hand, pulled in 28-31 million ticket admissions and $370 million domestically. While this might not seem like much compared to TDK or TDKR, it was a lot better than Batman Begins (370 million was the amount Begins did worldwide). Although if you adjust for inflation, Batman Begins 2005 domestic gross of $205 million would be equivalent to $385 million domestically, which is actually more than The Batman. It also sold around 32 million tickets domestically, which is fairly close to The Batman (slightly higher). Though it's overall adjusted gross worldwide would still be below The Batman's
This suggests that The Batman is comparable to Batman Begins in the amount of tickets sold/domestic gross. Both films kinda mirror each other in that they were tasked with cleaning up Batman's image after a rough patch, and both represent a floor where the sequel has potential to do much bigger numbers. I'm already seeing a lot of goodwill for The Batman in edits etc
I am really curious how Part II will fare in the box office, I think it has a solid shot of scaling decently higher than the first

FILM DISCUSSION What are your thoughts on Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth in ‘The Batman’?
The common criticisms raised around this version is that, unlike the traditional version of Alfred that fans have loved across media, Serkis’ Alfred:-
- Lacks warmth, loving foster-father like relationship with Bruce and comes across as tense, adversarial mentor trying to push Bruce into what he thinks is best for him.
- Doesn’t address Bruce Wayne as the affectionate ‘Master Wayne’ or ‘Master Bruce’ rather simply ‘Bruce’.
- Acts as stern guardian than the comforting, wise surrogate father that has been his traditional conception.
- Leans too heavily into a gruff, scarred special-ops aesthetic, sacrificing the classic gentleman-butler charm.
What do you think of Andy Serkis’ Alfred? How would you want his portrayal to be changed, if at all, in ‘The Batman: Part II’? Would love to know the thoughts of y’all!
FAN CONTENT How would you rewrite DC's attempt at a connected universe?
This is just a fun thought experiment I thought I'd do after watching a YouTube video that tried to imagine the perfect connected DC universe.
So, here's my suggestion. Start with Batman, not the "realistic" re-imaginings; start with the noir comic book masterpiece. Give us Year One, then Man-Bat, then the other fantastical criminals of Gotham. End on the Joker, but choose an actor with range and physical and emotional flexibility to capture that whimsical side of the Joker--audiences should love him, then hate themselves for loving him. End with him being locked up. Then, switch POVs and tell the story of Batman from a villain's perspective. First a low-level crook, then Catwoman, then one of the Arkham inmates.
After that, introduce Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash--again, get someone kindhearted and sweet with good charisma to play him--Green Arrow, and Green Lantern, each in their own standalone movie.
Next, introduce the Teen Titans and Deathstroke as the leader of HIVE. Raven, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Donna Troy, Starfire, etc. Start with Robin and have him meet various members of the cast as he builds the team. Have Duela Dent briefly join the Titans because she's tired of working for HIVE. Then, have her make out with Robin and then reveal that she tricked him, then have the Titans banish her. End the movie with Joker laughing in the background as he tortures Jason Todd.
Finally, introduce a Harley Quinn solo movie that loosely follows the Harleen comic as well as Mad Love. End with Harley being wrapped in vines and kissed by Poison Ivy. Then, have a Suicide Squad movie where Harley is one of the main players. Maybe rip some ideas from SSKJL and have the squad have to rescue the Justice League from Brainiac with the help of the Flash.

FILM DISCUSSION Details for Ben Affleck's cancelled Batman have been revealed: (Body text read)
• Main villain would be Deathstroke played by Joe Manganiello.
• Deathstroke kills Commissioner Gordon, and would take Alfred Pennyworth hostage, breaking into the Batcave.
• Batgirl involved, and would almost be killed along with Batman in fight with Deathstroke.
• Film would end in climactic one-on-one CGI fight sequence inspired by 'Batman: Arkham Asylum'.

COMIC DISCUSSION The problem with Batman
I feel like this needs to be addressed. The prep time argument and opinion that Batman can beat anyone is ridiculous..
The issue I have with Batman is that all of his best feats are pure plotarmor. The thing that's supposed to make Batman "cool" is that he's supposed to be a human with normal human limitations who still manages to hang with top-tier heroes and villains. But then you look at his best feats and they're all things that are, by a very wide margin, completely beyond the realm of possibility for a normal human to perform. He lifts far more than the strongest men in the world who are roided to the gills. Somehow, even though he's weighted down with all his gear and literally wearing a parachute (his cape), he's able to run 2-3× faster than the fastest olympic sprinters who got their times wearing little more than running shoes and booty-shorts.
His feats are CLEARLY at metahuman level, but they refuse to call him metahuman because that contradicts the premise of his character ... and this is why it's a cheat because his feats are also a contradiction to the premise of his character!
If you take Batman as he is written up and supposed to be and only count his non-plot-armor feats, he's a pretty good street-level hero with a lot of money and a high IQ who wouldn't stand a chance in hell of beating any meta human, demigod or cosmic entity for that matter any day of the week.
