His name is Zack and he lived a glorious 13 dog years. Everything was fine this morning, he ate breakfast, pooped, napped but suddenly started acting strange.

I took him to the vet; imaging showed a ruptured mass in Zack's abdomen. We decided to let him go immediately.

It hurts so bad but it does not overcome the love I have for him.

I have three bassetthounds- this is the hair I’ve collected in less than 24 hours. I scrubbed my floors yesterday at 9 pm.

I have an air purifier that “collects” hair and I sweep daily. But good gravy are there better options? I’m getting ready to have surgery on my ankle and then my toe (different surgeries)- and I live a lone.

Any thoughts? I love my dogs but their hair!!!! Do yours shed this much?

We got 6 yo Miss Mathilda just two months ago - our first Bassett ever. Aside from occasional bad etiquette (planting or cutting everyone off!) she is an amazing walker and hiker. Saturday she made it up and down 1000 ‘ over four miles! We definitely trained up to this but she has never stopped on me. She sets the pace and she loves to go. ❤️

recently got a printer and discovered some nice raised bowl holders for our hounds so made some of those. also found this basset duck some one created and just had to print one, and more eventually haha

Netflix has a cheesy Christmas movie coming up, but it has a basset, so I'll probably watch *sigh*

How did you decide bassets were the right dog for you? What are your favorite qualities about them? Any regrets?

He’s a little over a year now, he eats like this with his back feet spread out. Is this normal/ should I tell the vet when he gets his yearly wellness exam?

So we went to the vet this morning. The vet is a little concerned for a UTI but says it may just be bladder immaturity since he is still a young pup. On her exam she noticed he does have an umbilical hernia and his right eye has started to develop entropion. She also gave me some cleaner for his long ears haha. We discussed everything and I still wanted her to do a urinalysis so she sent me home with a collection cup. We discussed option s about the hernia and entropion and she said that has long as we can push the hernia back in then we can wait to close it when he gets neutered at 1 year, she said we could also fix the entropion then to. She did give me some signs and symptoms to watch out for with their hernia and entropion. Just wanted to share an update about my little guy!

Cannoli, extremely sleepy, needs a nap….. but there’s mac and cheese on the line and he simply MUST stay awake!

Anyone else have a basset that uses “the basset stare” to get what they want? It’s currently 3:15pm. Her dinner is at 4pm. I’m now getting the “it’s time for dinner” stare 😂

I see the dogs on this page all the time, and they’re definitely more round than my pups (10 month and 8 month). Mochi - boy on the left - is the 10 month old, Matcha - girl on the right - is the 8 month old. I just want to know if I should be feeding them more or of they are at an ideal weight.

I just got my little dude Augustus (Gus) a couple of days ago. He is settling in well, he is playing, eating, and drinking water well. I have been taking him outside every time he wakes up, eats, drinks or plays. I have noticed that when he first wakes up he has a steady stream of urine. He then will continue to squat like he has to pee but only a couple of drops will come out. He is not excessively straining or whimpering when peeing. He even does this inside after he pees outside (I know puppies are gonna have accidents haha) and he does this every 2-3 mins, each time only getting a couple drops out. I’m not really concerned about an obstruction but I am concerned about a UTI, I plan on taking him to the vet tomorrow but I was just curious if anyone else has experienced this with a basset puppy or adult for that matter. As I stated earlier, he is eating, drinking and playing like a puppy should. He does sleep a lot, he takes like 2 hour naps and is then up for 30-60mins and then back to sleep. Any help would be appreciated!
