Question Is anyone missing a cat?
He/she showed up at my door just now (Duckworth area) and was extremely friendly and chatty. Stayed for a while trying to convince me to let them inside, and then ran off.

I just ate at a newly opened authentic Portuguese bbq grill and let me tell you, it was amazing. Address is 7 Anne St S, Barrie ON L4N 2C4, Canada, very friendly staff, the food was amazing. I would highly recommend you try this place out if you enjoy eating bbq chicken and more. AMAZING! Authenticity is real at this place unlike any other bbq grill I’ve had in Barrie!

Utterly broken at having to do this. It's been a hard pill to swallow that my 18 year old diabetic cat is not going to get better.
I'm looking for low cost but not low quality care. I would like to keep his ashes.

Good afternoon all you Barrie people!
The Hotspot Parking App is not working, so transit is free for the time being. Good luck to whoever rides transit and pays. I just got a free ride, because I was unable to login to the app when I got on the bus at 2:15pm. This outage seems to be happening all across Canada.
Have a great day folks!

Looking for good quality / good value local bulk meat vendors to stock up a chest freezer full. No Costco no chains, something local that’s still decent value. Anything is appreciated!

Hi, I'm getting married and doing a very small ceremony and want a white dress that resembles a wedding dress. I don't need to spend thousands on a name brand wedding dress I've seen lots of beautiful ones used for prom or ball gowns online but don't know where to find any in store that I can try on.
Any suggestions?
I know there’s bridal shops but I'm embarrassed to go in and ask if they have something within that budget lol.

Hi everyone!
I’m looking to rent a parking spot near Bistro Condos, around the Mapleview Dr & Yonge St intersection in Barrie.
Ideally, somewhere within walking distance of the building. If anyone has an extra parking spot available for rent or knows someone who does, please let me know!
Pls send me a DM with the location and monthly rent.
Thanks in advance! 😊

Looking for good vets. Used to go to Holly Animal Hospital but since they switched vets, not liking it there anymore. Suggestions?

On the eve of my 40th birthday, I am answering any questions live on Friday, October 23rd from 7-9pm EDT, regarding my campaign and everything I have gleaned about Barrie’s politics through this process.
For anyone who doesn’t know me, I am not a politician. I am just a citizen who is tired of standing on the sidelines while this beautiful city declines in several ways. I moved to Barrie a few years ago as my mum’s long-term partner has battled an aggressive illness, and I wanted to assist her more, since she is my rock.
Throughout my campaign, I have met with several non-profits, community leaders, and public services to get an idea of what’s happening on the frontlines. I have heard that many of the solutions to several issues are already known, yet un-deployed. I have been made aware of the willingness of the County to collaborate with a new council. I believe Barrie needs a council that is forward-thinking and ready to administer potent solutions to provide relief.
I am happy to discuss anything, whether based in Ward 5 or not. 7 out of 10 voters sat out the last election. I am just trying to find people where they are and inspire everyone to make their voices heard this October 26th.
I am hoping we can increase voter turnout with this election. Thanks in advance to anyone who engages. I am looking forward to the discussion!
TLDR: Running for City Council Barrie Ward 5. Met with community leaders and learned the solutions are present. Ask me anything Friday, October 23, from 7-9pm EDT.

A few people have asked how to get their voter PIN so they can vote in this year’s election.
If you haven’t received your PIN, call the City of Barrie’s Vote Line at 705-728-8683. After verifying your identity, city staff can email you your PIN — just ask!
Haven’t voted yet? You can vote online at https://Barrie.elections.vote until Monday, October 26, at 8 p.m.
Don’t miss your chance to have your voice heard!
And if you live in Ward 4 please feel free to check out my Facebook and the attached page for more information on my campaign.

Please help this first time mom out!
I have a 4.5 month old baby girl. This will be our first winter together and I’m not sure how to dress her up when we go out. For parents who have done this before - what is the best way to keep our little warm this winter? Looking for help specifically on how to layer, recommendations on where to get gear, etc. I will probably keep my girl in her infant bucket seat for a couple more months, and so I plan on using a car seat cover as well!
TIA

My friend's birthday is this sunday and she wants to hike to see the sunrise. I was wondering if anybody knows a good hiking tail that leads to a great place to see the sunrise.

Hey Barrie! We just wanted to share that as part of Ontario Public Library Week, we're hosting a free screening of the Emmy Award-winning documentary The Librarians this Friday at Georgian Theatre.
Doors open at 5:45pm, and we're holding a discussion from 6-6:30pm, with the film starting at 6:30pm (1h32m run time). The discussion is a panel-style conversation with a few members of the library's leadership team talking about intellectual freedom and common challenges facing public libraries.
Tickets are free, but paid parking is required at Georgian Theatre.
Register online: https://barrielibrary.libnet.info/event/17283033
Film Synopsis:
THE LIBRARIANS, which made its world premiere at Sundance and continued on to SXSW and Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, explores the urgent moment we find ourselves in. As an unprecedented wave of book banning is sparked in Texas, Florida, and beyond, librarians under siege join forces as unlikely defenders fighting for intellectual freedom on the front lines of democracy, flanked by concerned community members and young readers. THE LIBRARIANS is a chilling cautionary tale and rallying cry for freedom – told through the personal experiences of librarians under siege and the everyday patriots who join their ranks in defense of the books.
We hope to see you there!

Does anyone know of any good Halloween parties or events or anything to go to?
Hey Yall, looking for suggestions before pulling the trigger on a new set of winters.
im located In Barrie, Ontario so we see plenty of snow being in the belt.
I’ll be doing a lot of highway commuting mainly on these tires.
I’m currently looking at 2 different models
vs
Bridgestone BLIZZAK ICEPEAK
i definitely don’t want to be replacing my tires every season or two considering the price of these, can anyone who lives in this area share some experience/ knowledge that can help me decide.
Thanks

Since July, I've had a regular cat visitor who comes by that I thought was a previously posted missing cat (Newt). Newt has since been found and returned home, but since I had started leaving food out trying to catch the first cat, I now have two regular visitors who stop by for food.
This brown tabby has been coming around for a few weeks. I've finally gained enough trust to be able to get close and take pictures. Does anyone recognize this fella?
I'd like to help get both cats reunited with their families. I haven't been able to get very good pictures of the grey one yet, both cats have been skittish.
Located in the Holly community (Essa/Mapleton)

Just saw a campaign commercial for our current mayor’s reelection campaign and he mentions that he cancelled the 4% storm water tax. That’s a tax that Barrie wanted to add that taxed us for the rain that falls on our properties and part of the justification behind it was that other municipalities already had it.
My concern with his commercial and him saying he cancelled it is that it was never implemented for him to cancel.
Misinformation seems to be a big part of politics these days and our current mayor has certainly been misinforming us.
Hopefully our current mayor will soon be our former mayor.
Get out and vote.

Simcoe Muskoka’s inspection records classify infractions as critical or minor. Those are the health unit’s classifications, not ratings I’m assigning.
I’ve also kept Corrected During Inspection separate from Not in Compliance. Corrected During Inspection means the issue was addressed while the inspector was there. Not in Compliance means it was still recorded as non-compliant when the inspection was completed.
This roundup includes Barrie premises classified as Restaurant or Food Take Out, not every type of food premises inspected by the health unit.
Inspection results reflect what inspectors observed during that particular visit. They’re a snapshot in time, and records can change as new inspections and follow-ups happen, so check the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit inspection portal for the latest information.

Edit Hi! My husband has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and experience in automotive manufacturing, quality inspection, mechanical assembly, and industrial construction. He previously worked in Honda's manufacturing environment through a third-party company.
He's open to both automotive and industrial mechanical roles, especially hands-on positions involving quality, assembly, troubleshooting, or opportunities to learn and develop new skills.
