This will become a weekly Friday post for posts regarding pet adoptions and general pet questions. The intent is to condense the multiple pet adoption post into one place so they are easy to find. This pinned post is for:
Note: We will begin removing pet adoption posts and push them over to this pinned post.
Also, if you have a missing pet, feel free to post it in here as well.
We will also take a zero tolerance stance on people using this post to push their stances on certain animals/breeds, brigading from other subs, etc. If you need more clarity on what this means, feel free to reach out to the modmail.
We also recommend searching older "Weekly Pet Adoption" posts as well, to find animals on previous week's post as well.

Marcy’s family is heartbroken. She has been missing since October 14, and they are desperately trying to find her and bring her home.
Marcy is not just a pet. She is a beloved member of a family who loves her endlessly, and they are living every day wondering where she is, whether she is safe, and when they will get to hold their girl again.
There is concern that someone may have Marcy and that she has not been returned home. We are asking anyone who may have found her, taken her in, or knows anything about where she is to please do the right thing and help reunite her with the people who love her. No judgment. Her family just wants her home.
Marcy is a friendly blue/gray and tan French Bulldog last seen in Leander near Horseshoe/Circle Diamond, close to Leander Middle School. She is friendly and not shy.
PLEASE SHARE. Someone out there may have seen her, know something, or be able to help get her home. Even one share could make a difference.
📞 Call or text [737-383-4946](tel:737-383-4946) with ANY information.
Marcy, your family is waiting for you. You are so loved, and you are so missed. Please help bring this girl home. ❤️

As an independent voter in Austin, I’ve been in favor of the pursuit of a fully independent audit of our city spending since it was proposed and voted on years ago.
The unity displayed by council members, state reps and local activist groups to oppose an outside audit makes me even more interested to see what we could discover in such a process.
Things like project connect being such a huge unfulfilled and over budget process seem like good reasons. Educators wondering why schools are underfunded concerns me. Having the highest per capita spending in all the south concern me, making our tax burden higher than Dallas and Houston. Rebuilding the convention center when it was already not bringing in the promised revenue concern me. The cap and stitch debacle was another false promise for bond spending. Now we have another tax burden with Prop A/B, the idea that our current budget doesn’t include library and park maintenance simply doesn’t make sense.
As much as I would love to see this audit, and I’m sure it would expose where some of our budget shortfalls are coming from, the fact is that at the end of the day recommending cuts to our current city council would solve nothing and waste (less than the anti prop I messaging says) more money. With our track record of an ever expanding city budget, up 200% in a decade, the council would oppose every recommendation laid out, explain away any discovered waste and it would eventually fade away with local medias help.
I believe our expanding budgets, higher energy taxes and growing list of bond projects that change at the last minute only hurt the low income renters as landlords raise tenants rent to pay for all these things. The higher energy bills hurt only low income residents of Austin. The spending on a train instead of actual solutions for commuters only hurts the poor. But at the end of the day our council will not change their practices or adopt any recommendations from an outside audit.
Saw (first, heard) these 3 helicopters in the sky. Pics taken from Burnet @ W. Anderson.
One big boi followed by two normalish but still military looking ones. At first, I thought they were going in a straight line, but it’s been 15 minutes and they’re on their 3rd lap, circling around central/north austin. Anyone have any ideas what this is about?
My friend’s dog got away from him last night. Area btwn Robert T and Pleasant Valley on 5th or 6th. She is chipped but doesn’t have a tag and responds to her name, Baby Girl. We’re checking shelters too but if you’ve seen her, please let me know.

My wife has seen one in the alley a couple of times. It was cool to see that they have a mate.

Looking for suggestions for a walking grief support group or otherwise. Can be peer or therapist led. I‘ve found a few typical grief support groups in the area, which is great, but most are tailored to people who’ve experienced the death of a loved one, and my grief has a different shape despite being similarly all-consuming.
I’m open to other suggestions outside of walking, as well. Group grief support darkwave dance party? Saturday coffee and chat? Art?
thx!

firstly, if anyone knows who i can call to (non-creepily) find out the station the EMS that aided me are in so i can send a card or a dozen donuts, please let me know.
yesterday i experienced hypotension for the first time in my life. i had this sense of impending doom and thought i was going to die. my heart felt like it was about to give out and i was struggled to stand. i’m honestly still not sure what fully has caused it as i’ve been battling a couple health issues and the ER i went to was not great and pretty much left me in the dark and almost forgot to give me more fluids, but that’s a separate story.
regardless, the EMS crew that saw me last night were the sweetest i have ever met in my life. when i was shaking and thought i was going to pass out, i oddly felt comforted knowing that if anything worse were to come, they were the ones helping me. i’ve come across a lot of EMS/EMT folk as an ill person with several ER visits between this year and last, or the time i was in a major car accident. none have ever made me feel this level of comfort while also walking me through the process of everything they were doing. that means the world to me.
my veins were not pulling because of how low my blood pressure was (74/50 the first reading), they had to poke me more than five times and i still felt really comfortable and reassured by them despite that. it made me cry.
so yeah, just want to shout out the austin-travis county EMS crew. it was two lovely women and one very kind man. i hope i can find a way to extend the gratitude. and if anyone here finds themselves in a situation like mine, i hope you get an amazing crew like i did during a very scary time.

Authorities have accused the former band director at LBJ Early College High School of having a sexual relationship with a student who investigators say had already been sexually abused by another school employee.

Has anyone ever gone inpatient locally? I’m open to IOP non locally. I can’t continue like this and I can’t sleep and I can’t turn my OCD brain off.
I can’t see my psych until later this week and my old/current meds are no longer working and neither did the new ones I tried.

I'm an archival coordinator on a documentary about the 90s TX music scene(s). We're trying to track down archival footage of the Split Rail club at 705 Red River St. (now Elysium), particularly in or around SXSW 1996
Very interested in footage and/or photos of: venue exterior, people lining up or otherwise attending, and anything of the interior. Footage from the late 90s or even early 00s could be helpful too!
Also hoping to connect with anyone who might know who documented the Austin music scene back then
Even if you have old tapes and aren't sure what's on them...I'd love to hear from you
Any memories or leads would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!
