Tried a few westies so far and I’m wondering where all the good ones are.

Rather light fresh hop season in Austin. I counted 7 beers from local brewers. Can still catch a few out there:

Brewtorium’s FH DIPA is still listed on their website.

Hold Out may still have FH Ripcord on tap and/or cans.

St Elmo Crosby is still listed on tap at both locations.

Pinthouse FH Mosaic Takedown (Burnet Rd) and DDH FH Green Battles (Ben White - also at Burnet Go To)

WhichCraft has two FH IPAs in cans from Gigantic Brewing out of Oregon. I was told they have kegs of them waiting to be tapped as well.

I'm headed to Austin for F1 weekend and wanted to make beers back home to Dallas.

Who are the current best IPA and barrel aged stout producers down there? I haven't been to Austin in about 10 years so I'm sure there are some new gems down there. Probably wont have time to hit up any breweries so let me know the best bottle shops down there too.

Also, do you guys get baa baa there?

As the title says. I'm looking for who actually has a good selection of the larger format jester king beers around the cedar park/lakeline mall area. Specs/total wine seems to have swapped entirely to cans and HEBs will sometimes have some, but it's basically always noble king or wunderkind which are good but I'm wanting to branch out.

Anyone know where to go?

In Austin for work for a couple days, hit HEB and brought Electric Jellyfish and Yellow Rose back to the hotel (I have a rental car).

Underwhelmed by Electric Jellyfish... Enjoying Yellow Rose. I drink a lot of WeldWerks and Toppling Goliath hazies, and Sierra Nevada Torpedo and Bell's Two Hearted if that helps.

Update: Ended up with less time to get around town than I had hoped. Hit HEB on the way out of town and bought both PintHouse recs, Meanwhile Secret Beach and Jester King Sasha. I also bought a 2nd Yellow Rose and will try to ration them (which means they might last until Sunday).

Haven’t been to this brewery in years, I forgot how awesome their hazies are. I had the Haze, Daze, and Shine. 🍻

Hey all, Craft Beer Austin has partnered with a couple of upcoming festivals, and we wanted to share information on them and provide some coupons!

On October 17th, the San Antonio Beer festival will be back for its 21st year. They run a fairly large event, I went a few years ago and it was definitely worth the trip. Last year, they moved to a larger location right next to the Tower of the Americas. You can read more about the event here, and you can purchase tickets here. The following weekend, on October 24th will be the third annual Howler Fest at Suds Monkey Brewing. There will be 15-20 breweries attending. Dripping Springs Beer Fest is on hold while construction is going on, so this is the biggest festival in the area for the year. Article link, ticket link, and you can use code CBA for $5 off. I haven't attended this one before, but seeing the growth this year, I'm planning to check it out.

Finally of course, the Texas Craft Brewers Festival is just over a month away on November 14th. Hope I can post about cider here... anyway, I poured a can of their Empire Blush and it is super cloudy. I was fairly certain the other can I drank yesterday was clear, but figured I was just misremembering. However, it tasted quite different, so I poured another to compare and you can easily see the difference. Why is one of the cans clear and the other is cloudy?

For context the clear one is really sweet (probably wouldn't buy again) and the cloudy one is more tart and almost a little astringent?

Tried this last night, I don’t remember remember what Curious Fellow tasted like cause I had it once a year ago. This mosaic though, it’s light, crispy, and extremely crushable for a 7.1%

I hope this is acceptable. My favorite brewery from my hometown (Charleston, SC) has made its way to Texas, I see. Saw a large selection at CM at prices cheaper than it is back home. I guess they're making a push into the market, given the pricepoint. Anyway, if you see these cans, it's all very good. Edmund's Oast.

I didn't even get into craft beer until I moved here 17 years ago, but now I always bring whatever I have room for back when I go to visit.

They really killed it with this one. If you're a fan of Szechjuan food this beer is for you. The peppercorns are pretty mild but noticeable in an otherwise completely competent rice lager.

I hope they keep this one around. Its been my favorite beer of the year.
