Sweet Dreams (Dave Stewart, Eurythmics) I just got Dave Stewart's book, only half-way thru but wanted to post here. While he sounds like a nerdy George Harrison, his perspective on one of my favorite duos is just fantastic. (the time before and after Eurythmics isn't really as interesting to me, but still interesting to hear hiw collaboration with major artists).
The Lives Of Brian (Brian Jones, AC/DC) - this might replace my favorite (Hard to Handle by Steve Gorman). Brian is hilarious, his writing reflects it, and almost every story he tells, from elementary school to going deaf are all fascinating.
Red (Sammy Hagar) - I always liked his contributions to VH, as well as pre- and post- VH. But I think I listened to this one right after David Gorman's book about the Crowes, so it was underwhelming in comparison.
Hard To Handle (David Gorman, Black Crowes) A+ hilarious, sounds like he's talking to you in the car on the way to get pizzas and beer. He divides his attention to the Robinson Brothers between appreciation and ridicule, at all times, from day one to post Crowes.
Life (Keith Richards but also Johnny Depp pretending to be Keith). Johnny Depp covers the boring parts, (birth, blahblah) and then Keef jumps in on the insane shit; you can tell the difference when there's a laugh that bubbles up through old oil and gravel.
Cher pr 1 (Cher). Dammit it was fun and funny. Can't knock a lady who reinvented herself decade over decade. You can't dismiss the first woman to go bare-ass on MTV (I could be completely wrong on this).
