[Serious] What are some alternative solutions towards Bloor bike lanes?

We're hearing all extreme sides yet nobody seems to want to come up with a solution. On one hand, people want to just keep the bike lanes because it makes them safer. On the other hand, people want them gone because they feel it worsens their commute times. There's constant arguing about numbers like usability, car travel times, business revenue, etc.

Now using a politically neutral discussion, realistically what is the proper solution? How should we appease the people that actually use them without upsetting the people that were negatively affected? What alternative streets should have this if not for Bloor?

What's your opinion on election lawn signs on shared rental property?

So I live in a rental, and the front yard is shared with a couple of other units.

If one tenant puts a sign on the lawn for a candidate that they support, and another tenant removes that sign a few hours later and puts it in the bin, what's your stance on it?

Is it inappropriate to put a sign in the yard without asking other tenants if they agree to it? Or is it wrong to remove someone else's sign and put it in the garbage bin?

Eta: Thanks for all the responses! I'm curious if there's any legislation around this? I know it's illegal to remove signs from another property, but does this apply to shared property as well? I didn't think it did.

Fyi, It was me that requested the sign, and my downstairs neighbors removed it. They also broke the metal stand so I can't put it back. I can see both sides of it and I wanted some objective opinions. I understand them not wanting signs in the yard if they disagree, but I'm also feeling like my voice is being silenced. The signs are too large for my front window, which is mainly blocked by a tree anyway, so that option is not ideal. I also don't want this to turn into some kind of feud.

ISO Best rate airport limo service to YYZ. Not Aeroport Taxi and Limo as they were awful

Last year, we took Aeroport Taxi and Limo service and firstly they did not arrive at the booked time and we had to call them which took another 30 minutes for them to arrive. No apology. Secondly, the driver did not want to help load and unload the bags as he was elderly. It was most definitely not a pleasant experience. Can anyone please recommend a reliable service and one with a better driver experience?

Traveling Hair Stylist - Hotel Appointment Needed

Hi there! My boss is going to Toronto for a business trip in about a month and I am looking for suggested local services for mobile hair stylists. Is there a suggested app or local business that provides mobile services for a hair blow out and styling (beach waves)? We usually use the PRIV app but that is not available in the area.

Greatly appreciate any suggestions! I will keep searching but please share!

Bars recs

Looking for some bar recommendations downtown that specifically mid 20’s bi girls hangout? Every bar I’ve been to has such basic bland music, mostly uni students. Not my vibe. Looking for a feminine, slightly alternative vibe since I’m a very feminine/looks basically straight bi girl & that’s also what I’m looking for. Any recommendations are appreciated!

Where does one go to get continuous cosmetic skincare in Toronto?

Where to get your skin evaluated and prescribed retinoids or tret with continuous care to make adjustments based on the results?

Whenever I need a dermatologist I am given a referral for that one issue and get whichever dermatologist is on duty.

I would like to have continuous care to re-adjust the treatment as needed.

It's for skin pigmentation due to other medication. (Not covered by Ohip, so I don't even know if I need a referral.)

Can anyone recommend a clinic?

(Medical grade laser on-site would be a definite plus.)

What is the demographics of Cabbagetown Toronto?

not sure if this is the right forum and I know there must be publicly available information with the numbers but I’m specifically interested in the pocket of Cabbagetown east of parliament and north of Carlton, so that little pocket that is close to the farm & park. not the entire entire neighborhood.

is it mostly older families? young families or a mix? I know there are a few schools there but most homes there have a low school score. for what it’s worth I’m almost 40 and wondering if that neighborhood is more older or younger or a mix. thank you very much!

Do you think the decision makers in Toronto make bike lanes ugly on purpose?

I was looking at images of bike lanes in cities such as Amsterdam, Copenhagen and even here in North America : Brooklyn. These cities seem to plan and beautify their bike lanes with trees or at least not make barricades an issue. Whereas in Toronto, anyone can clearly see that bike lanes seem hastily put together, with glaringly unaesthetic barricades that are then left as an eyesore.

Do you think our politicians make bike lanes ugly so when they are removed (against all reasonable arguments) people unconsciously ‘breathe a sigh of relief’?

What should I do for the day?

• Upvotes

I know this has been asked before but I was wondering what I could do for free or cheap in Toronto for a day. I will be in the area for a work trip and have a day free in the city. I currently live in NYC, so ideally something that I couldn’t find anywhere in NYC, or that is different enough from things in NYC. I’d likely rely on public transportation.

edit: I am asking again because the things they suggested in the previous Reddit were things I wasn't too interested in as a lot seemed like things I could do in NYC, also, it was during the summer and I’d imagine a lot of things are not available now compared to the summer. People asked in that subreddit where that person was from so that could do things that are different from their city, that op didn’t respond. I’m coming this week.

Why are roads in north york in worse shape than the rest of the city?

Aside from Aeas like Yonge and Eglinton, which is a mini downtown, it seems like any road I drive on in North York haven’t been repaved since before amalgamation!

There are cracks between the lanes that span multiple blocks, sun, con, sewer, and seemingly infinite amount of patches, even outside of areas with construction like Shepherd!

TPS Parking Ticket @ CF Fairview Mall

So I was parked in a mall parking spot and a mall security guard was walking around the parking lot with a TPS parking enforcement officer issuing tickets. I got to my car at 11:30am and the ticket was issued at 11:27😣

the reason it says is “Parking Vehicle on Private Property WithOut Consent”. The mall is open and parking lot is open and I got this ticket. I did not leave my car overnight, I’m for sure going to dispute the ticket. How can they prove this? Seems like she(mall security) was targeting random cars in the parking lot…

Edit: yes I was at the mall tech support at the mall before the 10am opening time

Insurance Jumping From $400 to $800 After Minor Accident — What Can I Do?

I’m insured with Square One in Ontario, and my insurance is going from almost $400/month to almost $800/month when my policy renews.
Back in November 2025, my car was involved in an at-fault accident, but I wasn’t the one driving. The damage to the other driver’s car was under $2,000, and the damage to my car was minimal, around $700.
Nobody was injured, and we reported the collision, but neither party went through insurance to make a claim. Everything was settled out of pocket, and no insurance company paid for any damages. This was also the only accident involving my car in the past three years.
I recently learned about Ontario’s Minor Accident Protection Rule under Regulation 664. From my understanding, insurance companies aren’t allowed to increase premiums because of a minor at-fault accident if the damage is below $2,000 per vehicle (which was the limit when my accident happened), nobody was injured, and the damages were paid privately.
Does my situation qualify under this rule, even though the collision was reported and I wasn’t the person driving?
Has anyone successfully challenged an insurance increase using this rule? Can Square One actually lower my renewal premium if I provide pictures, repair receipts, and proof of payment?
My renewal is coming up, and I’m trying to figure out what I can do because going from $400 to $800 a month over an accident with such minor damage seems ridiculous.
Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Weekend vs Weekday for Zoo

I can take out a weekday to visit the zoo (for the first time) but weekends better. Is it worth going on a weekday or is the weekend fine as well?
