USB Keyboard

Hi,

I wondered whether anyone could create a bespoke Amiga 500 or 1200 keyboard that I can use in my fully loaded WinUAE AmigaPC, that runs floppy via grease weasel and ide cdrom drive.

I know I can buy a new keyboard etc etc but doesn't anyone make anything like that?

My Amiga 500+ and I are reaching a 35-year relationship in the near future.

After a period where my Amiga was more of a decoration than in use, it was time to change that. 10 years ago, my Amigas (I own an A500, two A500+, and an A1200) were recapped and preserved for the future. But last weekend, the time was right to bring my first beloved A500+ to the next level.

I installed a 4-in-1 Kickstart module, a DF0/DF1 switch, and an external Gotek drive. My A500+ setup now consists of the Amiga 500+, the A590 HDD, two external floppy drives, the Gotek drive, and the 1081 Amiga monitor.

When there is no need for the Gotek drive to act as DF0, I daisy-chain the Gotek as DF3. This is perfect for copying my physical disks, for example using the legendary X-Copy, directly into an ADF created on the Gotek USB stick. The retro copy feeling is nearly the same as in the 90s!

I know there are easier ways to put ADFs on the USB stick using a PC, but I want as much retro feeling as possible and want my ADFs created from my own original floppies.

After a few hours with my Amiga, the room fills with that typical CRT smell, combined with the classic floppy "tak-tak, tak-tak", the hand-written disk labels my friends or I designed back then, the blinking LEDs, and the warm, colorful screen of my monitor and latesr When a chiptune Kicks in, I slip back in time and find myself 17 again. 😄

There could be an RTX 5090, a high-end CPU, and terabytes of AAA games, nothing comes close to the "full experience" of an Amiga setup in action. Thank God I've been able to enjoy all these years right from the very beginning.

A huge THANK YOU to this incredible community! To all the hardware creators, coders, preservers, and fellow enthusiasts who keep designing new upgrades, fixing old boards, and sharing their passion. You are the reason this legendary machine is still alive today.❤️

AmigaSource.com 25th Anniversary

TLDR – Today I’m relaunching my site https://amigasource.com/.  For the past 25 years I’ve been endlessly cataloging Amiga related websites and now the site is even better!  The current link count is 5431 of 99.95% pure Amiga goodness.  So hop on over and enjoy!

 Thanks

Scott P

In celebration of the site’s 25th anniversary and in conjunction with a complete rewrite of the codebase, I’m happy and proud to reintroduce AmigaSource.com back to the Amiga community.

Born from the ashes of the once great Amiga Web Directory (https://www.cucug.org/amiga/aminews/2000/000101-cucug), the site is an attempt to hand catalog every Amiga website on the web.  At least that’s the plan.   The current count is 5400+, of which I’ve been tirelessly working on revalidating 4900+ and the initial cataloging 3500+ of those.  HOLY CRAP is this quite a task!!  I should have started this part a DECADE AGO!!!  LOL!  Feel free to help out by clicking on the SUGGEST EDIT link.;-)

The BEST part is at least they‘re in the main database for you to search and explore.  No 2nd page google/bing non related ai slop Amiga links found here.  Just 99.95% pure Amiga love found on EVERY PAGE!!

Now as you can imagine in the past 25 years A LOT has changed in Amiga land.  Back in 2001 my initial category count was just 37.  Today it’s grown to over 130.  OUCH I know, but I’m working on this.  Any suggestions in this department would be GREATLY appreciated.    Turns out in 2026 there’s more to the Amiga than ever!

The other big change is the countless number websites that are no longer with us.  Over the years I’ve still been adding and cataloging them, via https://archive.org/, so their efforts have not been lost to the passage of time and their stories and knowledge will still live on.  I think these pages are the TRUE jewels of the site and the direct link to our Amiga heritage.  Go search for a site created in 1985.   I dare ya!  ;-)

The bottom line… I’m a Amiga/Commodore guy, the site’s BETTER than is been for the past 24 years and I’m happy with it!  I just hope someone else out there finds my little contribution to the Amiga community useful too!

Well that’s about it.  For now please tread kindly to all the GLARING mistakes you come across.  I’ll get to them… eventually.   The site is STILL undergoing last minute tweaks and more features will soon be added.  If you have any click the ‘Let Us Know’ link.

 Thanks and Enjoy

Amiga newbie with a PiStorm and questions on software choice

I’m new to Amiga and live in the states and picked up an NTSC Amiga 500. I did swap the Fat Agnes for a 8372A variant so I can switch between NTSC and PAL in software hopefully.

I have a PiStorm coming and this setup will be run only on RGB to a OEM version of the 1024 essentially (Magnavox 8CM515) and no HDMI or flatscreen use at all. I can almost without doubt say that this will only ever be used for gaming and not any other type of desktop software. or use case.

Amiga Vision caught my eye because of the way that it takes a lot of guesswork out of determining if a game plays better in NTSC format or PAL format. based on where it was developed and what optimizations were done. And it also looks like a very clean library collection. I know it mentions some games may not be there, but I would assume these are probably not very popular games that I would’ve went looking for anyway.

The other one I think I’m interested in is Amiga Game Selector because it seems more focused on just gaming and not so much of the other desktop use cases, but it’s also a much larger file size and I’m sure probably has lots of duplicate games and I have to determine on my own which region a game plays best for.

What are your recommendations between these two, or maybe there’s something else software-wise that I’ve missed? I really prefer Amiga Vision honestly, because I have so many computers and game consoles, and I tend to get very distracted when I sit down to play something, and I’d like something to be super straightforward without jumping onto the Internet to determine which region I should play a game for or which rip of a game may be best and all of that stuff. But at the same time, I have found extremely little information about running it on the setup.

Just Amiga Monthly magazine, issues 1 to 6

Just Amiga Monthly (JAM) was a UK subscription-only magazine produced entirely on Amiga computers. I used to write for it, and its publisher/editor Jeff Walker gave me permission to upload the first six issues to the Internet Archive:

Up until now, this has been a "lost" magazine, with only tiny snippets available online. Jeff is hoping to scan the rest of his magazine archive over time and make them available.
