why is it so difficult to find alcoholic friends?
i’ve never drank at a bar only drank in my room or with family but i’ve tried so desperately posting “looking for drinking buddy in my state.” and the only replies are from people who actually don’t drink at all maybe a couple times a year. is the rest of the true alcholics also isolated drinkers? do we get to a point where we don’t need others?

I’m addicted to Cutwater White Russians
I’ve never pondered my alcoholism so hard as smashing 4 of these in a work night & driving to work the next morning buzzed.

Is daytime drinking really that bad?
lets say if you woke up at midnight and started your day there, by the time its mid day it would be your evening right? you have been up for 12 hours so if you had woken up at 8 am, then it would be 8 pm, 12 hour difference. so to you, its the evening and you would be getting into bed soon (if your sleep sched was bad cus you didnt have to work) so to you, its past 5pm where drinking is more likely but to everyone else, you are daydrinking, they probably dont know you have been up for a while and just think you day drink but to you, is it normal?

21st birthday soon, advice please!
hi my 21st birthday is coming up in a few weeks, and in the US that means i can finally drink soon! i want some advice. i'll be 21f, weigh 135 pounds (61kg), and 5 foot 1 inch tall (165cm).
how can i drink either vodka shots or wine to a level around tipsy/drunk but not fucked up or have a bad hangover? i plan to drink lots and lots of water after because i hear that helps, and i was thinking maybe start off with a small fat/protein snack and 2 shots and wait it out 45 mins before doing any more?
also bonus, what does tipsy/drunk feel like? i heard dizzy warm and happy, and those all sound great haha
thanks!!

Poison!
I'm a cheap liquor guy, mainly vodka because I can barely taste the difference between "good" and cheap vodka. Mostly just get Caliber (classy I know) or Smirnoff. Went to Ralphs today and decided to try this which is the same price as Caliber.
Holy shit this stuff is hard to hold down, even mixed. Definitely the worst vodka I've ever had in my life.
I want my $6 back.

Cheap vodka and cheap chinese
Value wise, the monster was the most expensive thing here. Not a bad cheat meal

first time drinking
hi!
so i’m 21f i live in a country where alcohol is legal at 18.
i’ve never drank alcohol/been drunk. i’ve always wanted to try drinking but just the smell grosses me out. however still want to experience it even if it’s just once.
issue is, i don’t want to get DRUNK, like maybe only tipsy to see how i handle it. i would like to remember it afterwards and not spend the next day wondering wether or not i did something stupid.
so how should i go about this?? in regard to things like alcohol level in certain liquors, how much i should start with, should i start with canned drinks or shots and how long do i wait in between drinking/shots so i don’t overdo it?
ANYYYY advice would be nice!! just really don’t wanna go to far for my first time but i know NOTHING about drinking

Children of alcoholics: Why can I handle way more alcohol than my friends who drink every weekend, even though I barely ever drink?
My dad was an alcoholic pretty much his whole life and passed away early because of it. My mom, on the other hand, never drank at all, and we grew up in a pretty strict household.
I’m old enough to drink now, but I almost never drink—I don't go out for "drinks" or hit the bars unless it's a special occasion like someone's birthday.
Recently, it was my first real night out for a friend's birthday. My friends go out and drink every single weekend, but somehow, I was able to handle a shit ton more alcohol than all of them??? WHYY? without feeling like it affected me the same way.
Does anyone else who grew up with an alcoholic parent notice they have a surprisingly HIGH natural tolerance, even if they barely drink themselves? Why is this a thing?

Question about beer taste
Is all beer supposed to be bitter? Most people I know seem to prefer the "taste" of beer vs liquor or mixed drinks. Beer doesn't burn but its horrible taste lingers.
Or is it only cheap brands like bud lite, Busch, bud wiser, Miller, corona and Heineken etc... The beers you can buy anywhere and at any bar.
Not sure if hops is the source of beers flavor. Or why the flavor is sought after or enjoyed.
"it's better ice cold" but it isn't, and you have to suffer through two full pitchers to get any effects.

Is it more appropriate/acceptable for a 5 year old or a 10 year old to consume alcohol?
Overall do you think it's more appropriate/acceptable for a 5 year old or a 10 year old to drink?

Is this ok on the wood for mamajuana?
Just came back from Dominican with a bottle of mamajuana (just the wood in a bottle). Got a bottle of crap rum to soak the wood for a few weeks before making it. After pouring in a bit I noticed what looked like mold/webbing. After it got wet it looks a little waxy. Guessing I got a bad bottle (🤬). Hoping someone here can help with what it may be and next steps (which I’m assuming is to junk it)

Review #1 Tried Black Dog Gold Reserve 12 Year the other night and figured I’d share some notes.
Blended Scotch (spirits from Scotland, bottled in India by United Spirits/Diageo). 42.8% ABV, 750 ml. Paid around ₹1800–2000 depending on the market.
Nice deep amber / gold color. Decent legs on the glass.
Pretty inviting right away. Toasted oak, honey, vanilla, some dried fruit (raisins/apricots), a bit of butterscotch and light spice. Not much peat or smoke – very approachable.
Smooth and medium-bodied. Honey and caramel up front, then oak spice, a touch of dark chocolate and sherry-like notes. Sweet without being cloying. No harsh ethanol burn at all.
Medium length, warm and oaky with lingering honey and gentle spice. Clean and easy. How I drank it
Mostly neat, then with a few drops of water. Also tried it in a simple highball – works fine either way.
Solid everyday sipper. Not the most complex or exciting 12-year blend I’ve had, but it’s smooth, well-balanced, and good value. Feels a step up from basic blends like 100 Pipers or Teacher’s without jumping into Chivas/Johnnie Walker Black territory price-wise.I’d give it a 7.5/10. Would buy again for casual evenings or when I want something easy and non-challenging.

Halloween Jungle Juice Style Drink Ideas?
So I got invited to a Halloween party this year and it was decided that instead of me filling my fridge with an unfortunate amount of Jell-O Shots, that I would bring some sort of jungle juice/hunch punch. I'm not the biggest mixologist (I'm perfectly content with something simple 9 times out of 10) but I don't mind doing this. I've looked at a few recipes (we're no longer teenagers using whatever's in the liquor cabinet and fridge lol) and have a rough idea, but I was hoping somebody might have some more themed ideas? The more specific your recipe, the better for my brain! I want to make a good impression with this group, so I don't want to bring a punch that's going to go untouched. TYIA!
TL;DR: I need jungle juice recipes, preferably Halloween themed!

New to alcohol, how much is considered safe? (If at all you drink)
Please don't start with "no amount of alcohol" or the less the better.
I recently started drinking, my first experience was dog shit and it took me a year to try again and surprisingly I enjoyed it a lot. I usually drink once every three months (because I lived in a dry state) but I have recently moved to a place where alcohol is legal.
I am thinking once or twice a month?
Also, I don't get drunk or tipsy easily. Last time I had 210 ml of vodka and rum (150 vodka and 60 rum) in a span of 1.5 hours and it barely got me tipsy.
I also don't puke or get hungover so there are no immediate side effects but I know it's harmful in the longer run.
Is 210 too much? Even if it's once a month? Or I can go more?
Or any tips that can get me tipsy on less drinks and sometimes maybe drunk (I don't want to lose my mind all the times but sometimes you get the itch)

Cheers!
I have three days off, starting today. I figured a bit of alcohol wouldn't be a problem!
