As the title suggests, I've applied and have been successful for a new role at my company, the role is in San Francisco. VISA process is in flight, not yet approved.

About me:

• Single, 36 years old.
• Job is Tech/cyber.
• Have lived in the US before (east coast) 2022-2025.

My job would be based in the Financial District of SF and would intend on commuting via Seaplane 3-4 days a week.

2. How’s the ferry commute to SF in reality? Reliability, crowding?
3. What’s a realistic rent for a one-bed right now, and which landlords or complexes should I avoid?
4. Is Alameda a good place to meet people as a single guy in his 30s, or does everyone head to Oakland/SF for that?
5. Where do people get decent coffee, a proper pint, and a good spot to work remotely for a few hours?
6. Any clubs, run groups, sailing or rowing clubs, or meetups that are welcoming to new arrivals?
7. What do you wish you’d known before moving to Alameda: parking permits, utilities, anything?
8. Is it worth having a car here, or can you get by with a bike, transit and the odd rental?

Is there some weather event I’m not aware of?

When will they repaint the lines on Webster?? Going towards the tube, the lines fade and some cars think they’re staying in their lane but actually almost hit the cars next to them. Does anyone know if the dirt plans to re paint the lines on the road?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a crawl space and for someone to put in a water barrier? (not sure if this is exactly what it needs). It is smelling very musty and would like someone to have a look at it

I was on a walk when I saw a small-medium black/brown Chihuahua/terrier/Dachshund ish dog with a collar running down central towards Webster. I saw it again at the intersection of 6th and Santa Clara running towards 5th street. The dog was running pretty fast both times and did not stop when called to. I hope someone can get this doggie or the owners find them. I will make a report to animal control in the morning but I'm hoping this baby makes it home safe and sound before then!

I just moved to the area for work, a solo drummer, and looking for a practice space in or around Alameda. I live on the island and was wondering if anyone was looking to save some rent by letting me set up my kit and jam/practice (probably while they're all at work). I'd only really use the space between 1-4pm.
