Personally, the ban on Naturia Beast hit me really hard, since I play Earth-attribute decks. (RIP Naturia Beast; you didn’t deserve this, fly high...😔 )

Card Game Discussion Which deck do you think came out the overall winner from the banlist ?

Post image
76 Upvotes

Invoked is pretty much unhit and still has super poly at 3 so it can break boards, floodgate with oceanus banish the extra with aeon

Angelecy only got its ftk version hit ,the normal version is still legal and can play all the dominus cards and floodgate with castellan and shatrenga

Artmage only lost varudras but they still have recapture and the ars magna cards (same goes for doomz)

Striker only got a slap on the wrist but now with most negates and floodgates and ftks and handloops being banned , breaking boards and otking with it has never been easier

Fairy tail still has acces to alot of endboard pieces due to the magistus cards and overall spellcaster slop is still alive

Power patron lost varudras, zenna and quartet but they can still ftk with mercurium

Trains lost 2 gustav but they can still ftk while setting up a regulas for protection

Anime/Manga Discussion Gotta be honest, when Leon was stated to use a deck of "Fairy Tale" cards, I genuinely didn't think he'd end up pulling out a card that would make me go "I'm sorry, who are you?"

Card Game Discussion Differences between the TCG and OCG Banlists: Post-YCS Houston Edition

These are the updated stats:

  • The TCG format has 155 banned cards.
  • The OCG format has 94 banned cards.
  • Both formats share a total of 79 banned cards.
  • Of the 155 banned TCG cards, TCG has 76 cards banned that the OCG still has legal.
  • Of the 94 Banned OCG cards, OCG has 15 cards banned that the TCG still has legal.

It's 5:30 AM local time when I'm making this. After the bore fest that nobody actually watched besides the ban list reveal, I bring the stats that no one besides me cares about. So as promised I made the updated version of this and honesty it's kind of sad. Look at how much it blew up. We now have almost as many cards banned by themselves in the TCG, 76, as the two formats share together, 79. It's a complete wonder when you look at these screenshots on how different the TCG and OCG have become. They've literally have become different games. The images here show the differences.

The TCG is trying really hard to embrace this competitive balance. A lot of floodgates, combo extenders, bridges, negates & hand rips were taken out to the woodshed The TCG community has been fairly happy with the direction. I have some personal issues with the way the TCG has been going and there should be some more expression of gameplay in moderation besides just "back and forth."

As a quick side note: I'm legit shocked that they let us have M-X-Saber Invoker last list, because that is a card that falls under the bridge category the TCG has been trying to eliminate. Don't be surprised if it gets banned again sometime soon when the conditions are right.

So now that we are here. Where is the game for the TCG going to go from here? The OCG in all likelihood isn't putting locks on their archetypes anytime soon, if at all to be perfectly honest. I suspect the TCG will just be going even harder in the direction until there is very little of "Unfun cards" in the format. Then they would start heading to the breakers as the decks aren't going to be good enough to protect themselves from the breakers. Nibiru will be banned in 2029, I'M CALLING IT NOW! I wouldn't be surprised that within the next year or so we double up on the OCG in banned cards. It's going to be staggering and pretty entertaining.

Please like last time leaves your thoughts and opinions. I appreciate everyone from the last post commenting.

I will now list some notable cards the OCG still has legal for play and when the TCG murdered them sent them to the Shadow Relam for not being balanced, which will be in parentheses:

  • Ame no Habakiri no Mitsurugi. Still at 3. They have Prayers at 1 though (October 2026)
  • Triple Tactics Talent. Also, still at 3 (October 2026)
  • Maxx "C". The bug still lives (February 2018)
  • Curious, the Lightsworn Dominion. That's right, OCG still got two Extra Deck millers (December 2022)
  • Original Sinful Spoils - Snake-Eye. Must be nice to still play Snake-Eyes (December 2024)
  • Red Reboot. My OTK decks miss this so much. (October 2022)
  • Appointer of the Red Lotus. The old Cimo special. (June 2023)
  • K9-04 Noroi. He is still at 3 in the OCG (May 2026)
  • Prank-Kids Meow-Meow-Mu. This isn't ever coming back (May 2022)
  • Number 42: Galaxy Tomahawk. Does anyone know OCG still has this card? (January 2019)
  • Knightmare Goblin. This card only lasted four months in the TCG, a full year in the OCG originally. OCG unbanned it last year and no one is playing with it. (September 2018)
  • Heavymetalfoes Electrumite. This is NEVER EVER coming back. (January 2020)
  • SPYRAL Master Plan. Souls got this card banned and now it's gone and she's banned. OCG got full power SPYRAL and it does nothing. (January 2020)

Saving the funniest for last.

  • Self-destruct Button. The longest tenured card of this segment. OCG has never banned this card. (January 2014)

Card Game Discussion Stupid fat 16 year old chud mourns his dead reptile deck

Post image
99 Upvotes

I wanna start this off by saying that i completely understand why habakiri needed to go. I mean the amount of bullshit this one card allowed was insane. The mere fact it survived as many banlists as it did was purely stupid. Doesnt make it any less hurtful to see it go. You know, mitsurugi was my first archetype that got me into the tcg. I still remember barley knowing how to use it and learning along the way with mitsu figuring out how to play ygo. (And I still am) I get my ass kicked in this game A LOT. And if you’ve ever played yugioh you know how agonizingly long a lotta turns in this game take. In my first time going at it, i was dog-walked but i remember one of the guys at the shop handed me a rare version of Murakumo for free after seeing i was kinda zoned out. (Photo of it in my hand is attached) Ever since then I got REALLY attached to this deck. Especially since it was my very FIRST ONE. I even fused two other decks with mitsu because of its self destructive splashability. (clown crew and fiendsmith to be specific) Ive played a lot of games, lost a lot of games, and grew a lot over my time playing this deck. Not just in the game but irl too. During my sophomore year a couple months back, i went through a lot and i mean a LOT of shit. A lot more than what most would consider normal for a 15-16 year old. And throughout that horrible time, yugioh as a whole was one of my only real escapes from the horrible reality that was my life at that time. I waa never someone who went out much, i was horrible at socializing too so i didnt have friends to go out with. But the constant thrill of learning from my losses, to keep trying to find the potential i didnt see in mitsurugi it kept me wanting to come back for more and more eventually to the point where it became one of my ACTUAL hobbies that wasnt just scrolling through my phone and playing videogames all day long. In a way, if it wasnt for mitsu introducing me to ygo i never would’ve learned the true joy that comes with exploring the world and getting out there. I’d like to imagine that mitsu stuck with me to teach me what i was missing and once it saw that I was starting to improve on myself and starting to grow, it knew its time was up and it left. I know its a damned deck of cardboard cards and i shouldnt be this wrapped up about it, ffs im talking about it like i lost a family member or something. I mean, its not like i was gonna be able to play it forever sooner or later i was gonna have to let it go. With how ygo balancing is, it was gonna get power crept or banned. But i still owe a lot to this silly little deck of big scary reptiles. So, thank you mitsurugi. Without you i dont think i’d be who i am today. Hopefully one day Konami might give yall a retrain or something but until then, im off to bigger and better.

P.S: I’d really appreciate deck recommendations cause now i gotta find more cards and im a broke 16 year old so yeah thanks.

Anime/Manga Discussion Why did Yugi stop using Beaver Warrior?

I find it funny to have Beaver Warrior stand beside all of Yugi’s iconic monsters and got dumped after Duelist Kingdom. Atleast Celtic Guardian got a retrain also.

Card Game Discussion The state of started decks post banlist

With the ban wave, most recent premade deck are not legal to play out of the box, wich i think make a really poor port of entry into the game. The sole exeption being black rose and charmer. Dont get me wrong, these card got their ban fairly. I just think a card game should have starter/structure deck that arent illegal to play

I think konami should release some new deck sooner than later so to not loose potential new player over this. First step could be releasing the alreasy in the work for ocg magistus deck and modify the list if needed for the new banlist. They should also make legendary modern deck 2027 with deck just as competitive as the 2026 version was back then.

From legendary arc v deck, Lunalight lost crossout designator, cross sheep, triple tactic talent and called by the grave. Odd eyes lost called by the grave. Speedroid lost 1 droll, called by the grave and tripla tactic trust. They also lost crystalwing as an upgrade path.

From the modern deck 2026, sky striker lost called by the grave, triple tactic talent and 1 engage. Xsaber lost called by the grave, triple tactic talent, naturia beast trishula and gottom. Mitsurugi lost habakiri, bagouska and dugares. Misurugi tempest is also lost because it require a monster with habakiri original name

From the 5d decks, yusei lost called by the grave, crow lost 1 droll and called by the grave. Akiza is unharmed

The albaz deck lost albion. The limited card already came a 1 copy. The charmer deck wasnt affected but lost the quarted as an upgrade

The blue eyes deck lost called by the grave.
