And yes, this archetype was basically a stillborn archetype, zero supports after release for 10 years, and the hits are a mercy kill atp, but I still mourn for my first pet deck :(

As someone who used to play the game a lot in the 2000s and occasionally from 2010-2016, I am really shocked how significantly the game has changed since then. Banned cards that no one or very few people thought could safely return are at 3 nowadays and they do absolutely nothing.

Especially shocking to me is Change of Heart (or any control-switching card) because the experiment to bring back Snatch Steal in 2014 ended up terribly and it was banned immediately after since these effects were still extremely powerful. All generic control-switching cards were banned (except Mind Control at 1) and Brain Control even received an errata which made it completely useless to 99% of all decks!

So, my fellow Yugioh veterans, what are the cards that you never thought would come off the forbidden section, but became totally useless/fine today?

It feels like the community just accepted that Branded and Striker are the chosen decks immune to hard hits, and people started acting like it would always be that way. Well, surprise: y'all are not invincible.
Look at what Branded actually does and tell me it's "fair":
• It ignores modern checks: It can play through almost every handtrap or effortlessly avoid playing into cards like Fuwa.
• The infinite resource loop: Once the engine is going, it never runs out of gas. Between Quem, Cartesia, Branded Retribution, and The Fallen and the Virtues, the deck recycles itself so well that out-grinding it is nearly impossible.
• Board wipes don't matter: If it gets board-wiped, it just builds an immense amount of follow-up in the End Phase anyway.
• Degenerate win conditions: For a deck that gets praised as "fair midrange," it relies way too heavily on toxic, non-interactive locks that completely shut down the opponent.
• Oppressive interaction: It has 20 different ways to interact with you, dodging targeted effects left and right, guaranteeing 3+ interactions every single turn.
To anyone saying, "But that's its gimmick, it's the End Phase deck!" — that's not an argument for it being balanced. Maliss’s gimmick is the banish zone, and the game rightfully keeps those mechanics in check when they get out of hand. A gimmick is a playstyle, not a free pass to have infinite resources and toxic locks.

Even with the Albion ban all this is still possible btw it is just harder to set up and much harder to recycle into.

At the end of the day, I feel completely vindicated by this banlist. The balance team finally took an honest look at Branded for once, saw exactly what the deck has been getting away with, and came to the exact same conclusion.

Beautiful call back to the Power of the Duelist set, and also a great tie in with the GX remaster since they just recently had the tag duel with judai and aster!

YCS Houston Genesys day 1 stats

For YCS Houston going first on feature has a 68% win rate. This is in line with YCS Paris which had a 69% win rate going first on feature matches. The point update has so far shown no effect on bringing down the favourability of going first. I'll be updating the sheet with both advanced and day 2 Genesys when they happen.

Because in a scene where Yugi and Friends are interrogating the two, Yugi and Friends are in their school uniforms while Rex and Weevil are in their casual clothes. I'm guessing that since they're pro Duelists, they wouldn't have to go to school anymore.

Normally being able to draw cards is a really good effect in Yugioh, but Card Of Sanctity just has such a ridiculously steep activation cost it's just not worth and is even usually detrimental.

Are there any cards that let you draw cards that are worse than it? Or is it the worst?

What I have presented here is all cards that are banned in both the TCG and OCG respective formats, In some useless but interesting data. This was a day late. Yes I know Called by the Grave got cut today. I just like to see how different we are between our formats and how much wider it's going to get. I wouldn't be surprised at all in about 2-3 years that we would have over 100 cards more banned in the TCG that the OCG will keep legal.

In the images, the limited cards are what they are at in the other format. For example. OCG still has one block Dragon, Maxx C and so on. And the TCG still has Subsitoad, Obedience Schooled and so on.

After today's part 1, we're at 50 cards the TCG has banned that the OCG still has legal. Tell me what you guys think. I really want to know. Please try not to be mean to the OCG players just because they don't ban whatever we get rid of, I know that's asking a lot. lol. They play by completely different rules and we shouldn't trash them just because they do.

I'll make a updated on Monday. I'm working on a Genesys one too but it's a lot more work and effort. Personally, all the TCG bans kinda makes me jaded a bit. I don't care for the floodgates nor the "end board pieces". I play mostly rogue decks. And I get why they get hit on the lists. But it feels less fun. That's just how I feel.

• TCG has 122 Banned cards
• OCG has 94 Banned cards
• Both formats share 77 Banned cards.
• Of the 122 Banned TCG cards, TCG has 45 cards Banned that the OCG still has legal.
• Of the 94 Banned OCG cards, OCG has 17 cards Banned that the TCG still has legal.

Unfair hit when more powerful decks and archetypes (cards) exist, imo.

Since Konami push DM for the 30th anniversary, i'm expecting we will have DM and R card. I would love Kaien Emissary of Darkness as a real card and not a Token abd also some Wicked Gods supports : So since they are not many card i would love Dreadroot form with Divine Evolution to be printed as a new card.

For other mangas, i'm hoping we will finally have Genesis Omega Dragon.

And to conclude, since it already happens that we have some anime card, every opportunities are good for me to reclame Super Fusion God (Gottheit Yubel Das Liebe Singularitater) please. And Hydradrive Chimera Dragon too.

NOTE: I noticed that they decided to prioritize Meta/Competitive cards over iconic signature ones for Kaiba. That’s why we missed out on a Blue-Eyes white dragon in Ultimate Rare and got Cyber Jar lol.

I think if Yugi were to receive 5 ultimate rare cards in that pack, it would be mostly meta ones.. not signature/iconic cards, just like Kaiba.
