To my understanding Cerebro is used to enhanced the telepathy of the user. What if not the telepath uses cerebro ? Would it like, fry the brains of the user ?

It seems like barely any writer wants to use him.

He’s very strong and can fit into any team imo.

They really said "let's make Cyclops even cooler."

BLAST PEARL JAM AS LOUD AS YOU CAN AND GET IN THE CAR! WE'RE GOING TO THE MALL, BABY!

KURT LODER IS ON MTV NEWS AND CLINTON IS PRESIDENT! IT'S ADAM-X TIME!

Seriously though, it's fucking hilarious that Nicieza intended Adam-X to be the third Summers brother and just never got a chance to finalize that story and then, like twelve years later they invented Vulcan and basically gave him the EXACT same origin story as Adam-X.

Also...

EDITORIAL: So, he's a new character? What's his name?

NICIEZA: ADAM-X.

EDITORIAL: Oh. he's got the X in his name already? FUCKING SWEET. BUT I THINK WE NEED ANOTHER X.

NICIEZA: ADAM-X, THE X-TREME.

EDITORIAL: FUCK. YES.

(Even Flow by Pearl Jam begins to loudly play in the office. It emanates not from speakers, but from some unseen force)

EDITORIAL: WHAT'S HIS POWER?

NICIEZA: He sets blood on fire.

EDITORIAL: HELL YES. BUT I WANT HIM TO HAVE A SWORD. SHATTERSTAR HAS A SWORD AND IS COOL AS FUCK.

NICIEZA: ...he can only set blood on fire...after...it's been exposed to oxygen.

EDITORIAL: ...So he uses the sword to cut them first...?!

NICIEZA: (Nods silently)

EDITORIAL: JESUS FUCKING CHRIST, FABE'S DONE IT AGAIN.

Honestly, the saddest part is that I really do actually like Adam-X. And X-Men #39 is a nice story.

2nd slide is reference!

Kurt “Nightcrawler” Wagner is one of my favorite X-Men characters. He’s got it all: pitch perfect design, cool and dynamic powers, incredibly fun personality, and ties perfectly into the X-Men’s “mutant metaphor” with his visible, demonic-looking mutation.

He’s been a staple of the team since the X-Men’s Second Genesis in 1975, and has been there through it as long as the likes of Wolverine and Storm.

…but he’s not as utilized or even popular as those two. Why is that? Like I said earlier, Kurt has so many redeeming qualities that should make him one of the X-Men’s biggest stars, but that’s verifiably not the case.

He skipped out on the 90’s animated series because it adapted the Jim Lee relaunch era which had Nightcrawler on Excalibur, he appeared in only one of the original FOX-Men movies before disappearing (and then popping back up in the bad ones), he’s missed out on games like the Marvel vs Capcom series and is currently missing out on Marvel Tokon and Marvel Rivals, and in the X-Men ‘97 they brought him in for a season and half only to end up killing him.

It’s not much better in the comics. After the disappointment that was the 90’s era he started the new millenium on Chuck Austen’s disastrous X-Men run (not even on Claremont’s X-Treme X-Men), did nothing of note during the 2000’s except get the Azazel retcon (which was retconned out), died during 2010’s, and then came back and proceeded to be nothing again during the 2010’s.

The Krakoa era gave him some relevancy by being on the Quiet Council, but at the same time made him weirdly, overly natalist for no reason. He got to be Uncanny Spider-Man, which was a really cool change of pace, and that was basically it.

Now he’s with the current Uncanny X-Men team, and I somewhat like it (includes Wolverine, Gambit, and Rogue who are also some of my favorites) but he’s still not really getting much focus

I feel like there’s some great potential for Kurt to branch out and join a team like the Avengers, or even lead a longer solo series and be like classic silver-age Daredevil, the more swashbuckler type superhero.

But what do you guys think? You agree or am I just expecting too much for Nightcrawler?

😔 I didn’t think the chin was so bad before

Looking for X-men and x-men pastiche street level stories about ordinary people with powers. any medium. I know about District X and it's on my tbr list, but any other good ones. I've got a story in mind about a group of people with rather mundane jobs and situations who are mutants at a support group together. a construction worker, a homeless person working a job and sleeping in their car, a high school student, maybe a nurse. And a mutant social worker facilitating. Stuff like that. The people who don't go to Xavier's School for Giften Youngsters and aren't changing the whole world.

Looking for any references that could serve as research for this.

I do find it funny how Sabertooth shot an unaware Angel with an assault rifle, poisoned him, nearly gutted him, and still lost the fight 💀

And Angel still had enough left in the tank to fight Caliban afterwards.

I feel like it may be heading in that direction, but I'm not sure how to feel about it. Would they want it? How would they be as parents? Would Rogue's powers have any effect on the baby?

I’m not an avid comic reader, so feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about anything.

I know Claremont’s original idea was to have Destiny and Mystique be Nightcrawler’s biological parents, but that idea became a retcon for Azazel & Mystique. A lot of people consider the original idea to be better. But… better how? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against Mystique and Destiny being together, but how do you explain Mystique being able to:

Sleep with a mutant>Store the “DNA” from said mutant>Shapeshift into the same mutant while impregnating someone>Imprint the DNA onto her child ✅

Copy & use another mutant’s powers when she shapeshifts ❎

And since Azazel’s not an actual demon, he doesn’t cheapen Nightcrawler’s story of not letting your appearance define who you are. It could’ve been to where Mystique was with Baron Wagner, had a fling with Azazel, got pregnant, the Baron believes the child is his, secretly hooked up with Destiny, then ran away with a newborn Kurt before abandoning him.

Again, I’m not against Mystique and Destiny being together. But I don’t see how Destiny’s involvement as biological parent is better than Azazel’s when it contradicts how Mystique’s powers work. And again, if I’m wrong on any of the facts, feel free to correct me.

I just thought about it and it's very interesting that if Inde Navarrette wins an Oscar this coming year (she has significant buzz) she will not only be the 2nd actress to ever play Rogue on screen, but also the 2nd time Rogue is played by an Oscar winner, being the only Oscar winner in the entire new cast at that.

Some of the other Xmen actresses have gone on to win Oscars (Halle Berry, JLaw, Jessica Chastain), but it was only after their debut in the Xmen. At the time the first X movie released (2000), Anna Paquin was the only cast member to already have won it.

It would be very interesting if history repeats itself, they seem to always cast the most promising young talent for Rogue.
