Important Addressing the Influx of Posts and Reactions Involving AI

Hey everyone! So, the moderation team has taken notice of the increased frequency of AI posts and the reactions to them and we would like to talk about it.

Current AI Rules
First things first, let’s bring up the subreddit's current rules regarding AI. Currently we have a rule (specifically Rule 14) that requires posts with AI generated content to have “[AI]” in their titles. If posts don’t have these tags then they are removed, even if AI is mentioned in post descriptions or the comment section. AI has never been allowed for purely art related posts, even if “[AI]” is included in the title.

There may have been instances in the past where AI posts have been allowed to stay up because moderators missed them. We aren’t perfect but we try to check every post.

In the past we’ve let posts slide if they have tags similar enough to “[AI]” such as “(AI)”, “(AI-used)”, “(AI-assisted)” since these are clearly distinguishing a post as including AI generated content.

These rules were decided on after a community vote on if to allow AI posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/s/QzAe06PmQz

Issues With The Current Rules
Over time AI has become better at various tasks, whether or not AI is good at certain skills overall is a widely debated topic and we will not be joining that debate here.

We will mention the ethical concerns though, which include but are not limited to:
- Misinformation (AI commonly mis-states info as fact or blatantly tries to invent it)
- Copyright (AI trains on data and uses it in ways that violates the rights of artists, especially when it comes to visual media/images)
- Environmental (AI has adverse effects on the not just the natural environment but also human environments where the people that live there don’t have the resources to stand up against AI infrastructure effectively)
- Overshadowing (AI occasionally overshadows the work of humans, sometimes with the human that requested the generated content passing it off as their own)

- Oversaturation (AI can generate content extremely quickly and can take over a large portion of content in certain spaces)
- Society (Mainly societies are centered around some form of capitalism and AI within these systems threatens to provide high class individuals/corporations with the power to infringe on the rights of people without consequence)

The validity of each of these concerns (or even if they should be concerns) is a highly debated topic and full of nuances. For some AI is purely a tool to be used or misused like any other while others have opinions that vary across a wide spectrum.

Amendments to AI Rules
At the current moment and until another post from the moderation team regarding AI, AI is viewed as a tool that poses more risk to the community, though due to AI usefulness and its ability to pass as human we prefer to take a hybrid approach.

Because of varying extents to which AI can be used we are adjusting Rule 14 to the following (this may be changed in the future):

----------

  1. AI is NOT allowed in purely art posts
  2. Mark posts with one of the following (include brackets): [AI]: Relied heavily on AI, may be used in place of other markings, [AI-assisted]: AI directly contributed to a part of the post (code, text, assets, etc), [AI-advised]: AI was heavily consulted
  3. Explain how AI was used. Be as clear as possible and put this at the top or bottom. Do not try to justify AI usage, just explain how it was used
  4. Refrain from sharing AI-related posts frequently

----------

Obviously we cannot always definitely determine if someone used AI and sometimes AI use is so minor that it's reasonable not to mention it. The moderation team will still attempt to check posts for AI but sometimes we must rely on the subreddit's members to be honest in how their post was created.

Commenting on AI Posts
As mentioned there have been a few more AI posts recently and with them some heated comment sections. We ask that all members remember the subreddit's other rules regarding being respectful with each other and not escalating arguments.

We have seen unwarranted escalations from people on both pro and anti-ai sides and we would like that to stop. You are free to disagree and have discussions with each other but just remember this is a subreddit for Worldbox not AI debates.

This post will stay up for a while and will be free to debate the subreddit’s AI rules, AI posts, and opinions of other server members regarding AI if you guys decide you want to discuss those things.

TL;DR
The moderation team is trying to set up a better way to address concerns about AI content in the best way it can, so were making some changes. Read Rule 14.

I know things have been confusing and complex lately, both around here and in general. I just want to have something pleasant to look back on, and this is something pleasant.

I also want to share that I haven’t stopped working on my WorldBox fan comic, "Grin Reaper," and I’ll continue doing so, at least until I say otherwise.

The images:

  1. I was inspired to create new designs again. I'm still not entirely convinced by this latest one because of the way its torso twists, but that's part of the fun.
  2. Deities as Minor Gods (bots)
  3. Here, I decided to place the legs closer together, though I feel it somewhat diminishes the 3D effect.
  4. Models for elves.
  5. Silk Spectre II (Template for my cancelled WorldBox fanfic mini-comic)
  6. This was the second attempt; too many details.
  7. First attempt. I based it on designs by WalterMagni; I recommend checking out his work.

There were more designs, but I lost them. Thank you.

Question Is there any reason why characters with immortality die anyway?

Last night I started a world with all magic type kingdoms and my necromancer king died only like 200 years in. I've never had an immortal last longer than 1,200 years since I've come back to this game, and it always says "so-and-so has kicked the bucket!" but there's no reason a literal god with fewer settlements than their diplomatic max should die during peace time during the Age of Hope.

Is there anything I'm missing?

Idea/Suggestion The game needs a toggle to disable randomly generated religion ffs

Random religions popping out is so annoying and you can't keep up with removing traits when your world is big. Suddenly a random race can teleport or summon skeletons

Idea/Suggestion Things I'd like to see in the game

-Dragons being a subspecies and stronger/more intimidating. I feel like dragons are way too weak in the game, in every piece of media and mythology, dragons are this colossal looming threat and they js feel weak in Worldbox, like at the very least make them a subspecies 😭

Maybe have dragon riders or tamers too but thats kinda far fetched

-Mods for mobile. Kinda basic but it'd be nice

-More gifts and kingdom features like walls/castles. The kingdom stuff is kinda secondary, but at least like 3 of the gifts rn are kinda useless or not that good, it'd be nice if you could give units better powers.

-Being able to cast spells manually like for attacks when possessing. I really hope they implement the new corpses feature with the necromancers/gift of the dead so they can bring back some corpses as zombies/skeletons even though the skeletons coming from the ground is cool too, maybe it can be a world law or something

Idea/Suggestion Idea: Political Overlay

• Upvotes

Adds more depth to how countries see each other

Each Nation now sees every other nation as:

At War: (Dark Red)
• In open warfare

Dislikes: (Pink)
• won’t trade with one another
• Diplomacy debuff
• Will refuse to enter alliances that include a disliked nation, and will leave alliances that have a disliked nation

Disapproves: (Burnt Orange)
• Will trade but a slight diplomacy debuff
• Can enter alliances with one another

Neutral: (off-white or institutional white)
• Will trade
• Can be in an alliance

Approves: (Light Green)
• Slight diplomacy buff

Likes: (Olive drab)
• Moderate diplomacy buff
• Will try to join alliances with nations they like

Guarantees: (Purple)
• Will guarantee the independence of a nation
• Will wage war on an aggressor of their guaranteed nation
• Major diplomacy buff
• Basically an ally but one way

And a new overlay that shows the colors (like culture, language, religion) and it is called “Diplomatic/Political”

Ey yo, iz ya boy Anny G M, and I'm… immediately regretting trying to pull off the accent 😏. I'm leaving that on though.

We are in the year 245 C.E. in my world and still staring at a frozen map for me to write up some lore about a city i like before we move on to with the processing of making history as opposed to just talking about it.

Today, we'll be talking about, Morene and, as a consequence, about the history of the Iregiusm kingdom, a truly awful country with a history of betrayal against their own race and species.

It's actually quite a neat city, so I actually like it 😁.

The Kingdom of Iregiusm was founded in the 4th month of the year 109 C.E. by way of participle inheritance for their Princess Leteda, who was crowned Queen on the same year.

Leteda inherited the city of Porentium, not Morene, as her capital and, for a year, for 24 years, she would rule the kingdom. I would say this was a peaceful reign, but mama didn't raise no liar.

In June of 123 C.E., the Bah Empire, then the Bah kingdom, declared war on the Kingdom of Iregiusm with Leteda still being queen.

There was much fighting in the continent of Bahan for a while, with the sheep amassing their armies from Booh, the nearest city to Porentium. In May of 124 C.E., Porentium was conquered and is still a Bah city still to this day, 120 years later.

Leteda fled and stayed well away from the sheep before founding Morene in January 125 C.E., just to the north of Porentium. And west of what would later be Caran.

In March, 126 C.E., the war ended. Morene and the Kingdom of Iregiusm would be allowed to grow. Caran, a sister city of Porentium and, in a less direct way, Morene, was founded on the same year as Iregiusm, just a few months later, in June. This city is a tragic story because it was barely around, as a settlement, for just under two decades before getting conquered, never to be independent again. It was never even a capital or holdout.

In December of 133, after years of rebuilding her civilization with what few people she had, Leteda died, handing over the crown to Luvacor, who would rule for a staggering 40 years from Moreme as his capital (134 to 174 C.E.), let's talk about him for a while, at least about what we can gather about him.

The economy of Iregiusm start to steadily grow from this man's rule at a weirdly consistent rate, homelessness was quite low at the time, which is weird for this world, as almost no one has homes 😒.

A terrifying 31 people moved out of the kingdom at the time, just before he died. Lots would move in after he died though, which is kinda weird, I'm gonna look more into this mechanism during the next war. The birthrate was steadily increasing, later to give rise to Iregiusm's extremely high population density in the south. Overall a very boring rule at home. In 171 C.E., King Luvacor joined the League of the East with Bah's king at the time, together, they essentially mobilised to conquer much of the world, with the Wars on the Homeland starting in February of 171 C.E. with a War on Eumagnthys. Bah forces landed on western Unsuria over the next few years, with the violence being so bad Eumagnthys broke apart 177, three years after Luvacor's death.

Cemirus took the crown a month after Booh declared independence as a kingdom ruling over Vori. In 175, Ifortar rebelled from Eumagnthys, Iregiusm declared war on it in that same year to mop up the continent.

The fighting continued for a few years, with Tucer, King of Ifortar getting slain in battle by Cemirus himself 😆, Verci was crowned three months later before he himself was got by Lucina of Morene. Navutumce, my fave city, was founded as the lands of southwestern Unsuria were abandoned due to violence in June of 178 in the Navum peninsula.

Cemirus, the Chad that he was, killed Lenaria, a Queen of Ifortar, in battle in March of 180 C.E., Visina was crowned three months later before dying just three months after that, at the hands of Asetia of Morene. In October, the Kingdom of Ifortar was conquered by Iregiusm itself.

Cemirus was awesome and I loved watching him 🙂. He's still a traitor though, as he aligned with the sheep against humans.

In 181 C.E., Bah declared war on Kashusia herself, the oldest human kingdom and home to the heartland of their race. Bah armies were still there, but retreating, it was up to the still forming army of Norent (former capital of Eumagnthys, and the western border of Unsur) to meet the much larger Unsurite army.

Gadiri slew the Queen Jura of Kashusia in August and Bah's main armies started to land in Navum, passing through Navutumce, who were neutral as a province of the Kingdom of Ylucyn.

Other armies landed in Nerudun in the north of before heading south, into northern Unsur. Queen Lutis took the throne as shit hit the fan for Kashusia, with armies raiding the entire province of Unsur and the eastern parts of Vasanna to the west of it.

This much of the war saw the first navel invasion humans had ever ventured, as forces from Iregiusm also landed on Unsuria to back up their allies. January of 186 saw Vasanna declare her independence as the Kingdom of Aeflavarix. Kashusia declared war on them while their capital was being sacked.

Iregiusm was crucial for this massive, complex conflict as their army basically held Norent together while also backing up the main Bah forces as they and the Aeflavarix army surrounded and beat out the last of the resistance forces.

In March of 191, the capital was taken and Lutis fled. She abdicated later that month and the Kingdom dissolved. Three months later, Bah declared war on Aeflavarix, which was exhausted. The Iregiusm forces were retreating at this time, and the war lasted less than a year, with Aeflavarix falling in June the next year.

Damn this took a while. I actually finished this yesterday, but I took some time off from it to gather all the screenshots to give this dry, flat history some colour 😮‍💨.
