Important Addressing the Influx of Posts and Reactions Involving AI

Hey everyone! So, the moderation team has taken notice of the increased frequency of AI posts and the reactions to them and we would like to talk about it.

Current AI Rules
First things first, let’s bring up the subreddit's current rules regarding AI. Currently we have a rule (specifically Rule 14) that requires posts with AI generated content to have “[AI]” in their titles. If posts don’t have these tags then they are removed, even if AI is mentioned in post descriptions or the comment section. AI has never been allowed for purely art related posts, even if “[AI]” is included in the title.

There may have been instances in the past where AI posts have been allowed to stay up because moderators missed them. We aren’t perfect but we try to check every post.

In the past we’ve let posts slide if they have tags similar enough to “[AI]” such as “(AI)”, “(AI-used)”, “(AI-assisted)” since these are clearly distinguishing a post as including AI generated content.

These rules were decided on after a community vote on if to allow AI posts: https://www.reddit.com/r/Worldbox/s/QzAe06PmQz

Issues With The Current Rules
Over time AI has become better at various tasks, whether or not AI is good at certain skills overall is a widely debated topic and we will not be joining that debate here.

We will mention the ethical concerns though, which include but are not limited to:
- Misinformation (AI commonly mis-states info as fact or blatantly tries to invent it)
- Copyright (AI trains on data and uses it in ways that violates the rights of artists, especially when it comes to visual media/images)
- Environmental (AI has adverse effects on the not just the natural environment but also human environments where the people that live there don’t have the resources to stand up against AI infrastructure effectively)
- Overshadowing (AI occasionally overshadows the work of humans, sometimes with the human that requested the generated content passing it off as their own)

- Oversaturation (AI can generate content extremely quickly and can take over a large portion of content in certain spaces)
- Society (Mainly societies are centered around some form of capitalism and AI within these systems threatens to provide high class individuals/corporations with the power to infringe on the rights of people without consequence)

The validity of each of these concerns (or even if they should be concerns) is a highly debated topic and full of nuances. For some AI is purely a tool to be used or misused like any other while others have opinions that vary across a wide spectrum.

Amendments to AI Rules
At the current moment and until another post from the moderation team regarding AI, AI is viewed as a tool that poses more risk to the community, though due to AI usefulness and its ability to pass as human we prefer to take a hybrid approach.

Because of varying extents to which AI can be used we are adjusting Rule 14 to the following (this may be changed in the future):

----------

  1. AI is NOT allowed in purely art posts
  2. Mark posts with one of the following (include brackets): [AI]: Relied heavily on AI, may be used in place of other markings, [AI-assisted]: AI directly contributed to a part of the post (code, text, assets, etc), [AI-advised]: AI was heavily consulted
  3. Explain how AI was used. Be as clear as possible and put this at the top or bottom. Do not try to justify AI usage, just explain how it was used
  4. Refrain from sharing AI-related posts frequently

----------

Obviously we cannot always definitely determine if someone used AI and sometimes AI use is so minor that it's reasonable not to mention it. The moderation team will still attempt to check posts for AI but sometimes we must rely on the subreddit's members to be honest in how their post was created.

Commenting on AI Posts
As mentioned there have been a few more AI posts recently and with them some heated comment sections. We ask that all members remember the subreddit's other rules regarding being respectful with each other and not escalating arguments.

We have seen unwarranted escalations from people on both pro and anti-ai sides and we would like that to stop. You are free to disagree and have discussions with each other but just remember this is a subreddit for Worldbox not AI debates.

This post will stay up for a while and will be free to debate the subreddit’s AI rules, AI posts, and opinions of other server members regarding AI if you guys decide you want to discuss those things.

TL;DR
The moderation team is trying to set up a better way to address concerns about AI content in the best way it can, so were making some changes. Read Rule 14.

Idea/Suggestion New Culture Trait: Raider

Villages that have a culture with the Raider trait will send small groups of soldiers to cities of other kingdoms, either over land or sea. When the soldiers get to the opposing village, they will attempt to steal from the storage building located in the village, and that village's soldiers (if they have any) will try to stop the invaders. This could allow two kingdoms to be in a state that is between peace and outright war.

Diplomacy between two kingdoms that raid each other will also take a hit, meaning that a kingdom may retaliate from being raided by declaring a true war.

Species that would have this trait by default would be Orcs, Bandits, Lulclaws, and Gnapkins.

Idea/Suggestion The release date for the next Worldbox Update is supposedly getting closer, as the time remaining until the eventual release continues to decrease each day.

Map Now that’s one rich ass kingdom.

Post image

This kingdom has 1.6 billion coins in my other world, this one is imported to my pc.

Facts about this world.

Many npcs in this world are super over leveled from over level 100 to 999 (not modded)

This kingdom has over 100 kingdoms and each city has an estimated amount of coins up to 1,000,000 to 50+ million coins.

My world is over 30.000 years old

This kingdom has 6000 soldiers but can maintain up to 16.000 soldiers.

This kingdom has 1800 blocks of land

And lastly this is probably the richest map in worldbox, I am certain about it.

Question Mods that make Assimilators and Pumpkins able to lead societies?

Pretty much exactly what the title says, I’m trying to find a mod that de-lobotomizes these species, since when opening the trait editor for these subspecies, the area that allows you to add a wernicke’s area and etc. is missing. Thanks in advance!

Meme Rating worldbox/anyone-I-can-think-anything-funny-of devs by which kind of family member they would be

Post image
12 Upvotes

I would like to begin this post by saying I am so EXTREMELY sorry to any dev of this game who might see this, I do not have any parasocial relationship with anyone, I dont see you as a friend, authority figure or parent this is strictly for the shits and giggles, this tierlist isnt a judgement on how I think any one of you are as people but of my interpretation of your online persona

For anyone else enjoy

Maxim

Ah Maxim, the very first person you think of when thinking of worldbox developer. He would be that father figure that was absent for most of your childhood, only for you to meet him again at a football match, you forget how angry you should be at him from your excitement of getting the fatherly love you have never attained and he would say "Missed me son?" And give you a 100 bucks and invite you at his mansion. Easy S tier

Mastef

Mastef is that cool uncle that sits with you at the kitchen on a plastic white chair and drop some crazy conspiracy theories/racism on you and you would listen to it like gospel, there is a very slight possibility he touched you when you were younger but that happened so long ago it became a repressed trauma so you dont remember anything. While nobody allows you alone with him in a room he is very chill and gets an A tier

Hugo

You have very rarely met him, he sometimes visits at family gatherings and barely talks to you, whenever the both of you meet you kinda stare at each other and have really awkward small talk about litterally anything to avoid talking about anything personal, he just kinda sits on the sidelines when everyone argues at the dinner table. He isnt exactly malicious but you dont really know him he is a good C tier

Artem

I know Artem isnt a developer but I needed a 5th person and have some funny stuff about him. You have never met this man in your entire life however he claims to know everything about baby you and says you have grown oh so much, he likes to talk about all the times you shoved a pen up your nose and had to be brought by mom to the hospital while you have no recollection, He does not talk to you outside of this and comments on your very little achievement in life. Kinda mid C tier to be honest

Nikon

You have known this man, very long ago, recent enough to have some sort of emotional bond but long enough to be less of an individual and more of a whisper, you have heard he studied and has moved abroad for a job, you will never see him again and your stuck wondering if any love he may have shown was even real. Respectable B tier

I know there are other developers and contributers but I havent seen enough internet presence of them to think of anything funny about them, see them as the family members you have never met, the type to show up when you win the lottery. Anyway again sorry to anyone affected by me I just did this for the shits and gigs, have a good one.

Question How to make humans compete with other nations?

Humans against the other three standard species always lose. They have bigger nations but easily can collapse into civil war, they lose to dwarves by stats and equipment, elves by large population of an organized nations and orcs by stats. I tried giving them the environment that give adamantine since they have the land advantage, but the results are 50/50.

Question What is your version of an apocalypse in the game?

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

I've been planning out a largescale, standardised apocalyptic game cycle for basically as long as we've had access to the powers and mechanics given to us by the monolith updates. Way too early on, I obsessed with about how I could get all of the game's mechanics on the business of cleansing the game of all civilization or getting everything so royally enshittened as to reset the entire map.

I figured that, in order to do all this, I needed to use all the world ages from the first day of the year zero. After many months of the occasional trial and error, I gradually understood more and more about how to better incorporate the rest of the world's existing rules (as set by me and the game) into the grand, apocalyptic orchestra. The most devastating rule is the "Scale of Races" philosophy, i.e my intense drive to mod any and all narratively friendly factions in the world.

My main race is always extremely built up, genetically; all of them have their carefully constructed Genomes, standardised subspecies traits, and a beefy birth editor traits. Therefore, in order to survive, all my other factions (monsters, my own pick for a rival species, animals I pick to cause problems, etc) need to be just as prepped to survive the world longterm, usually by being slightly stronger in some respects than the ruling species.

Superpumkins become a real, long lived threat to the villages that they spawn in; bandits or demons become new factions that will found rival states after successfully sacking any city, taking over the city as a base of operations to start playing a permanent role in history and Geopolitics; alien invasions cause chaos from the sky, the passengers of those saucers will either dominate and start conquering, or leave a really lucky civilization some truly sick weapons to use with impunity (I curse and reforge these to make them more powerful).

Evil mages and necromancers, if left to escape, will have children in the wilds and continue on their raids and attracks. This freedom of theirs is often a symptom of the state of the world they spawn into. There are too few people in some regions to kill of the mages as they spawn. Flame elementals are getting a brain at some point, likely in the next update given that Mako Mako works to build up, and would never leave a species brainless while giving it a culture trait 🤔. Flame elementals are going to be a matriarchal species. This needs them to have a prefrontal cortex to build a hearth and where a culture can form via the Advanced Hypocampus.

This event is so exciting that my calendar (in-world) will host a fire elemental kingdom (or a few of them) for the full apocalyptice eventually, where I give them these traits and allow them to terrorise and attack the crumbling world around them. The age that comes after will not do away with them, but it will inaugurate their faction into the suffering that affects all other life.

The first cycle will end and two ages will come and go with all factions in tact. If the Flame Elementals built a major empire or if they were simply a very important Geopolitical force, they will die out by the third world age of the second cycle, leaving a power vacuum and a ruined world. Hell, they might even leave nothing behind at all if they were really successful 😁. If at least one faction survives, the world will go on for the third full cycle of ages.
