Moderator/Announcement With Ahmarra coming out soon, until how long should we require spoiler tags/flairs for content regarding the new world? Your choice
Also willing to take suggestions regarding options for the poll. I've done this previously and offered options for 1-2 weeks into test realm, but those weren't particularly popular. I'm capped to 6 options, so hopefully this is good enough

KingsIsle Update Summer Update Feedback - Next Steps
Hi all,
The development team has had an opportunity to review some of your feedback about this update. We also hear concerns about timing, and agree we need to work to respond quicker and in a direction players are asking for. We have begun making adjustments to our development process to better prioritize player feedback, but wanted to share some things already in progress.
- We're rolling back the change to the Exclusive Pets and returning your ability to list them on Kiosks. We think there is work to do to make pet hatching and pet collecting more intuitive, but we shouldn't have been so quick to fix this bug when it's the functionality players have come to expect. We'll work with you to find a better solution, like informing players in-game of the key differences when hatching using Exclusive Pets via the Kiosk.
- We've been refining our list of top player-requested changes, including things you think we should polish, improve, or revisit for bug fixes. We'll be opening these ideas up to player discussion, and give you a significant amount of time to weigh in how we revise systems. This lets quality of life updates be a collaborative process, and helps check us in case we miss the mark on a potential fix or improvement, like we did with Exclusive Pets on Kiosks.
- We also hear your positive feedback around doubled rewards for Challenge Mode Chronicles, and more accessible Magic Weaving; we plan to make a few similar adjustments to other content, and will share these as soon as we've confirmed them.
Please continue to provide your feedback as we work through it. We have more in the works and will share additional updates as they become locked into our overall plans to address your ongoing concerns

Other Sherlock Bones!
So this took place in Pirate101 but it has more relevance here, during the Arc 2 Quest of the Sinbad arc we learned something VERY sad, the Furry version of Sherlock Homes died in Karamelle, R.I.P. as much as i hate Marleybone of Wizard101 its sad to hear the death of the only character i liked within Marley. May he rest in peace.
To those who already knew this- dont be a douche

Pet/Hatching Finally got the Gloomy Eye I wanted!
Set it up offense focused for my lower level death wizard! Anyone have any recommendations for better pets/builds and around what level to switch off?

Discussion Giving up on Life and choosing Death.
I had the extra slot and was thinking which school I wanted to double up on so I initially chose life. But after going through krok I just deleted it and chose another death character instead simply because of the versatility with late game builds.

Discussion Discussion
Balance isn't a support school. It's the versatility school.
Storm has damage. Death has sustain. Ice has defence. Life has healing. Fire has pressure.
Balance has a little bit of everything.
Blades, shields, debuffs, utility, self-sustain, and solid damage. You aren't forced into one playstyle—you adapt to whatever the fight throws at you.
Other schools specialize. Balance improvises.
Give me one wizard and an unknown fight, and I'm taking Balance every time. So yeah, can I have all the balance players tell everyone else how much they love it, we don't want the hate we just want to be appreciate.

Discussion The game seems to have turned the heat a bit more in Azteca
Besides enemys being total sponges (more so bosses), they start to use spells from other schools.
Wasnt expecting a life enemy to use empower, then proceed use cast another 6+ pip spell (after just hitting me with 2) then healing themselves only to doing it again.
Idk if its just me but enemies seem to be more.... intellegent? One enemy will blade the other, then before I attack Ill get hit with a stun from the next enemy. Then ill get hit with a trap, only for the second enemy to hit me with a 6+ pip spell lol.
The first boss I fought in Azteca was a Storm boss that started using tower shield. Then used an Ice Bird spell that applyed a trap. That Ice bird only costed her like 2 or 3 pips and did 300+ damage.
Its nice to that bosses can do 350+ melee damage with just a power pip.
Did I mention how they have so much health???

Discussion Coming back after a long break, are there any interesting ways to play through the game on a new character?
Long story short I wanna jump onto a new character but just trying a new school seems boring. Is there anything kinda different I can do? I know some people will do a new run with a friend where they can pull off being like a full support/blader or whatever but is that about the extent of “alternate” ways to play the game?

Casle Magic CASTLE MAGIC TIPS AND TRICKS, lengthy
This post assumes you know the basics of castle magic and where to buy caste magic items and spells. I'll add any additional tips and tricks as replies. I'm making this post as I know of no document or guide for these sorts of nuanced tips. I'm also adding pet bread crumbs as they count as castle magic objects.
If you know of some tricks or how you do things, feel free to add in the replies. If you have questions or just can't seem to grasp a particular about castle magic, this will hopefully be a good post to get some answers.
In no particular order:
- How to get pets, mounts, and house guests to teleport players: use "any item player detector" object with teleport player spell which allows you to designate spot/object to teleport to, along with what object causes teleport along with proximity.
- You can use use either "any item player detector" or "magic player detector" for seamless teleporting instead of forcing players to use active triggers.
- How to keep objects visible but allow players to walk through them: Use "fast magic" timer with at least 3x interval for both off and on to remove blocking from objects. If you set the "fast magic timer" with make invisible for on trigger and make visible for off trigger, then object should always look visible but players can walk through it. It's imperfect... players can get stickied a little and have to push through, especially if the object is big and has depth. Make sure that the timer is set to on and repeat is checked.
- How to make objects translucent: you'd think this would be easy, since there's a make translucent spell, but it frequently gets goofy. There are two ways I've been able to make the spell reliable and stable. First way is to set a "magic player detector" at every point a player can enter that zone of the house (if you want translucence perpetually on). Set both the enter and exit triggers on the magic object to cast make translucent spells.
- The second way can be with a "magic start detector" or maybe a "magic timer" BUT you need the extra step of using a "magic reflector". You will want to use these two spells in order... first spell is make visible and the second is make translucent. This is especially good if you want objects to appear from an invisible state directly to a translucent one. Was re-checking this and it failed. I had it working recently, but I think other parameters were involved, including using magic brazier activations.
- How to make ghostly monstrology house guests opaque: similar to the translucent problem, you'll need to set the make opaque spell through a "magic player detector".
- Time and distance parameters: for the purpose of caculating object distances with said objects at uninterrupted movement at normal speed, an object travels around the length of one large castle floor block per game second (I think that's 500 units which you can see using advanced movement on the X/Y/Z coordinates). Useful for things like calculating for camera actions.
- How to keep objects moving smoothly: sometimes when you are spinning or moving objects, they will start/stop or appear to stutter in their movement, especially if you use increase move speed spells. This is because the object completes the spell command before the next second gives it another command (like turn 90 degrees clockwise with repeat timer). The way to smooth it out is by giving the object extra commands to perform the same movement at the same time through a reflector. Also "fast magic" timer works as long as you adjust the number per second up. Adjust upward until smooth. If you use speed up spells, you may need even more move/spin spells to smooth it out, or adjust the "fast magic timer" further upward.
- Magic objects don't automatically count toward your furniture item limit. You can place up to 100 without increasing your item count. Every magic object after 100 are placed start to up your main furniture item count. Even visible objects like magic levers, buttons, orbs, and braziers fall under the special magic item limit. Bread crumbs are magic objects too and count within the 100 extra magic items parameter.
- When constructing magical object chains, try to modularize and keep them clustered. If you make multiple modules (grouped magic ojects for a single or specific set of events), try to keep your modules arranged the same way. THIS IS FOR DEBUGGING PURPOSES. If you have magic objects spread all over the place, you will have a hard time finding which are supposed to interact together, and if your magic objects aren't close to the furniture they're interacting with, you'll have a harder time finding the right object/module to fix.
- Also when you build your magic objects into these clustered modules, test them right away to make sure they're working as intended. Sometimes the effect will need time or furniture placement tweaks, sometimes there will be unintended effects, and sometimes it just won't work. An important aspect to know is that going into and out of decorator mode can cause weird effects with your magic coding. You need to completely exit and reenter the area without going into decorator mode to ensure things are working correctly. Make opaque and make translucent spells will seem to work when you first set them up from a "magic start detector", but it won't work for another player visiting your castle. Test your stuff as soon as you can and make the tweaks before moving to your next effects.
- Don't use resizing through castle magic: you can resize through the advanced movement menu when placing furniture. Why? When you use castle magic, you can see the change happening rather than the resize already existing at start. Castle magic for growing or shrinking is great when you want players to see the effect (so never say never), but if you're using it and having to adjust the placement of castle blocks and furniture to magically fit together but not to show off, then you're wasting a lot of time and precision that could have been executed in 5 seconds through advanced move menu.
- Bread crumbs are powerful. You can buy them cheaply in the crown shop under pet snack packs (toggle for gold!), they can be chained together for loops, you can branch the chains, you can select ignore ground to make them walk on air or fly, and you can set variable delays to make them pause at each crumb. You can also set behaviors to the crumb. They will occur during delay when bread crumb chained, or permanently if single crumb.
- Happy behavior will almost always cause the pet/house guest to dance, the exact dance specific to that particular pet/guest.
- Sad behavior will cause a pet or guest to fall to ground immobile. Note you will frequently have to adjust crumb location as guests will fall into the floor.
- Curious behavior will make them wander around.
- Bored behavior will make them use a dawdling animation without wandering. It may take a few seconds to play out.
- All magic objects, including bread crumbs have a directional facing in the form of an arrow on top of them. SUPER IMPORTANT. When you use one of those magical attack spell effects, it will cast toward the object's facing.
- If you assign a pet to stand still at a lone bread crumb, you'll want to adjust the bread crumb's direction as the pet will face the bread crumb's direction.
- Be very careful when moving magic objects around once placed. Picking it up will remove objects (not spells) from its parameters as well as from other magic objects that linked to it. Moving placed objects is okay. It's when it hits your backpack that causes a problem. Same thing if you pick up furniture your magic object was pointed at.
Long read, but hopefully useful information.

Discussion Former pro, present noob
I played Wizard101 regularly from roughly 2008-2014, had max (lvl 100) wizards with BIS gear, pets, etc in every school across two accounts, and a couple low lvl pvp smurfs. The game was my childhood.
Haven't touched the game for the last 12 years and now I'm thinking of getting back into it. I logged in for the first time and got overwhelmed with all the new mechanics.. fishing, cantrips, sockets, tons of new spells, worlds (the last i remember was khrysalis), pip conversion, etc. After inspecting a few characters it looks like max lvl is now 180, and BIS gear set is Abomination.
For someone just getting back into things, where do I begin? And which school(s) should I level first (I used to play both accounts at the same time with 2 seater mount for leveling/grinding/pvp purposes)?

Discussion KI Should focus on updating older spells
I'm ngl, they are doing a great job with updating the older spells like Ice Wyvern and the AOE spells like Frost Giant, etc..
But some spells desperately need updates like Skeletal Pirate or Wraith. Visual remaster for most of these mid-game spells that are cornerstone spells for their time.
It's really funny to see someone use those spells and I can see the polygons because they are from 2008. They just look jagged and something I wouldn't expect for a 2026 game.
Hoping they focus on updating older spells and older worlds too. The game really needs some refreshes in this regard.

Questing/Quest Help Darkmoor final dungeon strategy?
So I just made it to the final dungeon in Darkmoor, and I tried looking it up to see if there is a strategy the community has developed that is widely known. I found one Reddit post from 10 months ago and another from a year ago. I wanna know if the strategy mentioned in those is still used or if the strategy has changed. And if it has changed, can someone explain the new one to me, please?
Here's the link to the old Reddit post to check the strat if needed: https://www.reddit.com/r/Wizard101/comments/1ph1bvp/darkmoor_final_dungeon/

Discussion Rework discussion (1 of 8 overall reworks)
Hello,
First off, a disclaimer: these are ideas to make the game less stale, since anyone who's played for any length of time knows the best strategy is to buff AoE. This isn't a be-all and end-all fix; the game has its own issues, and these are just my ideas to help. Change is scary, but it also helps. Just because the game has been the same for 18 years doesn't mean it has to stay the same; change can make it better, but it might also make it worse. Openness to change will eventually make the game better, not worse, because feedback can push things in a good direction; change = progress toward a brighter future, not a brighter today.
This post is the first in a series of posts dedicated to reviewing each school and the game design as a whole to identify what is broken and what needs fixing. This won't just be me saying things like every spell needs to be an AoE or that everything needs to be advanced content, even though that would fix a lot of problems we'll bring up. Instead, these posts will focus on rebalancing the game so legacy spells and mechanics feel fun again, and the long-running Blade AoE meta can be challenged or toppled without forcing people to spend 3 times as long on the game. I will look at things from 2 standpoints: solo play and group play. While very similar, they can have different time commitments and overall strategies (for example, the best group strat is scald incendiary, while solo is buff into AoE, similar but different, with different requirements).
So let's get started with the overall reworks: changes to specific spell classes, enemies as a whole, and general gameplay. We will look at 3 overall changes that will contribute to the game's rebalancing and fun.
1.AoE nerf. Hopefully obvious, but AoE spells are currently king of the game, so much so that out of the 103 average spells that each school has, only 5 are used on average. This is because of the large disparity between 1 target and 2 targets for the same pip cost; for example, I give you the Ice Wyvern, a spell that does 355-395 damage, and Blizzard, a spell that does 250-290 damage to everyone on the field; to a single target, you would never use Blizzard over Wyvern, so why is wyvern never used well its because wizard101 is not a 1v1 based game its a 2v1 based game so that calculation is different its now 355-395 for wyvern vs 500-580 for blizzard and when you add more enimes in it gets even worse with a grand total of 355-395 for wyvern with 4 enemies and a whopping 1000-1160 for blizzard even with the nerf that AoE spells get they out class every other spell so how do we fix this well there are 3 solutions equaly viable but 1 definently out shines the others.
Flat nerf AoE spells. This is the easiest method but not the best, so now instead of 500-580 for 2 targets, Blizzard would do 350-390 with 175-195 per target. This lets the 2 spells have the same value for their pip cost while filling different roles: Wyvern destroys high-health enemies, while Blizzard cleans up low-health enemies.
Make all spells AoE; if every spell is special, none are
This is the better option 1v1 over 2v1. This one is a little harder to understand, but is overall better because it fixes a different problem as well. Now, instead of casting Blizzard in a fight and getting 500-580 damage worth of value, it will only get you 250-290, like the spell says, because the number of enemies is equal to the number of players; this lets single-target spells shine in general combat like they are supposed to, while letting AoEs play the niche of group content and specific fights it makes having more then one enemy feel like a challenge that you need to overcome and it makes learning a new spell feel like a new tool for the new world rather then a peice of clutter while looking for your AoE spell.
Enemy difficulty: so right now you enter a mob fight with 0 fear of dying. Why? Because, let's be honest, the mobs and bosses of this game hit like a wet noodle. Bosses should be terrifying. Remember the 3 street bosses—you know the ones that could one-shot you if they fizzled or passed enough—or cheats like belloques that actually made you consider healing or shields. That should be all boss fights, or at very least the major story bosses. Look, there should be 3 roles in this game (tank, support, damage), not 2 (storm and everyone else). You should be looking to fill all three roles in every team-up because all three are important, but right now one of them isn't: Tank. Life and Ice's primary role is tanking through healing and damage mitigation, respectively, but if a boss doesn't scare you into thinking you need that mitigation or that healing, then why have it hit 6 times in a row from rank 8 plus spells should scare you; the fact is that in this game it doesn't because it barely scratched your HP. This is a point to ramp up the damage, give them stats to rival ours, and let them access the same spells as us. Let them swing with an enchanted 8-pip spell with a 150% damage stat and a blade; if it deals 8k damage, that's a good thing because it makes the player think about the fight, not just blade AoE
is similar but slightly different from 2, and this is better scaling: a wet noodle hitting a boss with 30k HP is just a slog; a scary boss with serious damage output but only 8k HP is doable and makes you feel like you need to hit faster than them. Basically, using serious damage output to balance a fight is better than relying on higher defense.
These are three things I think we can do to the overall game to change it up a bit and make it better without ever touching a school. The other 7 will look at how we can touch the schools to make each one feel unique and fill their role better without touching the rest of the game.
