What are these? Just Kindred from Africa with a different name? And how would you integrate them into 5e.
Edit: what the tremere called among them?

WTA Can Fera be corrupted by entities that aren’t the Triat?

The Shifters can be corrupted by the influence of the Triat, but what of the influence of other eldritch beings? Outer Gods exist within the deep umbra, it is canon. So can they too corrupt the shifters into becoming their servants, and make them serve their dark whims?

Within the setting; can there be a Garou with tentacles spewing out of his mouth after pledging his soul to some forgotten god? Are there Rokeas that serve a sleeping eldritch horror, resting the bottom of the ocean in some sunken city? Is there a Bastet somewhere gouging out his own eyes after a reading a book belonging to a mysterious, yellowed-robed patriarch?

VTM What's y'all's opinion on having to deal with double masquerades either as a player or as an ST?

• Upvotes

Double masquerade: when a vampire not only needs to hide their nature from the mortal world, but must hide their clan/bloodline, or true allegiance from anyone including their own coterie, for fear of retribution.

Examples:

  1. The old reliable: player who is secretly a baali or an apostate.

  2. A salubri that must hide their lineage from the tremere in the coterie.

  3. A Cappadocian in a coterie with a Giovanni.

  4. Etc.

Personally it's my favorite kind of character archetype when I'm a player. It leads to a lot of interesting conflicts between the coterie which often does not crop up usually. Though it's not for every game obviously.

What have your experiences been like with this style of play?

I want to start a World of Darkness game, but I don't know which one to choose.

vampire? werewolf? Mages? Changeling?

I’m really into the lore—I’ve read a lot about it—but I haven’t gotten around to starting a game with my friends yet. Which one would you recommend starting with?

Ghouls, Kinfolk, Sorcerers, Thralls, does every splat have a for lack of a better term "mostly human sidekick?"

Ghouls and Thralls obviously serve Vampires and Demons respectively. Kinfolk don't technically serve Werewolves, at least not the same way the previous two do. But they still serve as a primary support role in their society and lore.

I'm not 100% sure Sorcerers fit the chriteria as they aren't intrinsically tired to Mages. Yes plenty of mages definitely have a coven of Sorcerers. But at the same time Sorcerers tend to also be tied to hunters or be their own thing.

What about the rest? I think I heard something about Changeling descendents who are almost entirely human, however I don't know what lore or mechanics they have. But what about Wraiths and Mummies, or some of the CofD splats?

WTA [Month of Darkness - Prompt 19] Rage Beneath the Skin

I have been a part of every war this world has ever known—and many that it doesn't.

I remember ten thousand loves. Ten thousand curses.

Ten thousand lifetimes beneath these stars. Asking questions. Singing songs. Listening to the waves. Basking in the fire's warmth. Loving. Living. Dying.

Mnesis reaches back into eras so ancient even the spirits struggle to find names for those times. So far back that Memory and Dream blur into the mists of a world where they were one.

I remember endings. So many endings. Young warriors of Gaia with hot blood in their hearts and glory in their songs leaping to their dissolution. Tribes of kin and humans alike whose works have gone beyond the reach of even dust. Institutions raised and cast down. Ideas—concepts—whose like is preserved now only in hidden places where time does not flow, and the voices of things long extinct still echo.

I remember beginnings. New lands. New hills sprung up from the green earth. New dwellings. New loves. New lives. Stories told—stories lived—for the first time.

Memory is a burden and a privilege. It feels as much curse as it does gift as we face the end of all beginnings, and the beginning of all ends—a cataclysm that time will not pass, life will not cycle anew, and that ideas will not survive.

This world is broken. Streets buckle. Blood pours out as though someone struck a wound deep in the Earth herself. Maybe it belongs to them, the humans. Their buildings crack apart as the sky itself splits. Is it the vitae of the spirit world? The shining lands are wracked with devastation.

Is it mine? I feel it pouring from me, for I, too, am broken.

The air shimmers—no, boils—above the lake. Black currents swirl into a vortex that most cannot see. I do. I can see its true form across the veil. An anti-light, a glow that darkens the world, a flame that illuminates only that which is gone. Anthelios, they call it. The Anthelios Entity.

And in all the lifetimes I remember...I have never seen anything like this before.

Its presence decays the very light of day. It leeches the will to be from my bones. Even the servants of the Enemy grow sick in its gaze.

I am a sage, as I have been many times. A mother, as I have been many times. A lover. A healer. A dreamer.

But now as the blood pours like liquid magma from my wounds, I am something more. I fight for all of those things. And I burn like the sun this creature profanes with its very existence.

I let it rise within. Rage. Ten thousand lifetimes of it, all held within this skin. As my form surges into something vast and powerful, a living recollection of the savage glory of the primal world, with it comes an anger so complete that it sets the land ablaze.

This Rage cannot be contained in Memory, nor Dream. It cannot be leashed by skin or soothed by song. As the Apocalypse crashes around me and the world I know falls, never to rise again, I let it grow incandescent in my heart.

I pour it out of ten thousand voices.

And this thing that blackens the sun itself, a primordial corruption so old that all my memories are but a child's compared to the mountain's, this being descended to break me and all of my kin and all those who draw hope from Sun's light...

It wavers.

In all that time, it has never felt a Rage like mine.

If I die today, my ten thousand lifetimes of memories die with me. Time itself will forget me. No mortal or spirit will remember me if this entity devours me.

But it will.

MTAw Planning with a past self

I'm trying to understand the full extend of the Time Arcana and I'm wondering: what can prevent my Big Bad to contact his past self to tell himself the players plan? Or even to prepare his plot before players could stop him?

Don't get me wrong: I love this idea and I will definitly use it if I can!

VTM [Art][OC] Malena, childe of the Inquisition

Post image
18 Upvotes

Okay, this one is actually really old, but I'm rather fond of it.

I think I drew it around 2002-2004?

She's a Lasombra NPC and childe of one of my husband's former PCs.

He saved her from death by turning her to a ghoul and was given the rare chance to choose if she wanted to be embraced, as her sire saw in her his long lost daughter and developed a twisted paternal instinct towards her.

Like her sire, who is an Inquisitor, she follows the Path of Honorable Accord (sp?) and might seem like an atypically calm and reasonable member of the Sabbat, but she has learned the ways of her clan well.

WTF What do you think of the Border Marches and the Pangaeans?

Personally I love them, it adds so much to the setting in general. The Uratha are truly forsaken from their own natural habitat and were the cause of its death; the Pangaeans add a lot of wtf factor, imo. God-Beasts who somehow can use Arcana, and reach the anima mundi and may be fallen Supernal Gods. Crocodile's corpse becoming a thing of flesh and being usable to make croc-shifters is very cool, and I feel the bull shifters and the croc-shifters build a picture of how unqiue and refined the uratha were as weapons and makes them feel like a massive achievement for Wolf and Luna.

The Border marches to me just add so much that is unknown, the gauntlet is an entire world sealed, the god of it the only thing that kept it open. The Weirdness of the era with the isolated pockets of crystallized time before is super interesting to me as well.

The sundering in general was such a cool era. The underworld was fundamentally different, awakening and the watchtowers were nothing like they are now. It opens up the world so much

And I know they are unoffical but Chris Allen's writeups for the Pangaeans are crazy cool.
