Other I’m honestly so disappointed with how this fandom has treated this game

Enjoy it. Hate it. I don’t care. Fact of the matter is, the game is less than 24 hours old and you guys have already bombed it with negative reviews…has anyone even actually finished the game??

Something that you guys need to understand is that, albeit on a much larger scale with a much more supportive community, games like fucking Silksong had similar outraged reactions.

Difference between this and Silksong? One is meant to be a game, one is an adaptation

Like they haven’t even put out their first hotfix yet! Give it time to breathe goddamn…

This is also a pretty supportive community of artists..it’s honestly super disheartening to see you all pretty much turn on anything the second it’s made official.

Ex:
-keybinds suck
No, they don’t. I think you should be able to change them, but as they are it only took me like five min to get used to
Etc…

I hope you guys never expect anybody to try something like this again. They fucking won’t after you have done this…

EDIT:

I see some people misunderstanding my point, and that’s my fault, I wrote this in a rush, so here’s a bit more insight into what I mean:

Most reviews I’ve seen consist of “game bad” or flaming the game after two minutes of gameplay. If you have actual, valid complaints and want to leave a review you are perfectly fine to do that in my opinion. That is not what most people are doing. They are either just attacking it or can’t bear the thought of being polite to people behind the screen. it’s disgusting, we should be ashamed of this.

I’ll never claim any game is without valid criticism. I’m just really disappointed in how we handled this because it’s so unlikely we’re gonna get anything else if we’re literally threatening people.

Edit 2;
For those of you asking for examples.

Bad reviews:

“Modding community, save me” (that one is a bit funny tho lmao)

“This game made me sad it’s so unfun”

Not a big deal alone; there are reviews like this on every game! But we have also been quite nasty to the devs

Many people have swarmed the developers' personal Twitter and Instagram accounts. Instead of criticizing the actual graphics, they flooded comments sections with terms like "AI thieves," "scammers," and "plagiarists."

They also wanted to get them blacklisted from the gaming industry

I just feel like we’re giving these people a tough time
In general and, while we don’t have to pat them on the heads and praise them, they still made us a game at the end of the day. It’s gotta count for something.

Anyway I got a life, don’t particularly wanna argue with people on Reddit, have fun with it or don’t! Just please be civil good lord

Discussion (No Spoiler) DON'T BUY IT!

Please for the love of starclan don't buy the game, or if you have under the amount of 2 hours get a refund. Cause holy bloodly frick'n NO! It's so bad. I tried to hold on, 6 hours later, I am empty on sanity and it has been replaced with regret. Gonna TRY and get a refund? Doubt it'll happen, but holy hell if you value your sanity and your soul do not get/play this game!

If you want an ACTUALLY good cat game, Falconstar (Now days known as Falcon Development) has Cattails and Cattails: Wildwood for cheaper, as much better as a game

Edit: Since I'm too tired to type it out again, here's my review. ALSO! If you want to actually see what the game's like, watch someone online play it. The trailer and the "developer plays" are super misleading

Edit 2: Refund failed. Also, people are ALLOWED to be upset about the game. If you don't like the post, you don't gotta interact with it. I'm just a random internet person trying to share information

Discussion (Spoiler) Are Warriors fans ever happy?

Tagging as a spoiler just case because I do mention the game that came out today!:)

I’ve been part of the Warriors fandom for 16 years now and I’ve never once seen the kind of negativity from this fandom that I’ve been seeing for the last year/year and a half. Sure, there’s the normal stuff to be negative about, like how the new writers are terrible at consistency and all of the oversights/errors throughout the series, but it reached an all-time high about around the same time the Erin’s announced the Renegades series.

When the news for Renegades broke, this sub was flooded with people whining about how “the new series was going to take attention away from Warriors,” and a lot of people decided to boycott Renegades before the synopsis for the first book could even drop. It was honestly ridiculous the amount of hate I saw for it. And the excuse of “the new series will take away from Warriors” is such garbage for two reasons: 1. The Erin’s already had three other series (Survivors, Seekers, and Bravelands) alongside Warriors and it never once took attention away from it, and 2. On average, the Erin’s release four books a year for the Warriors series. For most on-going book series, you’re lucky to get even one new book a year, let alone an average of four. Expecting any more than that is simply greedy and selfish, and it was so unfair to hate on Renegades for such childish reasons.

Now we have the game, and I don’t know about y’all but I’ve only seen mostly negative stuff about it. Of course everyone is allowed to have their own opinion on the game, but the thing that irritates me most about it is that about 90% of the posts that I’ve seen hating on it are from people mad that the game didn’t fit their exact image of what they had headcanoned it to be, which I think is incredibly unfair. I think it’s valid to be disappointed by it, but to come on here and absolutely tear the game to shreds over it is a little pathetic. They told us exactly what kind of game it was going to be, from the store pages across various platforms, to Vicky Holmes posting about it on her Facebook page, to both the Warriors and Trailmark Games social media pages outlining it, so I’m a little confused as to how and why anyone expected anything more. It’s one thing to be upset by something like, say, the customizable options, because that’s something they promised in the game, but to be upset and angry ranting over something like not playing direct scenes and interacting with every character from the books when that’s never something they promised is crazy to me. And a lot of the posts are covering their butts by hiding under the guise of “constructive criticism” but none of them ever add ways of actually improving the game, they just go on the list the things they want in the game. For criticism to be constructive, a solution must be presented to better the situation by the criticizer, otherwise it’s just criticism.

I can only imagine how the fandom is going to behave when the tv show drops next year. “This isn’t how I imagined the ThunderClan camp to look like!” “That’s not what Sunningrocks looks like!” Ah, I can picture them now, getting upset over one tabby marking being drawn half an inch too high up… I need to remind myself that some of these posts I’m seeing could be made by actual children, so I’m trying my best to just grit my teeth and push through, but I needed to get this off my chest.

Anyways, did anyone actually enjoy the game? Or does anyone have any criticisms that are actually constructive? Or does you wish something was in the game that isn’t, as long as you don’t hate the game to spite it? I’d love to hear everyone’s thoughts, as long as they’re respectful of the game and the developers!

Other I don't get why everyone's hating the game

From my playthrough it's actually played pretty good! I feel emersed and I don't care about "oh the icons look like clipart" I care about gameplay and enjoyment, and so far, the game has hit both those marks out of the park!

Discussion (No Spoiler) Can we take a deep breath and consider the fact that having a game at all is kind of surprising...?

Adding the 6 millionth post about the game, I know.

But there is one thing that I haven't seen said by anyone so far. We have a game, an official game, for a book series that has no official adaptation whatsoever outside of the written medium and audiobooks. (I count graphic novels as written medium here.)

Yes, the roblox game exists but it's a glorified chatroom so let's ignore that, it's practically not even a game imo because there is no actual gameplay.

How many writing-only medias can you think of that got a game adaptation? It's practically unheard of.

---

I will agree that COTF is shovelware and mid-tier at best. It's not particularly deep, nor very complex mechanically. But it has a cute artstyle, decent enough gameplay and a complete, albeit shallow story.

There is much room for improvement but I feel like people had expectations that were way too high in the end. I've seen people making comparisons to Elden Ring, Black Myth Wukong and other AAA games, which is an inherently unfair comparison to make.

Yes, Warrior Cats is a multi million dollar IP, but that doesn't automatically mean anyone in their right mind would be willing to pour millions and millions into a Warriors game, because the fandom and premise is still very much niche from a gamedev standpoint. This game is essentially a quick and simple tap into the fandom to test the waters, and while it very much deserves a lot of the critique it's getting I don't think condemning it as the worst game ever made like some people do is not going to do anyone, least of all the fandom, a favour.

What it does is turn future devs and investors off the idea of ever touching the warriors IP again.

---

Should we accept the game for what it is and praise it to high heavens? Hell no. But I do think we should all take a breath and be a bit more fair towards a game studio that was likely working on a budget and time limit when making COTF.

The TLDR of this is: Critique the game, but keep in mind what it actually is. A high-risk niche adaptation of a book series that is not as mainstream as we as a fandom might believe it to be. A high-risk first time entry into the gaming space. This was never going to be a AAA game, or even a AA game.

Performance is SO bad even with low settings it can't run good, I'll stick with Ultimate Edition at Roblox or wait until I get the Switch version which will be probably better...

Discussion (No Spoiler) It's not foxdung

My twoleg kits enjoyed the game for what it is: make a cat, do cat things, and have a rise to the top of the clan that is more or less on par with Firestar's.

Me and my mate enjoyed the game for what it is: spend hours making a cat and then fretting about the cat getting hurt. Basically a cuter Baldur's Gate III character creator.

People who poisoned their minds with twenty years of head cannon and unrealistic anticipation would certainly be disappointed -- but nothing could meet the expectations of fans like this. But kits and their parents doing the stories for the first time will likely enjoy it.

I'm a pretty cynical and pessimistic kind of twoleg, but even I can find enjoyment in this.

Discussion (Spoiler) The game is way more fun if you stop taking it seriously

• Upvotes

(Spoilers for the WindClan story)

My cat's dad just died and my leader decided the appropriate reaction to this was to demote the current deputy and make me deputy. Then 2ms later he was too depressed to keep leading so he put me in charge. All the while there's some guy in the clan trying to convince everyone that he has a super secret special bond with StarClan that's better than any medicine cat.

The entire time this is happening i keep getting in 1v1s with the most aggressive mice of all time.

This game is so unintentionally funny if you let it be

Discussion (Spoiler) Warrior cats game

Spoilers, it sucks. Path of titans has mods, one of which is a decent cat mod (by asylum). Maps on that game could easily be broken into territories to patrol, night and day cycle, food and hunger mechanics, group and local chat is a thing, servers can have up to hundreds players. Growth stages, decent customization, emotes, plants can be picked and fish can be caught, though prey and predators look like dino stuff still. This could be the new wolf quest of warriors RP.

The studios aren't going to make the game we want.

(Long time lurker, hope I didn't break any rules)

The genuine lack of effort put into the game just frustrates me to no end. I’m not much of a developer/coder myself, but would anybody wanna join up and make Trailmark look like even more of a laughing stock? I can do story design/voice acting

Discussion (No Spoiler) I didn’t expect to be this affected by just how sickeningly bad the game is.

And yes I mean sickening. I genuinely feel ill with how irritated and disappointed the game has made me. I’ve only JUST finished the opening tutorial and I already had to take a break. The graphics I can excuse. The Warrior Cats game was never gonna be some kind of triple A visual masterpiece.

It’s the fact that EVERY character is an OC, and that nothing feels like it was made with any kind of genuine passion or love at all. It’s just some random AU set in the lake territories filled with made up characters. I picked ThunderClan, and the only legacy characters I could find were Cloudtail and Brightheart. I tried to talk to them, and what they had to “say” was what made me shut the game off.

They had nothing to say. They had the exact same stock “I have no mission for you” dialogue as every other cat in the camp. These are CANON LEGACY CHARACTERS, and they have ZERO flavor text. None of the cats do. This was when my passive disappointment turned into actual unhappiness and upset. The devs didn’t give a flying fuck about any of this. I’ve never had a game put me in an irl “You know what I’m just gonna go to bed” bad mood before.

This is all without mentioning that the game runs like ass on a NINTENDO SWITCH 2. I should not be stuttering along at 30>FPS on a game that looks like something for the iPhone 5. Also for some reason the thing you use to find objectives is “StarClan’s guidance” and not scent trails.

I payed full price for the digital Switch 2 version, with DLC. That’s how excited I was and how confident I was that even if the game was kinda bad, I’d still play through it and have fun. Now I’m angry at myself for ever thinking that. It’s hard to describe the sheer misery of how let down I am. I can’t even get a refund.

I saw the posts y’all were making and figured that it was classic fan overreaction. But nah, this was the worst gaming experience I’ve ever had. This is fucking unforgivable.

My roommate and I were gonna pop on Doctor Who to kinda cheer me up, but right when the episode started I shook my head and said “I’m sorry I just can’t right now I’m gonna go lie down.”

Discussion (Spoiler) I see so many people upset with the game

Like how you can't be a medicine cat, no graphic stuff, the being able to wear hats and stuff, etc.

And I can say seeing some of the reviews and stuff in my personal opinion I am glad I held off getting the game because of apparently it's cheap and stuff especially where you can't become a medicine cat cause I tbh was gonna get it on all 3 platforms and play one as medicine cat and the others wtv they have (I'm a dork for warrior cats it's the only reason I didn't fail reading in 4th grade) so having restrictions really made me sad, but what are yalls unbiased opinion on it what's the perks and disadvantages.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Everyone is right in being disappointed

I'm outing myself while being sorry to say I tested the game by my own means if you know what I mean because after that interview where the devs stated AI was used during its conceptualization stage and how cheap the trailer looked, I really wanted to be sure about its purchase before sacrificing my wallet. Usually, I'd gladly pay for a game if I'm certain I will love it. But this wasn't the case.

For what it's worth and before anyone claims I'm just spreading hate for the sake of it: the game CAN be entertaining even if for a short while imo. Customization is sooo lacking and might be my biggest pet peeve of them all. I'm someone with the simplest of OCs when it comes to designs and I don't understand all these pastel tones for the markings yet we lack any actual black shades despite having dark browns to recreate different tabby patterns.

I found myself struggling making orange tabby patterns that didn't destroy my eyes or felt completely overshadowed by the strong black available as a base color. Cel shading the model did make everything appear a bit more cohesive though. I know people will call this nitpicking and in this aspect they're probably right but we still can't deny the fact that having all facial features depending on what expression you choose for your cat is a bit limiting. Even The Sims did this better 22 years ago. Hell, some obscure Impressive Title games alongside FeralHeart did this without the budget of a huge company. Sliders would've been so much better. Two different marking slots is fine, but if you're aiming for a design that has 3 colors + white markings, you're cooked. There also isn't a way to modify the fur's shape/direction and while some tails look out of place during character creation, ingame they looked fine lol.

Some mechanics are quite pedantic. I dislike the fact you're apparently only able to save using quick travel. While exploring, you either unlock a new quick travel point or have to walk back to one you've previously unlocked in order to save your progress. Would it have been that hard to add an autosave option or simply being able to save from the menu before closing? Freshkill being consumed every 90s does feel punishing like some other users have mentioned. I've only played a bit now before going to bed ngl, but I can imagine on the long run it could become quite the burden. I rather deal with the debuffs than having to hunt certain amount of prey by hand when you can at most get 3 pieces of freshkill from what I've noticed tbh.

Some NPCs are straight-up ugly and that's to be expected when they're generated randomly but now explain to me why do I have 3 cats with the -dash suffix and other 3 that had -fur instead within the same clan. I can't help but feel like in my savefile in particular there either has been a lot of inbreeding, triplets, or my leader in particular lacks any creativity and is just fking with everyone lmfao.

Lastly, from what I've seen, there doesn't seem to be much of an impact in the relationships no matter what you choose to answer. I've unknowingly given the worst responses possible to the NPC and all the relationships remained neutral almost with the same 20 positive points. I'm not sure if this is a bug or what. Speaking of which, besides clipping with the terrain and whatnot, be warned because your characters will certainly get stuck from digging in dirt piles. There seems to be an issue with the pathing whenever you're interacting with them and you're unable to do anything else until your cat unstucks themselves. They do figure it out eventually, but you will certainly stare blankly at the screen until they're able to move lmao. This is something that can and I'm sure it will get fixed though.

I've seen some people saying we should be grateful and that this is a children's game anyway but I can't help but find it a bit insulting towards the kids. It's 2026. We never expected Rockstar Games level of development but certainly we did want something made with a bit more of love and care towards the series and its playerbase no matter their age. As I've said, the game can be entertaining, but expecting someone, especially a parent, to pay 30 bucks for something that even visually you can tell it should've costed half ot it with no dlcs involved is quite the stretch.

I'm taking this as a chance to glaze Cattails and recommend it to everyone instead. It's a bit cheaper in price but doubles the charm this official game was supposed to have. I can't recommend the sequel enough. Don't mind the fact it doesn't follow the canon name system or how some changes were made to their storylines to avoid any similarities with the books because I can assure you it was done by people that actually enjoy the series. Or at the very least they seem to really like cats. Regardless, it's a very cozy and nice game. Rant over.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Did we *really* think that it would be anything better than shovelware?

Like really, we're dealing with Harpercollins and Coolabi. Harper has spat on this series for years. The only merch until the bonker's toys were the cheapest possible bullshit with the poorest designs they could put together. The developer's portfolio is basically just kart shovelware and 2 other bad games.

It was doomed the moment it started development. Play literally anything else for your own sake.

Discussion (No Spoiler) I honestly don't get the hate on the new warrior cats game

Like yeah I know it's not the highest quality but I also knew that it wasn't going to be the highest quality because this game studio just makes games for IPs they don't have a good track record I'm also closer to the target audience then most people I think most of the hate comes from people getting their hopes up but if you had low expectations it's pretty fun I had low expectations and it surpassed them I mean yeah it could be better like highlighting the trees that you can climb and being better to navigate but with navigation you can just click triangle and if you're on the direct route it will show you a giant glowing path that's the most direct path yeah there's a lot of inaccuracies but it's pretty funny I enjoy it it's a good 7 out of 10

Discussion (No Spoiler) Warrior Cats: Clans Of The Forest.

So I am seeing a lot of negative posts and comments regarding the game and it's very disheartening. Don't get me wrong: everyone should be allowed to voice their opinion and everyone is entitled to their own opinions, thoughts, and feelings. But honestly, as someone who grew up reading the books and who is still keeping up with them? I am very happy with what we got.

Yes, there is so much more that could have been done or added but at least we have a game? At least they actually made an official one? I still remember when there was no media other than books for it. No merch. Nothing. So I am grateful that in 2026 here we are with an official game. I hope they will add more as time goes on and expand but as it is: I am very happy with what we got and feel grateful that we have something.

Also, if you are looking for another good warriors like, I suggest Cattails: Wildwood Story.

I hope some of you out there are enjoying the game like I am.

Yall are being a bit overly negative. I’ve been waiting on a warriors game for about 16 years and I’ve enjoyed the game. It’s not some life-altering, world-stopping game. It absolutely needs more features - more open world, romance options, friendship, and more.

But its really not the end of the world lol. It’s a fun, silly little game about battle cats.

I've only played about 3 hours in but it's just...not good. I'm so disappointed. The story is incredibly lacking, the pacing is horrible, there's no real building relationships with the other cats. I don't even have any desire to continue the story due to the lack of soul in the game, it's not engaging at all.

Discussion (No Spoiler) You youngins don't know how good you got it

When I was a young whippersnapper, warrior cats was the most important thing in my entire life for years.

There was no official merch, there was nothing about it online, nobody in real life knew what it was. WCUE was a blocky, janky game where the territory borders were brightly coloured blocky lines on the ground, and the cat's heads were cylinders. The most we had was MAPs, AMVs and PMVs. The series only existed up to Omen of the Stars.

If you had told young me, that today we have an expansive Warrior Cats game, an official animated series being released via Disney, merchandise coming out of our earholes, I would have had a seizure.

Instead all I see is criticism. "Bit disappointed in XYZ, don't like the look of this merchandise, can't believe Disney is doing this it's going to be watered down" etc etc

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but oh my Starclan, you do not realise the absolute gifts bestowed upon us today. It comes across spoiled, picking holes in everything the Erins have finally given us after literal decades of tumbleweed.

I am so grateful that, after over a decade being a die-hard warrior cat fan, I finally have tangible official things to enjoy. I do not give a flying hedgehog about the imperfections. WARRIOR CATS WAS NEVER PERFECT ANYWAY.

Thank you for coming to my clan meeting.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Am I the only one that feels like the Online Skirmishes are just npc's and not actual players? (Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest)

I love this game! It had a low budget and I accept it for what it is, and I've been having lots of fun!

But like, how come when I do online skirmish I don't have to wait in a matchmaker queue? And I pick from a list of available players and I'm just instantly in a match, what if someone picked me? And how come I never have to wait for my opponent to choose an action? And, subjectively, everyone's strategy seems similar while mine is really different, like I've gathered lots of herbs but barely anyone else is using them too?

What do y'all think? Am I just being paranoid?

News About the Warrior Cats: Clans of the forest Team- Article Translation 08/28/2026

Hi there! Im a native spanish speaker and heres the translation I did of that one article that revealed that the game used AI Aside from other things.

Day of the gamer, the peruvian studio that developed Videogame Warrior Cats: Clans of the forest

The Peruvian gaming industry participates again in the development of a game that is part of an international franchise, Bamtang games confirmed that it was charged with the development of Warrior Cats clans of the forest, a title inspired by the popular literary universe of warrior cats

The Warrior Cats franchise is a successful juvenile fantasy novel series created by working partners under the pseudonym Erin Hunter that narrates the adventures and conflicts of wild cat clans.

During the day of the gamer, Carloz Salazar, Bamtang Games lead game designer, explained to the andine agency that the peruvian studio was behind the videogame’s entire creative and technical process. Warrior cats:: Clans of the forest since the initial definition of the experience to its implementation in consoles and pc.

Trailmark Games and working partners trusted the Peruvian studio for the concept proposal of the game, which also has minigames and Warrior Cats Ultimate edition in roblox.

One of the main challenges, he said, was translating the universe which main narrative means are books to the interactive format. The game developer reminisced that the conceptual process took a few months due to the quantity of material that had to be revised.

The team started reading the first books and comics, aside from looking at videos, follower’s opinions and other products related to the franchise, The objective was to identify which elements were crucial to correctly represent the Warrior cats universe and which could become game mechanics.

The proposal ended up taking the shape of an adventure with rpg components and a strong emphasis in exploration. One of the objectives, the developer explained, was to build a map big enough to constantly convey the sensation of discovering new spaces but keeping the project within the deadlines.

Development started approximately during the second trimester of 2025 and it got to have 50 professionals from different areas, including logistics, design art and coding.

Artificial intelligence in Videogames,

AI also formed part of the development process. For Salazar the integration of ai based tools within the workflow can represent an advantage for professionals and companies, especially in the beginning.

Thanks to AI information was able to be summarized and it helped to identify relevant content within the Warrior cats universe. He said. The designer emphasized that this information passed through human processes of checking and validation.

AI tools are also employed during other production phases in videogames. In the art department, for example they can help generate reference views that then help 3d artist model  characters initially designed in 2d.
AI is also used to obtain references about natural environments. The videogames universe is influenced by the forest of southern England. Which is why these tools helped research about vegetation, trees and other elements that work as reference for artists,

In coding AI can speed searches related with library compatibility, classes or variables and to fix bugs.

“Everything in the game is handmade”, He clarified about the art, He also explained that in Bamtang Games work is organized around four big areas, design art, coding and management.

The Design department leads the building of the experience and the mechanics. The artists handle the visual identity and coders turn proposals into working systems and  code, while the management team coordinates resources, tasks and deadlines. In the team there were approximately 50 professionals involved.

He also said that the Peruvian team in charge of Warrior Cats:Clans of the Forest tends to leave small clues inside the projects Bamtang games participates in.

“I won't spoil you, we left some things there that are part of the creative team's identity. It is impossible to separate that from our Peruvianness because the team is 100%  Peruvian, "he commented.

The designer remembered that something similar happened in previous projects, In Nickelodeon Kart races for example, certain racecourse sections were conceived to do drifts that were inspired in the Universitaria Avenue towards Costa Verde. They have also incorporated references in characters and dialogue but they are adapted to be understood by players of other countries.

Available in pc and consoles.

The videogame was developed using Unreal Engine and will have versions for pc, Ps5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo switch 2 through teams specialized in development.

This process implies planning the game from the beginning for each platform, since each manufacturer establishes different technical requirements, control systems, interfaces, protocols and certification processes that must be met before a game can be published.

“The idea is that the same experience can be replicated in every console” He maintained.

A transforming Videogame industry.

Far beyond this project the videogame developer considered that the global videogame industry is going through an especially complex stage due to the new consumerism tendencies, transforming contact policies in studios and the introduction of ai in development processes.

He also has observed a change in player expectation, consumers often look for more extensive experiences, but they aren't willing to pay more for them. This increases pressure over production budgets.

According to the Peruvian designer this transformation was developing from years ago, but it became more visible after the pandemic. In parallel platforms with models and different production values like roblox have gained space while studios look for new ways to finance their projects,

Bamtang Games works under a model known in the industry as work for hire, a company or publisher hires the studio to develop a game and finances the established budget for the project, In our country most Videogame studios follow models like codevelopment where different compánies share part of production and its costs, just like indie projects that are financed by its developers or by support programs.

Warrior Cats: Clans of the forest launched their first trailer and launch date confirmation is still pending.

Discussion (No Spoiler) My opinion about the game

I've been hearing people say the game is mid n stuff. And that's fine. What I think is important is that we finally have something of substance after 25 or so years of nothing but novels, comics and fan animations. If the game sells well I think it'll inspire the Erin's to make more games and do better with it.

I know some people won't agree and that's fine. But I also think it's nice to have a change of pace.

Maybe not the best analogy but to me this feels like if pokemon didn't release any games at all until 25 years of only the anime airing and then suddenly Sword and Shield dropped. Sure, it's not the best. But it's a start.
